Fiiiiiinally made furnace texture I like. Kinda wondering if maybe I should put a front grill on it. I don't think I like that a 2D block is trying to be so 3D with the open oven cavity.

You could try playing around with the 3D models to make a 3D furnace.
I'm now pondering if I do actually want to split the pack. A normal version and and fantasy version. I'm going to keep going down the path I've got at the moment, put some of these older textures into an alt folder and then maybe further down the line I'll split the pack in two.
I'm going to save you a lot of grief, and tell you that add-on packs are a thing now. You'll make them using the same layout as you would a normal pack, so, assets/minecraft/et cetera, but only placing the files you want to change out, say, stone, cobble, stone brick being blue. In the resource packs page in minecraft, you simply select it one level higher than your base pack and bim bam boof you've got blue stone.
As nice as this is, as nice as it is to see you continue this after 3 years, and as nice as the pack itself looks, it really has changed feel a lot from what it was. That's not bad, just, different. I'm sad to not see what you used to have. But I like the new stuff, so I can't really take a stance on that. Maybe making the fantasy add-on hearken to your old style in some way would be nice.
Seeing this after all this time, though, I immediately had to download it. (After catching up a bit, of course. ) I don't see myself using it, though it is very nice. I may make a world to build with it with, but at the moment, I feel there's just too much needing to be done. Your glowstone, for example, is a bit... Odd. I'd like to see something more practical from it. Perhaps with a touch of that bright white like the torch. Then there's the unfinished textures, which aren't much of an issue, except that many, many updates have taken place since you last worked on this pack. Of course this is a side-project, I understand that, but it really is a shame, especially since 16x default textures are quite jarring next to 32x, and there aren't any packs that I could see meshing with this one well,
So, the biggest issue I've come across is that there isn't more.
I'd also like to add that I'd love to help if you ever came up short on ideas or feel that things are getting repetitive in terms of texture, but hey, you do you.
The texture pack section generally doesn't get many reply's as the mods section section does and a lot of those reply's are crash reports and nagging for up dates. It almost seems if you're going to make a texture pack just do it and don't expect many reply's. I like the look of the pack and I think you can insert almost any of the cartoonish packs as place holders for the missing textures as that's what this pack looks like to me.
You could try playing around with the 3D models to make a 3D furnace.
This is true although I have no idea how well it will work having never played around with that stuff yet. Potentially it could work out really really well. I'll have a look at it again way further down the track. Priority is to get basic textures out before experimenting with 3D models.

OH, of course!!!! That's a much more elegant solution. I wouldn't have to update, re-upload and relink both packs anytime I made a change to one. I love it. I'll start making this happen. This is great cause I accidentally made another style whilst trying to improve wood planks which I really really like. So perhaps that could be it's own add-on too. Welllll at least whilst everything is in development.
Out of curiosity what is it about the old stuff that people really like. Is it just the quirkiness of the blue stone?

Yea I'm aware that many people will be turned away from such an unfinished pack such as this. And I know that each of the weekly updates doesn't add too much extra. They're very small additions. But it works for me and I enjoy the process. This weekly commitment forces me to make continual progress and I believe is improving my work ethic.
Also the occasional feedback such as yours is sooooo valuable.
Out of the textures currently in the pack I agree that glowstone doesn't work yet. Along with reeds or papyrus or whatever its called, glowstone lamps, diamond block, bookshelves, red bricks and jungle stuff. There's a few more that I dislike but these are the ones most in need of improving in my opinion. Most of these are leftover textures from the blue stone days that I just haven't got to updating to match the current look yet.
I'd also like to add that I'd love to help if you ever came up short on ideas or feel that things are getting repetitive in terms of texture, but hey, you do you.
The best help I think I could get at the moment is just the occasional comment of feedback. I've well and truly gotten to the stage where I often just can't tell if what I'm doing or what I've already done is any good or not anymore. So it's great getting that extra opinion.
I don't understand why this pack doesn't get any real interest from many people on this forum. I've noticed basic packs with little to no efforts were getting like thirty pages of comments, while this one hardly gets five more comments on every update. This saddens me a bit.
So here's my feedback about the furnace thing. I like the overall design, but I think you should add a little more contrast, right now it looks a bit flat overall, maybe add contrast to the front, so the opening really looks like it leads inside the block. Or if you feel like you could work on that, why not add 3D then, 3D is always a nice addition to every pack. Also I feel like it needs something on top of it, it looks a little too much bland imo
Honestly I was a little surprised myself but that may have been caused by my ego getting the better of me. Either way, I don't mind and I'll just keep doing my thing.
Alright, it's good to hear that the furnace isn't sitting right for just myself then too. I'll have a play.

What pack do you use or recommend specifically as a place holder?
with John Smith mod textures but you have to turn connected textures off or this will happen. The first photo is with connected textures on the second is with them off. It really depends on what the player thinks will match with this pack.
This is really a resource pack section thing now. All the regulars are gone, tired, or just not wanting to deal with the deadness. We get nothing new here, so a lot of people have stopped checking the section. There are still some that do, and I can't really say why they've not made an appearance.
We have no mods for our part of mapping and modding, and there are no rules specific to our little community here, so between waning interest, essentially being thrown to the wolves, and a lack of new content coming in... Put simply, we're stagnating. It's not a fun thing to focus on. :/
Anyways, I think it's just that you've changed the style as to why people seemed to like the old stuff, and the blue stone was pretty unique. So perhaps 'somewhat' to your question on quirkiness.
As to add-on packs, that's good to hear. I really want to see what you can do with a different theme, though I will say blue stone and your current oak plank colour don't match well.
I'm really not trying to rush you, just a passing thought I had about the unfinished state. I really can't rush anyone, I've been working on a pack for far over a year and only have a small amount of blocks done. '^'
@Hikachan
Eh, I think Willpack might be a bit too sharp next to aBMC. That might just be me though.
You've done great work on this pack, I remember seeing it when it was fresh out of the oven so to speak. You've definitely improved the overall quality and consistency of the textures a bunch since then!
I think a fantasy based addon pack which brings the lovely blue stone back and whatnot would be great too btw, I loved how unique the blue stone was!
That being said, I really like the current colour choices too, it's definitely a lot more cosy than it was before. Anyways, keep up the great work, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread...

Yea I remember back then trying and never working out how to make the blue work with the planks. It was just so clashy. This helped in prompting the change away from it. The other problem was structures made of the stone felt really cold which wasn't the feeling I wanted....

.... that was the feeling I wanted. So I'm glad you think so and thanks.
Wait, if the mushrooms are blue and pink. What colour is the mushroom soup gonna be?
Edited to add : Forget what I said about the 3D furnace. The furnace looks perfect in 2D rather than 3D.
Either still brown or a swirling mix of the two. With that said I think I need to change mushrooms a little. They're a little too vibrant for this pack. And thanks for the feedback.
A few blocks I'd like to comment on are the prismarine blocks / lamps which you haven't touched yet, not trying to rush you or anything, just saying and for the diorite / granite stuff I really like the way it blends with the stone but one thing I liked about them was the color, so maybe keep them as they are but make the polished diorite white.
Your 4th screenshot in the main post has some outdated blocks.
Also I don't yet have the updated version but I don't think you have a texture for burning furnaces. There's other stuff like that for example the minecart rails have the original texture in the corners and the trapped chest have the original texture too.
But otherwise fantastic work on the updates, in fact i just created an account to say this, lol. Keep on the good work
Oh jesus! I keep forgetting about diorite, granite and anthessisissis- whatever it is. I keep reverting back to 1.7 Minecraft for mods and forget about many of the new textures. As for the polished blocks, yes I'll be making them more unique with bolder colours, it was just for the unpolished ones that I wanted to try to keep the differences subtle-ish so as to merge better with smooth stone. Having said that I want to improve the unpolished blocks a bit too so they're more easily identifiable as what they are.
I'll bump those up on my priority list, thanks for reminding me.
As for prismarine stuff, they'll probably be done much further down the line along with nether blocks. Can happily say the the furnace texture finally has a burning texture now too. Thank god. I had put that one off for far too long. Minecart stuff I haven't really got to. The basic rail texture is only there because of a test I was doing. Since the texture exists I thought I might as well leave it in the pack. But I should be getting to the minecart stuff in the next few weeks, so not too far away. As for the trapped chest I didn't actually realise that had its own separate texture. I'll fix that now, thanks.
Oh lord, look at all those textures still needing to be done. Thank you muchly, I'm very slack at the taking of screenshots. I think I'd prefer to avoid using screenshots that show the vanilla textures in them though.
Anywho, another week done. This one's pretty boring unfortunately. Busy week with uni and moving house. The plus side is that you may notice that there's now an add-on sections with the blue stone version available. I'm a little unsure on it. The colour isn't as rich as in the olden day pack but I think this better fits the other soft textures. But yea, let me know what you think.
I've noticed a problem with cracked stonebrick, it is strangely bland and flat compared to the regular stonebrick, and has a noticeable yellow tint. You can see it clearly on my 3rd screenshot
EDIT: In fact the contrast is only visible between mossy and cracked stonebrick, if you put cracked stonebrick next to regular stonebrick, there is not any "lighting" issue in the textures, but there's one between mossy and cracked.
Yea that was a mistake from last week when I was playing around with it. I was hoping no one would really notice until it was fixed for the following week. It's fixed in the latest update though, or should be.
Thank you for adding the add on packs. I'm in love with the blue stone. It's a very nice change from the same old boring stone you see in just about every texture pack. Would love to see some more fantasy themed blocks though. After you finish the main pack of course.
Another week bites the dust.
Ugh what a disgusting week. Uni, moving house and being sick all in one. Nevertheless, new textures!
Eh, I suppose they are. Hmm I'll have a play with them again.
