What you need is Optifine, not MCPatcher. And since Optifine now is a Forge mod, you should also have Forge (although Optifine can still be used as a Jar mod).
A suggestion for Emperor Doom: Perhaps you could divide the mod addons texture section into a pre-1.6.x section and a 1.6.x+ section as the pre-1.6.x textures won't work at all anymore on 1.6.x and nobody can tell which ones have been updated and which ones have not.
As a note I had to change the beacon block gui a little bit as the VoxelMap depends on some textures from it. As a result the green check mark on the beacon block gui now appears on top of the graphic crossing it out when it's not ready to be used.

Do you mean the mod itself or the add-on resource pack?
For the mod itself, it's just like any other Forge mod. Install Forge, download the mod, then put the mod in your mods folder. Done.
For the add-on resource pack, open your vonDoomCraft_BETA_3_9.zip resource pack in any Zip editor (WinZip, WinRar, 7zip, jZip, the, list goes on). Then open my zip file, vonDoomCraft_VoxelMap.zip, in the editor as well. Extract/move the files from vonDoomCraft_VoxelMap.zip into vonDoomCraft_BETA_3_9.zip, close it and you're done.
ok i have uploaded preliminary shader support for 1.6.2. currently only bumpmaps. p.o.m textures currently dont work neither does specular. as shader mod is still beta this will change. once seus supports these things again my p.o.m textures will return. download from link in my sig. open .zip and drag assets folder into vdc. i'm getting some pics now.
Zomb69, do you have to make shader files for every texture that exists or is there a more general way that shaders get applied? I'm wondering some of the shaders you have made would just work automatically with the add-on packs I've done or if more work would have to be done for them (which I don't expect you to do [but I might]).

yes each texture requires a bumpmap texture, ive never done textures for mods but i'm sure its possible. if you want i can do some textures for you, just let me know.

Ok. So I tried the Shaders Mod again after I had gotten my video options to give me around 80-120fps consistently with all my mods and this hi-res resource pack, and it still brings my fps down to 15-40. Of course, stupid me, I now realize I had me render distance on more than normal and the Shaders Mod specifically says to put it on short+16. So I'm gonna go back and try that tonight. If I can't get Minecraft into a playable state after that then I'm not going to bother until I upgrade my machine again.
ahh i see. that is bumpmap textures for shadermod. i have fixed in my version and will be fixed soon today. to fix now (if not using shadermod) just redownload vdc 3.9 (you will need to do this anyway when my shader upload is finished)

you need to install it the old way manually. after installing forge, open versions folder, open 1.6.4-Forge9.11.1.916 folder, open 1.6.4-Forge9.11.1.916.jar with winzip, do not delete meta-inf folder. open optifine.zip and drag contents into forge.jar
that should do it. only ctm, aa and af dont work so turn them off

my internets been playin up. hopefully i've fixed it now. i will take a look and upload temporary fix.
edit: well ive been testing 1.6.4 and haven't found any incorrect textures. please give me a sceenshot. are you using optifine?
i've done all the bumpmap textures, moving on to specular. however only seus n2 has support for specular atm. tell ya what though its looking amazing!
i'll get some screenshots and release this arvo after work.
