I'd thought about that a little... What I might do is just copy/paste the four ++'s I've got in the crafting panel to the rest of the item-holding spaces. It'll be subtle enough to keep it looking clean and neat while still offering just enough visual cue to show the spaces available.
Scratch that.
I just tried it out, and I'd honestly rather keep it looking clean. When you hover your mouse over the panel, there are squares highlighted to show the grid layout. If that's not enough to figure it out, then me thinks a "too bad" is in order.
Fair enough.
If I do end up changing the steampunk pack at all, it'll be minor tweaks where terrain is concerned, because quite frankly, I like it too. :tongue.gif:
My recommendation would be to change the following blocks in either this pack or the Steam pack:
Iron Block
Gold Block
Diamond Block
Jukebox
Workbench
Furnace
Chests
Torch
Redstone stuff
Beyond that, I think (in my opinion) the terrain can stay the same between the two packs, as it's a nicely done terrain that fits both. My only other suggestion (for both packs) is either make the iron ore more of a silver color, or modify the iron armor/weapons/items to match the bronze color you've used.

I do believe that every one of those suggestions will soon be implemented.
Thank you, good sir.
Update!
Made the Redstone stuff more classic fantasy-y, turned Iron Doors into cage-type bars, fixed the Jukebox, Touched up the Dragon Bone Block, tweaked the 'shrooms, and a few other little touches. (Still need to fix TNT... Thoughts?)
Awesome texture pack. Just started a new game and loaded this pack up and so far I can't find much bad about it. The only thing I'm not sure if I like is the color of the iron ore vs. the color of iron gear. Though, in my head at least, I've been able to explain this as the iron is refined during the smelting process. Well just wanted to get my two cents in, keep up the good work.

Refining is kinda how I saw it. I've looked at pictures of iron ore online, and they mostly have at least streaks of that sort of off-coppery rust color, which would make sense since it's, you know, iron. :tongue.gif: Figured the bars you got were something akin to low-grade steel rather than crude iron ingots.
That said, should I maybe desaturate the iron ore a bit more? I took it down from the blaring orange they started as, but they might still be a *bit* colorful.
Yeah, I believe that desaturating it a little would help. Right now it is a little too bright and actually when I first saw it in game I thought for sure it was redstone dust. Just try for a more earthy tone and I think you'll do good.
This is my new favorite texture pack! :biggrin.gif:
I really like the idea of mining with dragon bones you find deep underground rather than diamonds deep underground.
And, the textures just make the game feel fresh and more fun to me. :smile.gif:
Hehe, thank you to everyone for the support, so far. I'm gonna go do a couple more touch-ups, then maybe re-post some new pictures. Update to come very soon.
-Iron block color fixed. (It no longer looks like a mass of lumpy oranges!)
-GUI improved: Furnace image now a bit more background-y, chests look like the ones in-game, including brass edges.
-Armor icons and files improved slightly. Iron, Bone, and Gold armor all look a touch better.
-Colors tweaked slightly for the wood block.
-"TNT" block has been updated to show a fire on the side. Now you KNOW it's dangerous!
-Gold block and Ore-Block look a bit brighter and more, you know, golden.
-Arrows, when fired, now match the color scheme of the inventory icons.
I might have missed one or two little notes, but you get the idea.
Lemme know if you guys come up with any more suggestions.
STILL TO COME - Full Mob check-over, tweak, and/or redo.
Just a quick make-over for the front page, with all current images. I need to figure out how to edit this new pop-up system, because "Diamond Pick" and "Mushroom" are sorely incorrect these days.
If you're talking about how the names of items pop up when you point at them in your inventory, then you need to go to the lang folder in your minecraft.jar, and open the file inside using Notepad or something similar.
So far, I cannot see a way that you can update that for everyone with your pack, I think we all need to edit it ourselves, sadly :/
Well, balls to that. :sad.gif:
It would be lovely if that could change, since it's now a part of the look of the game.
Blast and confound it!
I just edited the entire "lang" file, got everything lined up, saved, updated the .zip, installed it in the texture pack, loaded it up... And it didn't make a lick of difference. :sad.gif: It doesn't seem to load the "Lang" folder from a texture pack yet. Buggers.
Oh well, I'll keep my eye on it. The changes are in there now, so if they start working, then they do.
Scratch that.

You deserve a hug. * downloads *
I'll do my best to bring it along as quick as possible. :smile.gif:

Do lemme know what you think.
Mushroom Salads! Tools improved upon! Saddles fit in their spaces!

Your praise is muchly appreciated.
I'll do what I can to keep these things up to date and "top-Notch". (lol.)
