I've fixed the download links and stuff. I'm not going to redo this whole post right now because frankly I don't give enough of a damn to do so. That said this isn't dead, just kind of spasming on the ground choking on it's own saliva.
CAUTION: This modification makes items all weird and **** while keeping recipes the same (ie strings are now wax and three wads of wax with three sticks somehow makes a rifle. How you ask? ALCHEMY!) If you don't want to be confused then play without the .lang file a few times to get a good grip for it.
NOTE: As of September 8th, this texture pack requires you to patch minecraft in order to experience all of the nauseatingly ugly features.
YOU ONLY NEED TO CHECK THE OPTION THAT SUPPORTS HIGHER RESOLUTION TEXTURE PACKS AND KEEP TO ALL ANIMATED TEXTURES TO "DEFAULT."
This modification is compatible with the Minecraft as of June 8th, 8:55 PM PST.
If you like this and would like to see it finished add this to your signature to spread my work.
Note1: In the Texture Pack there is a folder labeled "lang." Go into this folder and copy the file inside to the corresponding directory inside minecraft.jar. You must delete the META-INF folder in minecraft.jar for this to work. This adds a lot to the game atmosphere and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Note2: Do not use the lang file the first time or you will become confused!
Note3: If you are going to spend time in the nether I strongly urge you to apply the soundpack before doing so! This adds a lot to the game atmosphere and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
HEY! THIS IS IMPORTANT!!
Gloomcraft SoundPack Clarification: I did not make any of the sounds in this soundpack, I lifted from them from this game and some other sources.
For simplicity's sake I've stuffed the Sound Mod Enabler .class file directly into the soundpack, just drag it out and stab it into your minecraft.jar file or whatever.
This looks awesome (and much scarier than the default). I especially approve of the flesh zombie; this game desperately needs a red-colored mob. Actually, I like all of the colors you chose for this set (maybe except for the Creeper, but that's only because I have a special place in my heart for the classic green kind; your version still looks great). The white/invisi-spider in particular is horrifying. xD Nicely done!
Love the spider, and over all a good set :biggrin.gif:
Thanks!
The spider in particular got a lot of love due to being the only mob who's skin was tailor-made for him, rather than being based off a player skin.

The zombie in particular was inspired by silent hill.
I know what you mean about creepers, they're almost a mascot for the game.
Thank you for the positive feedback!

Oh, I like the Spider and Zombie. I'm already using some mob reskins, but I think I might be using some of those now.
You should try your hand at making some non-hostile mob horror textures, considering I can't seem to find any good non-hostile mob skins, except the Chicken-To-Duck and Black Sheep.

I didn't reskin the passive mobs because I wasn't sure how to make them scary and generally they interest me much less than the hostile mobs.
But now that I think about it I do have some ideas on how to reskin them.
And yeah, there isn't really any decent reskins of cows and pigs and such.
Here is just a test skin I put on the pig to see how it looked.
A little basic. At least the head/face should have some features, and maybe some shading. But the general idea is good. Only thing is maybe you should see if you can put any organs or something in it, considering they drop meat. Or maybe you could just turn pigs into walking piles of animated meat, using bones for legs or something. Just my 2 cents though, do what you want.
EDIT: Here, this is what I'm talking about. I whipped this up using someone's horror-themed Creeper skin (I can't be assed to go to page whatever to look for it again).
Hanging Pork
Reanimated meat with a hook in it. It uses knives stuck in it's torso as limbs to drag it's body around.

How am I supposed compete with this?
It's an atrocity!
My pig looks downright adorable compared to that!
He isn't anywhere near finished though.
Also, I wasn't making a skeleton originally, it was just a test to see how the pig skin wraps on the model.
Me likey but don't forget that sheep drop wool so be sure to include some of that in the skin. They need to be at least a bit furry/wooly.
The idea is that the wool will look like a blood soaked tampon, and when it is punched off it will reveal the sheep's macabre underlying form. The picture was supposed to illustrate that.
I will also make a terrain edit to make the wool blocks red.
The humble beginnings of sheep (just the skeleton so far.)
I'm trying to figure out how to best do the skull. Personally, I think the eyes ought to be on the sides.
Never mind, looks better with eyes at the front. Actually, I'm really not sure...
they'd probably fit in with some realistic texture packs like a charm (I do not wish to find said packs).
Very true! I would personally recommend SMP's Realistic.

Do you have plans for slimes, chickens, and cows?
Yes, I will do cows and chickens next, concept art will be up by today or tomorrow! I can't do slimes at the moment because I can't find any .
In other news my soundpack is finished (as much as it can be!) I will add a download and instructions in OP when I can.
If it helps, slimes grow skinnier and taller when they bounce and emit particles (and a squish noise) whenever they jump. The most generic approach would be a bundled up pile of meat with eyeballs popping out.

I know how they look, back when they were first implemented slimes appeared in ridiculous numbers in the lower cavities of my mines, but since the recent update that made them regional I can't find them anymore.
If someone could upload a save with easily observable slimes that isn't world 3 I could reskin them!
Some ideas on how to redo the slimes were making them into giant hopping eyeballsblocks and making them into a black bouncing box of pure death.
