I agree with you, the current natural rocks look fine . it's the cobblestone . and changing one texture (cobblestone) is much easier than changing 4-5 textures (natural rocks).
just so you know, I'm somewhat confused about what we are talking about . and i think i'm confusing us even more ! >.>
Just to clarify, what grease lightning (he says it looks like bricks, his personal dislike) and i (similarities) wanted is a variant of the current cobblestones . i think he got the bricks mixed up ? or maybe i'm the one that's mixed up .
what's that box beside the sand (left side) ? and the one above that one beside the sand ?
the one above the one beside the sand is cobblestone right ? since it has a similar texture to natural rocks like you said ?
here's what i think . although they may have a similar pattern, you can easily differentiate them because one has colours on it e.g. diamond whereas cobblestone is just texture right ? but it'd be much easier if cobblestones had a totally different texture .
The one to the left of sand is bedrock. The one above bedrock is natural stone. The problem with leaving natural stone the way it is, and changing cobblestone to be more like cobblestone is that cobblestone would have a very similar pattern. It wouldn't look the same, but it'd be similar in design. When it comes down to it, it'll be very hard to differentiate between natural rock and cobblestone if they're of even a vaguely similar design, which is what will happen because there's only so many ways to make cobblestone.
Regardless I will look into it, because it seems like cobblestone is getting the most gripe.

okay i'm officially confused (: so that's bedrock . and by natural stone ...
a few minutes later ...
i found myself a texture pack template . i finally realize what is what .
okay i was the one that's confused . my bad .
tbh, i find natural stones to look like chocolate hazelnuts . lol >.> seriously . makes me feel hungry just by looking at it . which is good and bad :tongue.gif:
now that i know what bedrock and cobblestone is, i find them to be okay but ... sometimes it's just weird because in game, natural stones are flat but they seem to be popping out because of the design . but hey, i'm okay with it (: who doesn't love chocolate anyway ? it'd nice to be in a chocolate filled world !
anyway ...
i guess i'm pretty much okay now (: lesser reflection on the glass would be nice too .
Will be waiting to see what you'll be updating your pack to.
I can't be bothered to write a guide on installing it though right now, I'll get to that tomorrow. However, you should use this: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=46173
Tomorrow I'll write up a short guide on installing it with custom water and all and update the original post.

Yay for zip (:
so far the sword, shovel and pick (all except diamond) and that thingy beside flint, is that coal?, looks amazing . the rest are still pretty much default yes ? will be waiting for you to complete your items .
Okay, original post updated with the latest zip and guide to installing it, as promised. Hopefully no one encounters any problems, and the bug with Xau's patcher and custom animated water kind of complicates the process a little.
You should speed up the water animation a bit, and maybe add a little bar to the top part of the furnace (like half a half step or something like that). Other than that, everything seems great. I don't exactly like the inventory either. It looks a bit too bright ingame. Keep up the great work though, I'm loving it.
I'm hesitant to make these minor adjustments like lightening stone because it seems everyone has their own little preference. One person may like lighter stone, one person may like darker. One person may like the stone less brown, others may think it's fine. I think at this point it's impossible to tune it to make everyone happy, so I'm not sure what will happen. Hopefully those who want darker/lighter/color adjustments will be able to do those themselves, as releasing tons of packs just for minor adjustments seems like a waste.
I started on the creeper. It seems almost taboo to touch something that is pretty much Minecraft's mascot, but I guess it had to be done sooner or later:

I'm loving your animated water (using it in game as we speak)
Do you have any plans on doing animated lava?
Hopefully, though I'm not exactly excited about it. I think it will be one of the last things I do, if I even do it, unless I suddenly come up with an idea. Main reason is because the default is animated by code, and doesn't look horribly bad(unlike the water).
I've finished the Skeleton. I'm trying to maintain the spirit of the skins, hence why the Skeleton maintains a somewhat squished face with squinted eyes.
And here is a screenshot(Sorry, but I had mixed up the legs/arms, but they're fixed now).

are you planning to do a custom flowing water anim too, or are you sick of drawing water tiles at this point lol
And yes, eventually I will have to make waterfall and flowing water animations. D:
Looks like you added a couple buckets too :tongue.gif:
I have to say, I have yet to see anyone's items come close to comparing with yours, this is truly amazing work.
The only thing I dare request is a slight lightening of stone. :x

It was heavily inspired by: http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uplo ... reeper.png
I'm not sure when I will be able to get an in-game screenshot. Hopefully someone comes through with: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=63425
Though hunting down mobs is really troublesome business considering how much I sit and fine-tune my stuff.
Do you have any plans on doing animated lava?
Do what's in your heart. ;-}
