You will lose details when downsampling, remember. You will be throwing away 75% of the pixels so will be losing 75% of the detail.
On the subject of Wolves, Randomobs say there is a showstopper problem with the wolf/dog textures that completely prevents them enabling wolf and dog textures (even without the issue of having the pack remember the colour skin of animals you have tamed). At the moment it is not a case of "we will have it fixed in a while" but more "we don't think we can actually get it to work at all". Long story short, there will not be any wolf texture support in Randomobs in the near future.
hey guys I found the solution to my black screen. it was my Java that was 32-bit instead of 64bit, since my Windows 7 is 64bit. just downloaded the 64bit and it worked =] this could help lots of dudes like me lol great texture btw, looks like LB photo realistic pack but better.
Er, that information would be in the Download and Installation instructions on page one I suspect. What may be confusing you is the adfly page on the main download link. Watch the top right of the page for a moment and you should see a "Skip this ad" button. When it allows you, click it to get to the download page but be careful - some of the ads hide behind fake download buttons. You want the one which says "Click here to start download from MediaFire".
This mod replaces the standard 16x16 minecraft textures with more detailed 64x64 ones and optionally tells you how to install the Randomobs add-on which chooses a random skin every time you meet a cow, sheep, creeper etc. See the screenshots and read the first post. You must follow the installation instructions *exactly* to get the mod to work.
This texture pack is just amazing, specially with the recommended mods. I had been playing MC mostly to make experiments with a lot of mods, but now, with this pack, I find myself playing just for the pleasure of seeing the scenery again, like the first time I played the game. And the monsters have actually gave me a jump or two again, even the zombies! That headless one, god dammit.
I would also said that there needs to be support for the aether, but I fear my comp wouldn't be able to manage that mod with this texture pack -unless I go into the whole modifying the java allocated memory-, still, just the normal game with this texture is awesome enough for me. I just can't wait to find slimes, they look cool on the pic.
Aaaand that's why I need to read before I post, I was just in a hurry to compliment this pack, that's my excuse. I fully support Misa's rationale for not making aether textures, like I said, just he normal game with this pack becomes new again. And I've also seen somebody else made aether support and I may end up trying it.
Incredible pack, the only one I care to play with actually.
Only a single thing I don't like is that it's somewhat hard to differentiate between diamond and iron tools, both in icons and when equipped. Would be nice if diamond tools looked a bit more....diamondy, as opposed to just grey. (Yes I know diamonds are not green IRL like in minecraft)
Diamond tier tools are light blue with white highlights, not grey.
The blades of the sword and axe are completely different than the iron counterparts, too.
One could see how the pickaxe is close to the iron one both in colour and silhouette, but it's also the most inflexible tool in design. A super-ornate design would be impractical on a such a heavy-duty tool. It wouldn't look right.
So what exactly would be done to it? "Make it look a bit more diamondy" is a vague suggestion.
That's how real cut diamonds are. Flat and colourless. Nothing like vanilla's solid cyan.
