Hi! I've been through the past few pages, but nothing seems to adequately describe my problem.
I've been using ML for a while; went to go update the launcher, Minecraft, and the mods - did all successfully. All my mods say 'ok' in the setup, and when I test it, it works fine.
When I go to actually login, however, it will not connect to the server. Under options, it says it's running Version 1.5.2.
I've re-downloaded everything - from MagicLauncher itself to the mods to Minecraft - the original launcher and the new update. I'm a little stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Alrighty, so I took screen caps and documented the details of my problem, for a bit more technical clarity. :C
My (few) Mods: (Note: I've always used just these 3, I simply updated them all to their most current versions.)
Hey guys, I've been having a problem getting this new version to work. I have all my mods added, and its all OK, and my environment is the forge one, but when I try to test I get this error message.
I believe this has something to do with Forge because it will work if I don't use the Forge environment and turn all the Forge-required mods off.
I noticed at the top is gives the location of the first active mod that it encounters from the bottom up. In the error report above it says too many items, but if I go and disable that, then it will just say Raiesminimap, then if I disable that it will say optifine. (Which doesn't even require forge) and so on.
I have this screenshot of my setup screen, in case that helps.
I'd say your firewall is preventing Magic Launcher or Java from connecting to the internet or you otherwise have some kind of internet connection issue at play there.

Looks to me like you're trying to load minecraftforge-universal-1.6.2-9.10.0.789.jar while you already had Forge installed into the Minecraft environment. In other words, you're doubling up on Forge. Remove the universal jar from the mods you're trying to load and it will probably work.
I'd say your firewall is preventing Magic Launcher or Java from connecting to the internet or you otherwise have some kind of internet connection issue at play there.
For me, I use Comodo Firewall and just right-click on the System Tray icon for Comodo and choose "Game Mode" before I play online, and that seems to work. Maybe there is something like that for his situation.

That was exactly it! I didn't even think about my firewall, since it hadn't changed since the new release. I use Comodo Firewall and Antivirus, and switching it from 'Normal' to 'Game Mode', and I can connect no problem! Which is strange, since I never had to switch to game mode before? Oh well! This solves my problems for now!
Thanks! Hope my problem helped the few of you who had the same issue? O:
Hey guys, quick question which is a bit in line with all the issues noted for the last few posts:
Is ModLoader a necessity? I had the sound issue, and I disabled it to get the sounds before I actually made it work again (by switching the resources packs).
But to be honest I installed it because I thought it was a necessity, only to realize all my mods work fine without it despite having the "nomodloader" warning in the setup.
Hence the question, is it a necessity?
Thanks

This doesn't really have anything to do with the magic launcher, this would be better posted on the mods in question's threads. But usually, if the mod doesn't NEED mod loader to work, there will be some functionality that needs modloader to work. It depends on the mod whether or not it NEEDS it.

Ok I see. You're right I poorly phrased my question: what I should have asked is if ModLoader has an effect - adverse or not - on ML itself, thus becoming something you would 'need'. But you answered my question in a sense so thanks!

Oh, well no, I don't believe that modloader has any effect on the magic launcher. I use mods on their own all the time, a lot of times I'll only use optifine with no problems. I don't see any effect that modloader would have on magic launcher, so don't use it if you don't need to. This is only in my experience though, and what seems to make sense to me.

Well having the forge jar there isn't going to help you anyways, so remove it while keeping the environment set as the one created by the Forge installer. It looks like you've manually added those mods into the upper section of the Magic Launcher window instead of just putting them into the .minecraft/mods folder and letting Magic Launcher find them on it's own, with the exception of Optifine which seems to need to be in the upper pane. I had no end of problems until I switched around to that method of adding mods. Now it works fine.
If that still doesn't work out, then try adding -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true to the parameters field on the advanced tab. That also helped me.
