I liked everything in the vid, but I feel like the diamond hoe moves a little too fast in my opinion. btw what's left for you to work on
Lol! More a case of, "will I ever catch up!" The answer being, "probably never!", but it means there's always something to tinker with. All the new mobs will definitely be last on the list of things to do, unless I'm intrigued or inspired by something. These days I hardly ever have mobs switched on, and seeing as how I only play on the 'surface' with a broken world it's unlikely I'll get inspired very soon.
I like my tools to look like they can do some real damage!
Seriously though, they are only two frame animations where the rotational movement is an illusion created by flicking back and forth between two positions on the axis. If I were to slow it down the rotational illusion would be lost. Also I didn't want to have over-complicated mechanisms as they could quickly become very distracting in survival mode.
See the tools more like small portable tractor implements like 'seed drills' and tree stump grinders...that kind of thing!
The new stuff looks great, though the tools seems to be upside down.
If you look at the body of a modern chainsaw, which it's kind of loosely based on, I think you'll see the design is about right for it to be held two handed with a grip at the back and on top, so you'd be holding it with both arms extended out front...possibly with a leather strap over your shoulder to carry most of the weight.
Glad you liked...and thanks again for the item mirroring detective work.
I'm hoping to upload the GS v18 Update this weekend sometime. Can't say exactly when, as I'm currently stuck renovating a house and not sure when exactly I'll have some free time, but this weekend is the plan!
The 'Reminder'
The main base GS pack will not now come with 'copper pipes' for redstone dust as standard. It will have some nice crystalline, sparkly redstone dust instead. However, fear not, to get back to my old copper pipe system, you'll need to download a new little add-on pack called 'GS Redstone Pipes'. This add-on pack goes in the Resource Pack folder in Minecraft and is then dragged over to the 'Selected Resource Packs' to sit above the main GS v18 pack...unless of course you prefer to have the sparkly redstone dust trails instead.
...and that was the reason for having the copper pipes now as an add-on pack, it gives you the choice to have one or the other texture. Unfortunately it's not possible to have the pipes as standard and then have crystalline dust as the add-on. For complicated reasons it wasn't possible to do it that way round.
I will upload this little add-on pack as soon as I can after I've edited things over on my Curse/Forge pages. I will need to create a new page over there for this add-on pack, but as I haven't done any editing over there for nearly two years I'll probably be a little slow and rusty.
Here's the video I made that shows the traditional crystalline trail of standard dust and the GS Redstone Pipes add-on pack in action. Just skip to 8:52 to see the relevant part of the video:
SO many nice effects and animations..., and the details and consistency..., very professional.
And the map is astonishing. (is that avail for d/l someplace here?) sorry to sound ignorant for asking
Many thanks! Glad you like the new stuff.
Welcome to the Minecraft Forums, mate.
Haha...I get asked often about 'Newglim', my six year old city world build. I Started it in 2010 and haven't worked on any other world since, other than starting new worlds in 'FeedtheBeast' in survival.
It's a very broken world with lots of glitches now and although updated constantly it's impossible for me to enjoy all the new things in Minecraft these past few years as I've already explored vast areas and even things like villages and mines are none existent.
It's now my relaxing personal testing ground...and as I'm a cranky old 'so-and-so' (imagine Clint Eastwood in 'Gran Turino') I don't like the idea of other people walking around on my lawn!
The new stuff looks great, though the tools seems to be upside down.
Just had another look at my vid again, and I see what you mean. The diamond tool items are displaying the right way up in the inventory and item frame, but they get turned upside down in the hand! Heck! That's another annoying Minecraft trait then.
Going to be a case of deciding which way up to have them then.
I won't make any changes now for this update, but I suppose I could flip the items over for the next update so they're the correct way up for holding in 1st person perspective. It's always possible to manually rotate them when displayed in item frames. Unfortunately that would still leave them upside down in the inventories.
A 3rd option would be for me to edit the design of the 'steam power unit' slightly, so there isn't an obvious 'up' or 'down'.
All this anticipation... I feel like a kid on December 23rd! Everything is really looking (and might I add "sounding") great, Glim!
It's nearly ready, just last minute checks to track down any silly mistakes or place-holders from other packs that I've used to help understand how things work, but I've a busy weekend tiling a RL kitchen too and it's lovely and sunny here in the UK at the mo'...very rare atmospheric conditions probably!
Have updated my Curse/Forge page to get rid of pack version specific references, like my main page here, so that I don't need to keep editing every time I upload an update. That way I'll be more enthusiastic about updating regularly.
I need to watch Gran Torino again, indeed, a great movie!

Hope it doesn't disappoint. Remember there are still many new block and item textures to work on, but this update will have lots of new things and most important...will work correctly with MC v1.11.2.
Currently trying to remind myself how to upload to Curse/Forge.

....Just a little more patience to ask of you. Will hopefully be loading this up tomorrow.
Please enjoy all the new things in Glimmar's Steampunk WIP v18 for now.
As always lots to do, but lots to play with.
I am very grateful to everyone who has continued to pop in with encouraging comments over the past few years. As any artist will tell you, it really does make a difference to get a nice word or two, especially when the work gets tedious or the 'muse' decides to leave you stranded!
Glimmar, I am so sorry about your bad news! Sometimes it seems as though life is one trial after another; just when you feel as though things are going smoothly and life is good, something takes your breath away.
Don't worry about us (and please, don't apologize!). You have given us a wonderful pack to explore, and we will be here when you return. Sending my thoughts and wishes for a peaceful and uneventful resolution to your family troubles.

Great work on those carpets, the brown one is excellent.
Owner & Creator of Aquain, a huge underwater city on the Opticraft server. Check out info on my underwater city here. Also creator of an art deco-like resource pack to go along with the city. Help me develop my resource pack here.
Many thanks, Ozzy. Much appreciated.
Great work on that ctm of yours too.
Thanks for the welcome.
And I completely understand about Newglim. I do and feel the same, I just have not gotten around to building on such an elaborate scale.
Gran Torino, great movie!

Woohoo! thanks Glim!
Looks awesome Glim, the new sea lantern looks great.
I've had some really bad news concerning my family. I'm not going to be about for the foreseeable future.
Just when I thought I'd sorted everything out around here and was able to make a clean start again.
Life keeps kicking us in the teeth.
I'm so sorry.
