first time I see this thread. Like it :biggrin.gif:
Maybe I contribute something... We'll see
Your Piston / Trap / Cobble and Mossy cobble / Obsidian / Grass
from original thread are in customizer.
Thanks for all your work
Edit -> @kurtextrem - Fix name on customizer of your creations.
Update -> Fix some names on fan's textures (customizer).
Hey guys! I´m about to change the GUIs again, after I discussed some thoughts about my last creation with SoaringDragon. Sometimes I feel like I´m sitting on my eyes and just need some sort of reminder from someone else. Here´s what I came up with eventually:
The colour seems to be a bit redish by now, haven´t checked it ingame so far, but overall I think it will fit way better to the whole pack than the first attempt. First I tried not to use existing textures, but maybe by doing that the outcome will be way more consistent.
Any criticism welcome. As usual ... :wink.gif:
Edit: PNG removed, was really tooooooo orange somehow ...
2nd Edit: Here it is now. Looks fine ingame. I´d say ...

Style looking good, as you said maybe too orange, work on it please, it's beautiful ! :smile.gif:
Edit : You can increase/decrease size of GUI(just keeping same scale /place)
if your want to do it bigger/smaller ;-)
MUCH better than the last one and I agree it ties in really well with the rest of the theme. I really like the leaves in the top-right.
The only thing I can really criticize about it right now is the corners. Instead of the same bevel all the way around, fill out the top-left and bottom-right so that it seems like it's a solid 3D object. Also, angle the plank dividing lines at the bottom with the same angle as the bevels. It's minor and I'm not 100% it would make it look better, but I think it'd be worth looking into. My other suggestion to try is rotating the planks so their on diagonals and see how that works.
Really, these are just nit-picks/musings. I love your improvements :biggrin.gif:
EDIT: Now that I have it in-game I notice the brightness as the others have. Perhaps just tone down the saturation and darken it a bit?
I've done some thinking and looking around and realized that I haven't seen anyone really re-make the minecart texture. However, what I think needs to happen is to extend the metal down so that it's COVERING the wheel, thus we assume that the wheel is hidden inside the wall of the cart. There's really not much we can do, especially as we realize that the wheels DON'T move and the cart itself hovers. It's a flaw in notch's design (probably brought on by the complexity of moving parts). The only thing I can think of that would correct it is modifying the template and the code itself. If no one else gets to it, I'll probably work on that tomorrow.
You´re a tough client, dragon ... :wink.gif: Sorry, need to do something else tonight, hope I find more time tomorrow ...
Lol blame my dad, that's where I get my attention to detail :tongue.gif: I understand. I have lots of stuff to do myself and rushing a design is just not good in the first place.
Onto my own projects.... I modified the furnace (just the left two images), which is the probably the only original texture that I never really liked. Please feel free to modify over it if you like.
Also, below are a set of panorama pictures I created in my own world. If you study it, there are some flaws, but not anything you'd notice if you weren't looking for them. I smudged the water a lot since minecraft doesn't render the ocean-sky boundary well and the panorama is going to be fuzzy anyway. I think it adds to the effect. I've decided that I'm not the best at panoramas XD
The main problem I saw with the cart was how it wraps the textures.
Making the part between the wheels transparent works until you look at it from underneath the cart. The the bottom of the cart does not attach itself to the cart. Basically the cart is like everything else a cube :smile.gif:
I could just lower the frame over the wheels like you said too which is probably what will need to be done.
The original minecart looks to have wheels which is how I based mine off of.
This is basically my first time I have ever "skinned" anything so I'm learning :smile.gif:
Ohh and I really like the new furnace ... especially the "hot plate" in the upper part. Looks good.
Hmmm.. well the main thing to keep in mind is that it should look good. Not many people would see that cart from below (although that issue could be solved with some modding somewhere... could be interesting to look up). The other aspect is to keep with Soar's original style. Smooth, but detailed in the right places. Almost realistic in some aspects, but without the grittiness of the real world.
The other thing we could do, is let people decide. Give them two solid minecart textures. One with wheels, one without. Their choice. With the wheels I think we might need wheel wells... like a car. I'm pretty sure the last pixel on the bottom can be taken off without ruining yet rounding it slightly... *shrugs* experimentation is needed... and I'm probably being a bit too bossy. XD
Also, thanks :biggrin.gif: I appreciate the feedback.
