Dear Minecraft community,
I present you the Vanilla Series, Vanilla HD's successor packs featuring twenty different bumpmaps in over 30 combinations with twice the resolution used in Vanilla HD.
- 512px version with 256px item textures -
Being a hybrid pack, DXII uses 512px textures for the terrain and 256px (or lower) for all other textures making it run with 2GB memory already and thus less resource-hungry and faster than an usual 512px pack. Use this for best quality.
You will have to allocate 2GB to Java/minecraft.jar to be able to run this pack. If you're using Windows you can download this 2GB allocating batch file and put it in the same folder as your Minecraft.exe
I just quite like the subtle additions. It's not making it 'better' or 'enhancing' anything other than my enjoyment of the game, and thats no bad thing. IIII don't understand why people use things like painterly as it kinda ruins the asthetic or Minecraft.. I like the default pack, I like my HD TV showing nice high-res textures that don't detract from the style.
Some people do it badly, CoCoNUT isn't one of those people.
Thank you very much :-) I just uploaded an version with connected textures which are supported by Optifine. Includes textures for chests and carts as well.
I will probably use this once it's done, and if possible, do you think you can size up everything else, not adding graininess or all the extra work yet, but just sizing up the pixels, that way, if someone decides to use it now, they wont have funny looking textures, and it will be sized up to look like the texture pack added stuff.
Don't need or have to, its just a suggestion I wanted to throw out.
I'm using the the 256 texture pack with optifine and magic launcher. My flowing water animation isn't working correctly. It's flowing very slowly, like lava or as if it was high viscosity water. No one else is complaining about this, so I suppose my problem is singular. Any idea what might be wrong with my setup?
Sorry for keeping you guys waiting. Wasn't working on this texture pack for a while.
I'm trying to update to the 1.4 snapshot right now and added mirror links which aren't ad-supported so please use them only if the other ones don't work for you.
To answer some questions:
These texture packs are made by applying bump maps using pictures of the materials. I use GIMP's 'Bump-Map' filter to do so. Every material has individual settings so the effect is less strong on grass than on wood and such. I'm downscaling using the Bicubic filter and upscaling without any interpolation if anyone was wondering.
Although R3D Craft is a great texture pack, I didn't get any inspiration from there. The original Vanilla HD texture pack has been uploaded May 2011.
Last but not least: I have no plans to add any mod textures right now. Might change that later.
Really looking forward to 1.4. I'll grab and do my mobs and then use in my upcoming series. I'll shout out and link to this post, am happy to include a direct link to download the texture pack edition I base mine on.
Let me know if you have a preference
I just uploaded 1.4. It's great to see you like my texture pack and I'd be happy to see your custom edition.
If you're interested I uploaded an folder with the pictures I used for bump-mapping to MediaFire.

I really like using these packs, that is, when they worked. I managed to find back this thread, hoping to redownload. I installed optifine and Rei's minimap, and forge. That's it.
When I load this texture pack and I enter a world things look all messy, like "noise" on a TV screen.
Please tell me how I can fix this?!

Didn't know there were so many new textures since the latest snapshots, so I updated this now to 12w36a.

8 Gigs dedicated toward minecraft or just 8 gigs in general? Like it says above you need at least 2 gigs Toward Minecraft To run it
You have me confused for a second there. You only put the new items in the 512x version.
