I come back to the forums, and what's the first thing I see? I'm so tired of people stealing my textures...
I looked at your pack and I don't really see any similarities, maybe the refined wood, but that's about it. Kas has been working on this pack for a long time now, if you post your pack on SomethingAwful forums then maybe I can understand, because as far as I know Kas has never been to these forums. I'll PM you with his email so you can inquire about stolen textures.

Is the green creeper square a mob spawner?
Yes, but there are alternative textures for the mob spawner if that isn't what you want. Check out the Painterly Pack Customizer Tool for a customized pack.

You should show more respect when you don't know what you're talking about.
The last four (and the bucket) are /perfectly identical/. Didn't even bother changing my stuff. Just copy-paste, not ask for permission, not give the author any credit, and hey, instant fanboys who will lie for you.
He also copied my sun, shadow, and rain. The GUI and zombie are very derivative of mine, but at least I don't think they were copied.

Holy **** even the sand is the same with the brightness altered.
Alright a few things, the apples, mushrooms, and diamonds in both the packs are
just recolored versions of the existing original sprites included with the game. Kas's pack does not even use the sand, train track, mushroom, diamond or redstone texture you've posted, and you can check your pack against the one on the site if you want. The tools look nothing alike really, and the sand textures you posted aren't even used in the pack.
Also, though Kas doesn't wish to be roped into this drama, I'll quote him on one thing-
There was an earlier version of his pack which, to his credit, DID use
his rain, sun and shadow textures, his ore textures (which he didn't
even bother to comment on), and his armor, zombie, pig and cow skin.
But this is like, going back weeks, and at the time they were still in
the pack, they were fully credited to him. So maybe he had an older
version of the pack he got from somewhere, like the old link before
painterly was up, or some other site or person, but even then he
shouldn't care because those versions DID credit him - however, and
again I repeat you're more than welcome to download the pack as it
currently exists and check - his stuff has not been a part of the pack
for a while now.
So really I can understand where your coming from Taehl, but ever since the Painterly Pack has gone live, there is nothing even remotely similar to yours in the current version.

Seriously, this is the best he can do? How convenient that he changes a few of the textures THE VERY SAME DAY that I point out they're stolen. The images I have in the comparison pic were taken from his site less than twelve hours ago. But now a number of the ones I pointed out are different. The sand texture was slide up and left a bit, and part of it flipped. The bucket had a few pixels of shading added to it. The red dust was changed. The tools are still just slightly tweaked versions of mine - most of the shapes are exactly the same. Just look at the color of the diamond (HSL 140, 28, 125, compared to HSL 140, 40, 125), which I chose specifically for my mod, and is nothing like that in the default game. What's more likely - he draws EXACTLY the same hue AND lightness by pure accident, or that he just upped the saturation of my tools?
But even if he does go and make a few minor tweaks, it doesn't change the fact that a bunch of it was stolen. If he took anything from me, unless he changes every bit of it, he needs to give credit. He also was supposed to ask my permission, but it's obviously too late for that.
PS) His claim that my stuff is "just a recolor of the default" is a false insult, since I redrew all the shading and made new colors for my items. I used the same outline (in some cases) on purpose, to make it easier to recognize things. Seeing my shading in "his" items is how I know he stole them.
Is the texture working for anyone on version 1.1.0? Because it's not for me.
It is for me, try re-downloading/re-applying the latest version, as he's added a compass textures and fixed a few little things.

Dude, calm down. OK, so maybe a couple of his textures are the same as yours. Both your packs are free, so it's hardly copyright infringement or anything serious. If you had politely stated that a few of your textures are remarkably similar, Kas would probably look at them, say 'Oh yeah, sorry about that' and changed them. But you complained, and thus an argument was started. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm simply saying politely ask him if perhaps he can change a couple of the textures a bit. Problem solved :-D

I see the comparison, and Kas's only look similar to yours, they aren't copies at all, you are much lazier than Kas as Kas actually updates the texture pack, yours is, what, 10 updates out of date?
Oh yeah, and Kas's isn't an eyesore.
Thanks guys, words like these enable Kas to continue he fine work with many many future updates. Hell I even just took the costumizer tool for a spin and I love it. When has a texture developer ever made something like that?
Look for future updates to be posted here soon!

I re downloaded it from his site when I saw that he'd updated it but I don't seem to be getting the updated version. Do you have the link to the current version with the compass???
Edit: I just tried downloading it again and I'm still getting the version without the compass. grrr

Try using the costumizer tool on the web site, I believe that well net you the latest version that was updated today. That way you don't have to mess with much except for applying it.
Update-
Hey everyone - just wanted to let you guys know I fixed some minor tiling issues on the grass and sand tiles, changed the claywad texture to something that looks less like a meatball, futzed with gunpowder a bit, and fixed a couple minor graphical glitches here and there.
Also I finally swapped over the ore on 9/10 after I did the compass update (the last tiles I had to redo) and didn't figure it was worthy of a post but there you have it.
Please upgrade to the newest version of Painterly to get the fixes - it makes things look a bit nicer and tile better.

Scratch that, I figured it out. I was compressing the minecraft folder that i had extracted minecraft.jar into instead of just the files in the minecraft folder.
Thanks for your help anyway, that customizer thing is pretty cool so I'll have a play around with.

Ah, glad things worked out for ya!
A little mini-tip, if your using winrar, you can just open the minecraft.jar in winrar, drag-n-drop the textures files in the window then winrar will overwrite them for ya with out ever having to mess with decompressing and what not.

Hey, love the pack and these newest editions but could you please pass a few things onto him, Duffman?
- Signs have a missing pixel on the very bottom left of them. I know the ones placed on a wall have this issue but not sure about the sign post ones.
- Kas's Iron doors have two window portions but that causes a visual bug across the bottom window portion. This is due to the fact that doors are two blocks tall and the top of the bottom block is considered the bottom for the top block buuuuuut, Kas's iron door's bottom window portion is too long and goes down into the bottom block of the door. LOL, thats probably pretty confusing, I don't know how to explain it really but there is truely a visual bug.
- Could you please ask him to make an alt texture for the tree leaves? As they are right now they are almost the same exact color of the grass and just doesn't look very good to me. If you could get him to add a darker, richer green color for either the leaves or grass that would be awesome. Thanks.
- The chicken's eyes are along the sides of its head which makes it look REALLY weird from head on like when its facing and looking at you. Also, the cows don't have horns like Notch has made them to have. Hornless cows isn't really an issue though.
Great pack and I hope he sticks with it. Theres gonna be A LOT, LOT, LOT more to texture as Notch keeps adding things so I hope he likes doing this and doesn't get burnt out.
I modified the glass texture so it looks good on my side..
and the cursor.
Here's my cursor/glass:
Hope you consider it :biggrin.gif:

I have a little suggestion for the pack... I always thought perhaps the planks were a bit dark. Could Kas make an alternate texture so that it's a similar shade to the old planks? For some reason, the planks just don't look right to me... Great pack though.
Download the pack, go to the downloaded file, open it with winrar, go to start > run > type %appdata%/.minecraft/bin, open minecraft.jar with winrar and then take all the downloaded texture pack files and place them into the minecraft.jar file. It's really not that hard..
I'll be sure to pass that onto him Dri, or maybe he checks this thread ever since I linked him to it (I doubt it though). Oh and it looks like you quoted the wrong person lilyo :tongue.gif:
As NoMercy has noted there was indeed a massive update yesterday, I'll be setting out to try some of these out right away.
