Alright, I decided to get the texture out of the door today. Thank you guys for all the wonderful comments from just the pictures.
Please enjoy this texture pack for yourselves, and don't be afraid to suggest ideas. I really liked the idea of changing the pumpkin into a paper lantern from one of the users here.
Everything looks beautiful so far!
I agree with Peasant and say maybe more breezy on dirt and grass.
Also, paper pumpkin jack-o-lanters - AMAZING IDEA!
I think it would match the rest so well. They already look amazing tho, so it's ndb - dont feel pressured to do so.
Put an eye and a mouth with a tongue on the paper lantern to make it a Tsukumogami Youkai :3 (they are normal objects that gain life after 100 years of existence.
It looks even better in the actual game, thanks! What're the chances of Amaterasu or even Susano to replace the base character model? I didn't realize at first, but Misa's pack uses an HD character model even, so it could be made to look pretty cool.
To get the fire to show up, ChaoticEvl, you just need to turn off "Animated Fire" in Xau's patch.
Just installed this and it looks great only 2 small problems. the sun is white instead of firey and fire itself isn't changed.
I'm aware of the problem, Notch has code implemented to put a white filter over the sun. I have actually disabled it by decompiling the game and editing the source code but, even more problems appear when I do that, so unfortunately it is unfixable at the moment. And as DogBackward said, you need to check off animated fire when using xaus HD fix, although it won't be animated anymore.
Just a few personal preferences and some ideas after a few minutes with the pack:
Is there any chance of getting a windowed wooden door in the final version? Even just as an optional, I'd like to be able to see out before exiting my home. Also, a less stick-like torch would be nice. Not a huge deal, I just think torches with a little more shape to them look better. Like Doku's or Misa's, that sort of thing.
Oh, and are we getting swords and katanas for weapons, or brushes? If nothing else, I think the diamond sword should be a brush. Also, for the art, I'm thinking Issun would be a great fit for all the 1x1 panels, in different poses or summat. I wish there were more 1x2 tall panels, but those can prolly go to the people types, like Susano and the like. Ammy gets the big 3x4, of course, while the two 4x4's look perfect for big landscape scenes. 2x2's are good for enemies, maybe?
Speaking of enemies, will they be included at all? I mostly play on peaceful (I like building a little more than I like dying constantly), but I switch over from time to time to dabble in monster-hunting.
Anyway, thanks again. I doubt I'll be switching from this one for quite some time.

•I have no idea which panel your referring to. How did you get those dimensions? As far as I'm concerned there's only four panels.
-Your inventory
-The chest inventory (this inventory panel is cut in half by the game on small chests)
-The workbench
-The furnace
•I do plan to do a revamp of all the items. Brushes sound like an excellent alternative to katanas, although I think different swords would be cooler to do.
•I will redesign enemies in the future. In the meantime I would like to improve more on the texture.png.
•I know the torches look horrible, they will be improved.
This is absolutely amazing. Definitely my favorite HD pack, maybe even my favorite pack of any resolution (sorry, Painterly). However, like what DogBackward said, I'd really like to have a window in both doors (or at least the wooden one, I don't really use iron doors and a window would mess up the existing design; the wooden one could maybe have the green area translucent or something).
Also, of katanas for weapons (Celestial Brush for diamond sword? Hmm...) and retextured mobs. The paintings, however, may be a problem if you decide to use official concept art and/or screenshots.

I do have one suggestion. Maybe a little less contrast between the cobblestone and smooth stone.
At the moment there seems to be a much contrast, which in my opinion makes the cobblestone really stick out among the smooth stone when compared to other packs. It's not too big of a problem, it's just the only problem that I have noticed.
Other than that great job on the pack! I can't wait until the finished product.
Keep up the good work! :]
I love the cobblestone, though, don't change it. Or at least include this version in the file for those who like it, if you do change it. Mossy cobble looks amazing.
I was wondering, though, if the TNT might look better as a full-on cube. As it is, it looks kinda like a sticker on a box, rather than an actual entity on its own. I know Okami's bomb was spherical, but maybe a cube-shaped bomb would even fit Minecraft's style better? I dunno, just a thought.
Oh, and for the art (kz.png, I mean), one of the two 3x4 pieces could totally be a nifty map of Nippon.
And what about reflectors and prayer beads for the swords? Or make a mix-up:
Wooden Sword: Susano's wooden sword (tiny leaf included, of course)
Stone Sword: Basic reflector
Iron Sword: Steel katana
Diamond Sword: Celestial brush
Gold Sword: Golden prayer beads

THESE are perfect Ideas and I love you DogBackward for having posted them.
I was wondering if you could add the outlines (like the ones you have on the grass) to some other blocks. Any freestanding blocks almost need them in my opinion. Example: the trees could use vertical outlines. The furnace, chests, and workbench could also have the outlines (with your artistic decisions on placement). Basically I just loved the outlined look of everything in the game. :smile.gif:
I don't think you need to change the cobblestone, but maybe all stone related block should be the same base colour. They would meld together better if the base colours were all the same and the differences where that they had different shading and outlines.
*EDIT- I almost forgot about the bucket! I was flipping through the instruction booklet for the game admiring the likeness and I saw this picture of a bucket being filled with water (page 20 on the Wii booklet). It just got me thinking of awesome designs for the items and I thought maybe the booklet could give you inspiration too!

Thank you so much for all the suggestions Dog, I am working on swords asap.
I think I can turn the bow and arrow into one of the rosary beads because it is one of the projectile weapons in the game.
I would like to be able to use actual swords for all of the swords, even though some of the reflectors may suit the material better.
• Wooden sword will definitely be Susano's sword.
• Stone sword could be the Eighth Wonder.
• I'm thinking about Oki's Kutane for the iron sword.
• I want to use the Thunder Edge for the Gold sword, even though its the most powerful glaive in Okami and gold is as weak as wood in Minecraft I think it should still be included.
• Tsumugari resembles diamond the most, although it is the weakest glaive in Okami.
Not sure about using a brush as a sword, even though technically it is the most powerful weapon in Okami.
There's so much room for personal preference in this area, I may just draw all the items and have you guys arrange them to how you think they should be arranged.

Ach, sorry, shoulda been more clear. I meant the art in kz.png, for when you put up paintings.
Tis a shame.. I hope you fix it soon! It's an awesome pack..
