Optifine strongly required for full feature support.
First open the 4RCraftAltTexts zip file (Requires Winrar, 7zip, or Winzip. I prefer Winrar) and open your copy of Minecraft then go to your resource packs list and click the "Open Resource Pack Folder" button.
Once that's open drag all the files inside of the 4RCraftAltTexts zip in to your resourcepacks folder,
once that's done go in to the AlternateTextures folder and find one you'd like to try and find the Assets folder inside, copy that and head to your 4RCraftAltTexLayer folder back under the resourcepacks folder and past that inside.
Tell it to overwrite anything it asks about, then head back to Minecraft and add 4RCraftAltTexLayer to your resourcepack load order above 4R Craft.
Go in game and see if the alternate texture you chose works, if so congrats!
+I also suggest turning all of your settings under Video>Quality to on. Except Better Grass; anything but Better Grass.
Story
My name is George R. Browning and I am the latest in a long proud line of archaeologists,
with my partner Elle we plan to pull off the greatest archaeological dig in history.
Despite what the tabloids say I don't have amnesia, my first memory is not of punching a tree, and we're not lost.
We actually chose to come out here on the word of my grandfather
the great Renald A. Browning, in his twilight years he spoke of what he referred to as "The one that got away"
what he meant was the greatest archaeological find ever discovered!
About
4R Craft is a 9 year long side project I started in August 2011.
The goal has been to make it a full cohesive world of its' own that gives a fresh
Minecraft experience while keeping the originals in mind.
Inspired by old-school heavies like Painterly and Doku's RPG hope you all enjoy it.

Pretty simple, you can use my work in remix packs as you like,re-up it on your own download portals if it's down or give it to friends, but credit me when possible and don't use Adfly or similar paid link downloads.
Thanks, as always I appreciate your feedback and comments. : )
About: Hi, this is my first texture pack, I made it over the course of 9 days (All the time I had, I'm afraid) and I couldn't get everything finished, but I'm more than happy to release it as-is for use and remixing.
All the textures were made by hand lovingly and painstakingly. I didn't have time to finish them all so there's still some default textures mixed in.
The items are mostly untouched and replaceable and the mobs are just modified default, also replaceable.
Pack Explanation
4RCraft stands for Rabbittt's RPG Realism Retro Craft, thus 4RCraft.
The textures are a RPG/Realistic mix and the paintings are Retro styled, made by myself.
The pumpkins are angry Tikis, feeding them torches pleases them!
The book on your workbench is your copy of 'How to Craft' you found shortly after arriving on the islands.
The 'rubies' on Chests are carved from the Crystal Roses around the island with your chisel.

Installing
MCpatcher isn't required to use this pack, so just drag it to your Texturepack folder!
There's also an optional MossyCobblestone/Netherrack replacement in the terrain file.
Remixing: If you want to include any textures of the pack in another pack or make a new pack from this pack all you need to do is credit me in any way you see fit, that's it! Feel free to let me know how you use it, too.
Remix Packs: If you have a remix pack using my textures, pm me or post in the thread and I'll put it here!
Banner: If you want a banner to link back here, have one! I also accept these too if you want to make one yourself.

Fixed the title just in-case anyone thought this might be a remix pack itself, it's not! It's completely new and custom besides the remaining default textures.
By the way, feel free to post any pictures, I'll add them to the OP.

While I am extremely against triple posting and bumping ancient topics, I feel the major update to 1.2 that adds full Minecraft 1.3 support is kind of important. Sorry about the triple post though. D:

Alright, apparently there was a change to the Zombie Pigman's file I didn't see and it was causing crazy glitching of the not so fun kind.
So I've updated that and re-uploaded it, so hopefully this fixes everything. Sorry for the inconvenience!
I love that side snow and side grass! That pointed edge looks great! The stone pattern and bricks look great as well, very well done!
The only think I can say is that the rocks in the glowstone could use a slight bit of edge shading, but I still like the idea! Like that, it actually makes sense that it would give off light!

Thank you, and thanks for the feed-back!
Yeah I've unintentionally been ignoring the Glowstone since I've had other things that needed work, but I've gone ahead and followed your advice and the improved Glowstone will be in the next release.

2 years ago, in October, I released 4R Craft 1.3 and added support for Minecraft 1.4 and promised to work on a version 1.4 of 4R Craft. Today I am more than happy to present that version.
I have too much to say so I'll just say what's most important; This has been a life changing experience and totally changed the way I look at Minecraft and the way I experience the game. I hope you all have at least half as much fun experiencing 4R Craft as I have over these last 3 years making it.
Try the Nether on Survival! Especially with one of the other Nether sets I've made.
Haha, really though I hope you guys enjoy this.
I know I've left a lot out of the pictures for 1.4 but trust me, especially if you've played 1.3, some of this stuff you're gonna want to see for yourself.
I already know 4R Craft won't ever be a popular or critically acclaimed pack, but I do still love it. I'll be maintaining 1.4.X releases to update with Minecraft in the future but I think 1.4 is where 4R Craft stops.
I've got a few ideas yet to try for texture packs though.
I've been playing minecraft since it first came out way back when and I've never seen this pack before so I think I would be honored to try it out since you put a ton of effort into making it. I hope more and more people try it out and comment on it because it would be ashamed to let something you put your heart and soul into creating go unnoticed. Thank you for all your hard work.

I am humbled, thank you very much. I truly appreciate your kind words and sentiment. I would also welcome any feelings you have on it as well, even if you outright dislike the whole pack.
what is up with the fire squid? It doesnt really ...fit
Haha I was waiting for someone to ask about that! This thread on Reddit clears things up a bit. But the gist of it is I made a texture based off a child's drawing and made it as faithfully as I could. Decided to keep it in 4R Craft just because.
I think the more surprising thing is someone coming back after 2-3 years and actually updating their pack.
Well it's definitely nice to see a familiar face. I know what you mean though, more than a few places over the years I've just sort of hung around despite not quite feeling in to it.
Haha true. Funny thing is about I'd say a year ago, I was swinging by here and saw someone with an even older pack than mine updating it and adding Mob skins. It was impressive to say the least to see them still working on it.
But really, I've actually been working on it this whole time; I could tell so many stories about how I made textures based off pictures Mojang posted before the Snapshots even hit, hahaha. But I don't want to bore anybody.

Hey guys! Hope you're all having a nice Holiday season, I just wanted to let you all know a few things;
First off, I was rolling around the internet and found someone had posted an older version of 4R Craft on a Brazilian Minecraft forum only to find he took the time to translate the whole thing to his native tongue. (And taking credit for making it, too, but I accepted that would happen a long time ago) People seemed to really like it and it made it to people it otherwise couldn't, which made me think it would be great to get some help from other people translating 4R Craft's text in to other languages! There isn't too much work to do and I wouldn't have any time frame for getting it done, but I'd love to help our non-English speaking friends out. I'll look in to it when I can.
Second, 1.4.1 is planned and has plenty of fixes for things (Misnamed folders vs. the list's names) and nothing else I can reveal right now.
Third, since it's so easy for people to impersonate someone else and steal their hard work, please let me know if you want further evidence 4R Craft is my own baby; I have over 3 years of monthly back-ups as well as a ton of cut content and plenty of XCF files to show for it all.
Lastly I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has supported, enjoyed, or even SEEN 4R Craft over these last 3 years. Thanks for all the fish!

Hello again lovely 'Crafters! I'd like to take you all on a short trip if I may.
If you'll take a second to look through this imgur gallery-
This is 4R Craft 1.0 in development, long before it was a multi-year project. I woke up every day in the month of August 2011 working for hours at a time to get this done in 19 days. That stone texture? The first texture I ever made myself from scratch.
I promised myself I'd finish the entire pack in the stretch of 18 days (But ended up coming back on the 19th day to re-do the resource blocks) and I worked tirelessly to go from no experience to learned in that time.
And that's not very far from how I put together version 1.5, for almost every single day since January first I've woken up to in some way work on the pack, even just simple play-testing.
4R Craft is my baby in a lot of ways and I wanted to give it everything it deserved, so I did. I polished it, expanded on it, gave it tons of secret and alternate textures, and now even given it the story I planned to from the start.
4 years is enough I think.
Now for you all today I have a new version, the final major version of 4R Craft. But really, on to the change log!
-Massive changes and replacements to almost all item textures
-Tons of changes to Block textures
-Tons of bug fixes and new bugs to annoy you to replace them! (Tall grass is fixed, but now I'm pretty sure colored Redstone is forever broken!)
-New Fire texture! It's still in development so feel free to delete it if it's a pain.
-New first post, featuring a retooled version of the original unreleased 4R Craft story.
-New alternate textures for pistons and a few other things
-New block and entity variations, pumpkins being totally noticeable!
-New Winter pack! Tons of winter and winter holiday changes that should totally make you miss the chilliest time of year!
-New DLC puzzle pack, solve some silly mysteries and get a bunch of spoils! (Spoiler: Cut Alternate Textures, skins, forum stuff, and more!)
I want to thank you all for coming on this ride, new or old I'm glad you were here to see it! Besides, you can easily catch up by looking at the second post with the crazy guy that quoted the whole first post anyway.
See you when I see you Crafters!
Once that's open drag all the files inside of the 4RCraftAltTexts zip in to your resourcepacks folder,

not half bad...
here take this
Really. 9 days ago was the first time I've ever set down and made a texture for minecraft from before.
And thanks. : )
By the way, feel free to post any pictures, I'll add them to the OP.
4RCraft Changelog 1.3
Added Minecraft 1.4 textures.
Updated grass side.
Updated all the metal framed wood items.
Updated Block Break animation.
Replaced Planks.
Replaced Cobblestone and Mossy Cobblestone.
Replaced Pistons, Furnaces and Dispensers.
Replaced Netherack.
Replaced SandStone texture.
As always feel free to comment and thanks for downloading!
So I've updated that and re-uploaded it, so hopefully this fixes everything. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Nice job.
