P.S.
Take your time
P.P.S.
The wait is killing me.
P.P.P.S.
I might not live.
I'll try to get it done before I release version 5 today. I did new water this week and it took up two days alone. Wanted to put a bullet in my brain. But I've got to leave the house for now, so the update might not be for about four hours.
Oh cool look, a new update.
new water, sweet
oh a new door, okay
:ohmy.gif:
:mellow.gif:
:sad.gif:
I'm digging the new wool textures a lot. great job.
Hey, new water is huge. :sad.gif: It's not just draw a little 32x texture like all the others. You have to mess around with lots of subtle little esoteric waves and counterwaves and sparkles and swirls on 32 different frames.
I tried. I actually messed around with creeper for a couple hours, but I couldn't think of anything to do with him. Nothing that was half as good as the other mobs anyway.

How about this. Next update will include all the remaining hostile mobs.
A suggestion for creeper.. keep him close to original! He loses any of his "creeperness" when people make big changes.
Yeah I'll definitely try to keep his face the same. Although one version I was thinking about was going to be insectoid, with buggy eyes and mandibles.
Notch also mentioned that creepers were almost essentially made out of plant material
Notch has some very unusual ideas for monster design... I don't see what plants have to do with explosions. Then again, he made the zombie drop feathers. So I guess logic takes a backseat in minecraft design.
But yeah one idea I had was just a whole mess of leaves, as though someone were wearing a leaf suit for camouflage, with a two creepy eyes and a mouth peeking out.

Also, thanks. The water melted my brain.
How's your back?

Not so good :tongue.gif: Gotta wait until Monday to even make an appointment with a doctor. It makes even the smallest things feel like a massive chore. I hope to get whatever is wrong fixed, but if it's what I think it may be, it might not be able to be fixed very easily. Knowing what is causing me all this pain will still be a relief, though.
Oh my! That would make it certainly fit its name! Creepers gonna creep!

I hope they can fix it. I threw out my back a few weeks ago moving an old TV, so I've got recent experience with back pain. It's pretty much the worst. Crippling. But pain can inspire empathy for others, so it's good in a way. :smile.gif:
I really enjoyed your video, looks like a nice creative process you've got there! Mind if I ask how long you've been making art, and when you decided you wanted to make a texture pack?
I just love what you've done to minecraft. Especially with the redstone :smile.gif:. I think I can speak for alot of people when I say "Don't stop making textures"
Thanks very much. It's appreciative people like you that keep me going.

I've been drawing, painting, sculpting, writing, playing music, etc., etc., etc., since I was a little boy. Anything creative - I've dabbled in it at the very least.
As for the texture pack - I think I played Minecraft nonstop for my first month back in Alpha. Then I got bored with it and downloaded some random texture pack. It wasn't very good. I found out that I could edit the textures myself. Started playing around with it obsessively for a week or so. Was really enjoying it.
But then I had to move to California for a couple months so I stopped playing Minecraft and stopped texturing. After I moved back to Arkansas, I was without my comp for about 6 months because I didn't have the money to have it shipped to me.
Finally got it back a few months ago. Started playing Minecraft again. Decided that I wanted to make a YouTube channel. Saw that Doku had received 100,000 views on his 'House of Doku' video which was posted in his Dokucraft thread. Realized that creating a popular texture pack could be a huge boon to a YouTube channel. Decided to indulge in my passion for texturing and sat down to create a texture pack, a process that I estimated would take a week. Two months and 500 hours of work later, I emerged from my room with a great big bushy beard and bloodshot eyes. Said, "It's ready." Spent a couple weeks making the tour videos and released on June 26. Still going strong.
So what started out as an opportunistic ploy to get YouTube views has become a relaxing hobby and an obsessive passion for me.
AND I've made almost ELEVEN DOLLARS from adf.ly WOOT!!! Gonna buy me a pizza.
Hoping to have all textures 'done' before MC beta 1.8 comes out, and to have the pack fully polished by the time the game comes out of beta.
Pics of the beard or non of this never happened and you are a figment of our imagination.
Sadly, the beard wasn't photographed. But I guess you found me out. My real name is Herobrine and my soul is trapped in Minecraft, so I just paint the ground all day.

Ouch. Those old TVs can be quite heavy :tongue.gif:

Version 5 now up, including your gargoyle texture. :smile.gif: Not sure if it's what you had in mind, but I hope you like it.

No problem, my friend. :smile.gif: Glad you like it.
I ended up with like 4 alternate versions as well, so I'll be putting those out when I get the pack uploaded to mincraftcustomizer.net.... someday.
