Alright I downscaled the terrain.png to make it playable and after looking at it ingame for a bit I'd say it would be nice if you released an official 128x version of it beside the 256x so more poor people like me can use it
and the only criticism I really have so far is on the glowstone
Something to do with the color of the borders vs. the color of the yellow areas feels weird
I think a little color tweaking on either side would resolve that
There's just something with it that causes it to stick out like a sore thumb for me at the moment
Edit:
Actually I'll go back on my previous statement and say that I formally request lower res releases so that I can enjoy the pack more.
I'm finding an appeal with it at the moment that I've only thus far found with some of Aageon's texturepacks that makes me REALLY want to use the pack
ok.. got a repeater I'm happy-ish with.. and redid the mossy cobble to match the reg cobble again instead of the bricks. It's high contrast to the rest at first glance.. but building with it works really well imo. gonna work on pistons next, and I have an idea for the tracks to make them fit better.. gotta run this one by Scuttles though. I know I said it already another thread.. but I'm really happy with the way this is coming out, and the unusually long time it takes per texture for me to do (4 hours on mossy cobble...yeah..I'm learning here.) feels satisfying. anyway...
@Spruu : no problems for me mate.. tested it on Firefox and IE..
@Cowed: I took a lot of inspiration from packs like Bumpmaft and LB and Soartex.. with the reference to the appeal of Aageon's packs it makes me feel like I'm accomplishing my goal. I know I can't reach the quality of his work right now, but I hope to learn enough to come close one day. :tongue.gif: And about the glowstone...lol I absolutely LOVE the glowstone in Basico and wanted to update it to a little more realistic style. I am going to change the frame shape, but keep it wood..maybe degrade it a bit to be more hellish? idk. so.. to the important part.. once I finish up the terrain and get everything matching to my liking I will convert it to 128x. ( no lower guys...it's a lot of work!) I have all of the single textures in the original 512x that I work in.. so downsizing them shouldn't be too bad. The normals however.....lol
Yeah, it works now but last night I even tried the URL on http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and it too said it was down. Off to try it out. :smile.gif:
I'm noticing some issues with where the textures cut off (not sure if it's due to bump mapping or the actual spacing in terrain.png), are you aware of those or should I document them (grass showing on pure dirt blocks, etc.)? Or are you just looking for stylistic feedback?
I think the main thing that stands out with the glowstone to me is just the fact that the wood in the frame is tinted like a yellow-green and it feels weird

I know of a few glitches, like the line of sidegrass showing under grass blocks.. thats a shader issue. I fixed it before, and will get it tweaked right again. but yeah..any bugs you find, please let me know! I am looking so hard most of the time at what I just did on a specific texture that I overlook stuff in general. I'm open to any feedback honestly. I'll only get better if I see my mistakes and learn to correct them no?
update: first draft of tracks and ladder included, tweaked a bunch of existing stuff, started on the speculars... I'm coming up with a ton of extra ideas, so I'm limiting myself to two alternate texture sets that I'll release when I feel they are adequate. One will be the stone versions that match the pistons( original theme), and one will be a combination of the existing concrete theme infused with the wood. I'm seeing this quickly turning into an rpg pack.
took the day off from the pack... will try to get everything polished a bit more and an update out tomorrow with the new pistons. Maybe part of the new ui if I get it looking the way I want.
thinking about going this route with the plants(tall grass).. similar style.. hand drawn.. this is just a rough draft but want opinions. maybe do a couple more first for a better idea?
I was going on things you said yourself when I said that so
