Update Release:
Added: Option to Cull only Automatic backups during a cull.
This allows you to treat manual backups as 'golden' and have them never touched by the (manually initiated) automatic cull process.
Fixed: Fixed the cross section rendering bug.
Update Release:

I've updated the launcher to make it very powerfull indeed, but also to account for the new main game launcher changes. The new launcher includes MineCraft specific environment variables for fluctuating and commonly used values.
Updated:
How the health level was recorded was slightly altered in the game data, I've updated the health reset to account for it.
The summary for this update is short, the work behind it was quite alot (a few solid days coding).
Update Release:
Added:
The window autosizing is a usefull feature of MineBack, but, in some rare situations you might have some reason to wish a window to be sized to an unusual size (partly off screen). Also, I realise some people like to be in complete control of Window sizing. So for those users I have added this option.
NB: I have noticed that the cross section map view is not rendering correctly. I will address this in the upcoming update.

Update Release: 16th June 2012,
Applies to MineBack Ultimate and Professional:
Improved: UI Update / CPU usage balance slider,
Now you can choose if you would like MineBack's UI to provide more regular status updates (backup progress bar etc) or if you prefer MineBack to minimise CPU usage (or somewhere inbetween). I've set a sensible default, so people who don't care about such things don't need to.
Update Release: 16th June 2012,
Applies to MineBack Ultimate and Professional:
This update wraps up two updates together:
Added: Machine Migration Backup (Export All),
Right clicking the backup button gives the option to 'Export All' which will ZIP archive all your worlds and configuration into a ZIP file to be restored to another PC / Laptop (right click restore and use 'Import All' to do this).
Added: Backup All Worlds (regardless of requirement to backup)
Right clicking the backup button gives the option to 'Backup All' which simply creates a new backup for every world. This feature is helpfull to anyone who wishes to manually manage backing up from MineBack Ultimate / Professional.
Fixed: CPU usage now < 1%.
I was made aware of a CPU usage bug causing >1% CPU usage when idle. This has been resolved, meaning all versions of MineBack run under 1% CPU usage when idle (and frequently staying under at minor load)!
Update Release: 6th June 2012,
Applies to MineBack Ultimate and Professional:
Improved: Settings dialog now sizable and automatically adapts to available screen space.
Patch Release: 31st May 2012,
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate:
Fixed: Resolved error that occured when editing the second chunk on any map.
I missed a NULL condition =/. It got overlooked this long because I happened to only need map editing for the chunk the player was within. Found thanks to my brother for hunting for villages using MineBack Ultimate.
Update: 6th May 2012
Applies to MineBack Ultimate:
Added: New settings tab to allow adding of any arbitrary files or folders to be included in the backup / restore process!
This one should prove popular with modders. I've even added a specific checkbox to automatically add MineCraft.jar into to the backup process. The big advantage of this is that it ensures the backup is saved with the specific version of MineCraft running at the time the backup was made (ensuring backup may be always be played in future). This option is turned off by default to keep backup size down for non-modders.
Improved: Changed the settings screen, grouping related settings under appropriately named tabs.
Update: 30th April 2012
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate:
Fixed: Cull feature not functioning against Archive Backups.
The Cull feature has been updated to correctly recognise archive backups.
Improved: Launcher will now intelligently choose between launching via the MineCraft executable and via the Java runtime (as configuration changes are made).
Added: Automatically finds the install location of Java runtime environment.
Release: 23rd April 2012
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate:
Added: Automated Mob Clearing, removes all mob types from a designated area (anoying over-spawning slimes, slimes where great when they where a 'rare' mob).
Fixed: Removed backup failure message received for very small worlds.
Fixed: Augmentation process broken by new map chunk caching. Augmentation process now works again correctly.
Release: 6th April 2012
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate:
Improved: Faster Map Editing (new Chunk Caching).
Added: Extended details provided per block (hover over a block in the editor to see light levels, block id etc).
Release: 23rd March 2012

Improved: Player Location Restore now restores the direction being faced.
Added: Ability to create arbitrary new NBT tags
Added: NBT Search and Replace (example: change all spider mobs to villagers).
Added: Adding Inventory Items quickly to empty Inventory.
Patch Release: 17th March 2012,
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate:
Fixed: Application hang when rendering map if player was parked at a chunk corner.

Fixed: Quotes in launch string causing issues.
Latest Release: 13th March 2012
Applies to MineBack Ultimate:
Added map view improvements:
Surface view now includes transparencies
New Cross Section map view
Improvement Release: 8th March 2012
Applies to MineBack Ultimate and MineBack Professional:
Added an optional (see settings panel) verbose mode. In verbose mode MineBack will report on any minor issues it might encounter (previously MineBack just handled minor issues without comment. However, this proved confusing for some if a button was just disabled and a reason was not provided. For example, if the game client was incorrectly configured MineBack would disable the launch game button if if was not able to access the path the game client was located in. In verbose mode, it will let you know the reason it has disabled a button). This change will be most usefull to new user.
Latest Release: 6th March 2012,
Applies to MineBack Ultimate and MineBack Professional:
Full Anvil support (so thats version 1.2+, 1.2.3 latest tested against)
Improved backup process to (optionally at user discression) smartly eliminate pre-anvil backups.
Applies to MineBack Ultimate.
Anvil map editing. Access to new block height.
When Anvil was released it felt like it when it came to getting my head around the changes. Though it breifly knock me sensles I caught up and MineBack goes Anvil!
Patch Release: 17th Feburary 2012,
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate and Professional
Fixed: Manual Backup button accidently disabled for new worlds.
Improved: Archive Backup feature.
Patch Release: 14th Feburary 2012,
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate.
Backup right click context menu restored. Sorry this got overlooked in the last release.
New Release: 10th Feburary 2012,
Applies only to MineBack Ultimate and MineBack Professional.
Added: Archive Backups
Now you can choose to have your world backups automatically compressed into a single archive file (in ZIP format). Just remember to goto the settings page and enable the feature if this is something that you use.
Added: Restore without Existing world
Now you can restore from your world backups, even if you accidently deleted your main MineCraft world (assuming you made a backup previously).
New Release: 1st Feburary 2012,
Happy New Year! O.O sooOO many updates!!!
Applies to MineBack Ultimate only:
Added: World Map View Added: World Map Editing
The new map editor is just packed with editing features:
o Scalable Map view of Region (surface level).
o Teleport Player to any location (including underground. Explore those exciting looking caves without runining your landscape).
Block Painting tool to quickly place blocks (Per Chunk).
o Clicking on any area (Chunk) in the region surface map will load the relevent chunk into the block editor for manipulation.
Added: Teleport Anywhere (Nether Included)
Added: Quick Enviromental Controls (aka Weather Control, Time Control)
o Sunny Dawn - Sun rise on a perfect day
o Perfect Day - The sun is high in the sky.
o Stormy Night - Night has fallen and a storm is swirling
o Rainy Afternoon - Sun is just about to set and the rain (or snow) is falling
NOTE: Rain, Snow etc are subject to biome / cloud cover.
Added: many automated map augmentation features:
Since there are already powerfull in game map editing features, and well established third party editors (aka MCEdit) MineBack map editing focuses on eliminating repetitive tasks.
o Clear Area (Destructive)
Sets the entire blockable area to Air (removes bedrock)
o Clear Halves (Destructive)
Based on the Augmentation direction clears precisely half the chunk(s) selected.
o Shunt Chunk (Friendly)
Based on the Augmentation direction rotates/moves all blocks in the specified direction (per chunk)
o Mine Entire Area (Very Very Destructive)
BACKUP FIRST!! This augmentation places TNT randomly throughout the selected area and a single stone pressure plate which will trigger a chain reaction (surpisingly fun ^^).
o Make Walk Safe (Friendly)
This ensures their is a layer of bedrock at the very bottom of the map for the area selected.
o Burry Blocks (Use with Care)
This will quite litterally burry blocks of the brush types randomly throughout the area.
o Hollow Chunk(Destructive)
This turns all non-player visible areas of the map into air. Think eggshell.
o Surround Chunk(Destructive)
This outlines the entire chunk using the two selected block brushes (think of this as giving chunk edge guides). Think eggshell.
o Edge Chunk(Destructive)
This surrounds the entire chunk using the two selected block brushes
o Replace Block(Use with Care)
This replaces blocks of the first block brush type with blocks of the second block brush type over the entire area.
o Random Blocks (DANGEROUS)
This places random blocks across the entire chunk. This is not really that usefull, but you never know what you will get..
o Ordered Brush Drop (Friendly)
This will place the selected brush block at an ordered interval (defined by the spacing value) where there is space to put the brush (e.g. unobstructed, or replacing air).
o Quick Dry (Friendly)
Removes all water from the selected area.
o Remove Lava (Friendly)
Removes all lava from the selected area.
o Bright Light (Friendly)
Lights every block to its maximum light level
Improved: Improved Server Side Backup
Minor errors will not cause the automatic backup to wait for a user response.

New Release: 18th December 2011,
Merry Christmas! Have you bought your presents? I alreay have Mine *boom boom* xD.
To more serious matters, new releases of MineBack Ultimate and Professional Versions:
Added: New option to disable the automatic backup on restore (defaults to on).
MineBack Ultimate (New Features):
Added: Exciting new feature allowing partial restoration from other backups. In the current releases you can restore either your player location, or your entire inventory from any point in time backup. To use this feature, right click on a backup in MineBack Ultimate for the options to do this.
Added: General purpose NBT file editing!
Right click on any world and choose "Edit NBT Format File". Then browse to the file in question. This is handy, for example, for editing the "Scale" value on your maps.
New Release: 21st November 2011,
MineBack (Ultimate) has been updated adding the option to customise the backup completed sound.
Anyone experiencing issues with the NBT editor or hunger level reset feature should update.
Also, MineBack (Ultimate and Professional) have been throughly tested against v1.0.0.
New Release: 2nd October 2011,
MineBack (Ultimate) includes new "Hunger Reset" features.
MineBack (All Versions) have improved auto-backup semantecs. New Worlds are now automatically backed up as played as long as "Automatic Backup" is ticked.
Minor bug fixes (existing users please update).
New Release: 23rd September 2011, MineBack (free) now has two powerfull companions. MineBack (Professional) and MineBack (Ultimate).
Having put such alot of time into the reworking (where talking weeks of time here), I have had to make the new versions licenced and no longer free (though I will still keep the unmodified MineBack original as a freeware download). The new versions have been created using WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) and make MineBack really shine. Hoping the people who enjoy/appriciate MineBack and would like a smart Window 7/Areo enabled version to run might hop over and upgrade. Thanks everyone!

Updated: 19th July 2011, Added options to configure custom locations for Backups and MineCraft configuration data. Improved restore error handling to provide more user friendly feedback.
Updated: 11rd Jun 2011, Added options to set the Cull period (can now be set to whatever time period you want and will be saved with the application settings). Added optional "Backup Sonar" so you can hear MineBack working. MineBack now saves your "Auto Backup" setting so you don't even need to click the world and tick "Automatic Backup" everytime you launch. Like I say, fire and forgets the key.
Updated: 3rd Jun 2011, Added support for running application from a folder other than the same one as the MineCraft executable.
MineBack is a Windows .NET application which automatically manages backing up your minecraft World for Single Player Minecraft. Its Freeware, but if people like it I would appriciate any support dontation they wish to offer.
Features:
Smart Automatic Backup - Detects when the highlighted World has changed and makes an automatic backup every 5 minuets of play time (or user specified interval). Does not backup the world if the world is not being played (so if you exit the client and leave the backup running no more backups are created).
Safe Restore - When you restore your world to a previous state, an automatic recovery backup of the overwritten world is made for you.
Backup Descriptions - Backups are automatically described, and, optionaly you may add your own custom backup description.
Intuitive User Interface - Click the world, click Backup or check the automatic backup check box. Play MineCraft.
Archive Backup Cull - Click "cull" to automatically have all backups older than 1 month deleted. Rest asured if ALL backups are that old you will always be left with the latest backup.
I've been playing MineCraft for a while now and really enjoy the game. I know there are MineCraft backup solutions out there, but I wanted one which was fire and forget.
I trust this solution for my backup needs. I don't however offer any guarentees, except to say that I trust this software and rely on it for my backups.
This software is Freeware, but please do not re-distribute the binary image (if you want to share it, link to the web-page provided above). - Thanks ^^
* Regarding the issue noted where the world name is displayed incorrectly if unusual characters are used in the world name, its hard for me to address this issue ATM because my laptop has a fault with its GPU which prevents it running accelerated (so no MineCraft till I get a new one so fidly to try and test / reproduce). So I can't practically address the issue right now, unless someone wants to donate towards a new laptop .

Can everyone let me know what they think =). Also if you have any ideas you want to see added, please post them here.
Looking forward to hearing what your all thinking.
ed: Oh dear theres tumble weed blowing through this thread (ooh that would be a nice addition to MineCraft lol. I can almost hear 1 million picks mining.
Have to say, great job with this, saved my precious world several times now (My laptop is prone to crashing and corrupting my Minecraft worlds) nice work.
Yay =D. Thanks.
Glad its being enjoyed. Its usually Creepers it saves me from, think i'm fussy, don't want it on Peacefull, but don't want Creepers either. Also, one hillarious (only with a backup lol) death where I made a water jump "quick exit" and inexplicably the water failed randomly to stop my fall killing me. Its now a very deep pool hehe.
If anyone has got any suggestions for additions let me know =).

Seems nice...some advice, maybe change the look of the window or add a gui.
Thanks, I appriciate the feedback.
Though I'm not 100% sure I understand the meaning of your advice :sad.gif:.
Are you suggesting adding some skinning options to current UI (GUI)? Its a good idea. I'll look into it (maybe a creeper on the backup button if I can get permission hehe).

Yes that is basic idea.
Another thing, when I tried to run it(I gave my advice by looking at the screenshots on the post),my viris scanner said that it was a Network insight and then deleted the Application.Do you know what you do to fix that?

I don't know. None of the major Virus Scanners report it. I ran it through http://www.virustotal.com/ (which is an awesome free web-service) before I posted it (just to be absolutely sure it was virus free) :
As well as of course my local Virus Scanner. Theres no network related code in the application. I've also checked the referenced components and theres nothing in there.
Which anti-virus are you running? Try downloading another .NET application, like InvEdit and see if you get similar issues.
Hope this helps. =)
ps. I am going to be away for a week, but I'll try and check in on the posts here if I can. Thanks for taking the time to give me feedback =).

I use Norton.
I have used InvEdit, and other .net applications (BackMeUp)
Do you know how to make it let you use it?
EDIT:Can you re-Upload it?
ANOTHER EDIT:Is it possible to make a Jar version of the Program?I NEVER have problems with Norton with Jar files.
Its nice, simple and easy. Though it is not the main feature, it requires the executable, rather than the java. My computer dosen't work too well with executable and java.... Anyway you could add the java version ability?
I haven't tried many others, but this one works great for me! :smile.gif:
This is miles ahead of any other backup software I've seen on this forum; congratulations on a job (very) well done :biggrin.gif: Actually, seeing this program is what made me discontinue mine.
The one thing that would make it even better is a way of backing up SMP worlds (I run a *private* server).
Also:
The program does not display a 'World Name' correctly if it contains 'æøå'
I actually do not use the regular .minecraft folder. Is there any way to specify where the world files are ?
Hi, sorry for slow reply. Away travelling right now.
I will add an "offical" way to change that setting in the next release, but for now you can still change the path manually by editing the configuration file located in the following path (change items surrounded by < and > for your own details):
C:\<users folder eg. Documents and Settings or Users depending on OS>\<user name>\AppData\Local\KVK_Consultancy\MineBack.exe_Url_vlukuszi5yk2hzt5ujj4lvmj54pnhutx\4.2.0.2
Look for a file called "user.config" and open this file in notepad. Look in the file for the following lines:
Neat little Tool. But there are 2 things.
[list=1]
I get an error when i try to restore a backup. It tell me to solve the problem with the help of the .net configuration tool. But i don't have it.
[code]System.Security.SecurityException: Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x800A0046 (CTL_E_PERMISSIONDENIED)
Hi RiaG,
Thanks for the feedback :smile.gif:. Its all appriciated. This issue is caused if you try to restore a backup whilst MineCraft is still holding the world open (or some part of the world) the simplest fix is to just exit the game client then perform the restore.
I will be adding a condition for this into the next release =).
Mostly you only need to save and exit the world in the client (and don't normally need to exit the client all together). Though sometimes MineCraft seems to hold the world open after saving.

The program does not display a 'World Name' correctly if it contains 'æøå'.
How to change where to put the backups? I tried to change the well hidden config file, the program overwrites it.
I'll have to look into why its overwriting your manual changes to the config file (it really shouldn't be). I can't investigate immidiately but will look into it as soon as possible.
Thanks for the notice :smile.gif:..
I'll admit the world name reading was added quickly writing my own quick rolled NBT format reader. It could potentially be stumbled by a number of unusual conditions. I'll fix it up though.
ED: The NBT reader in MineBack Pro and Ultimate is pretty rock solid (pun intended). Should be no problem with any valid world names. Also, hehe, yeah I saw the splash line in the game "now supports 'æøå'" lol
I use Norton.

ANOTHER EDIT:Is it possible to make a Jar version of the Program?I NEVER have problems with Norton with Jar files.
I'm not entriely sure what would cause the issue you describe. Sorry :sad.gif:.
The only think I can think of is that it uses shell scripting services to perform the backup. Its possible that Norton is being overly cautious with any applications using shell services (they are powerfull and versitile).
I can only suggest adding the application to your "safe" executable list (if the MD5 is the same as the one I submitted to the online virus scanner service).

ED: I've released a new version =D. It is now possible to configure any launch command line you want to launch the client from MineBack.
Seems nice...some advice, maybe change the look of the window or add a gui.
I've finally got a bit of time to take another look at improving MineBack. The next version I plan to release will support skinning and will be a WPF based .NET application.
Will keep you all posted. Looking at a release before the middle of next week hopefully (unless a Creeper gets me :wink.gif: :biggrin.gif: )

Fixed: Manual Backup button accidently disabled for new worlds.

Added: World Map View
Added: World Map Editing

Features:
http://www.kvkconsul...k/MineBack.html

=D Thanks. Hope you like it.
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
Looking forward to hearing what your all thinking.
ed: Oh dear theres tumble weed blowing through this thread (ooh that would be a nice addition to MineCraft lol. I can almost hear 1 million picks mining.
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
Yay =D. Thanks.
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
Thanks, I appriciate the feedback.
Though I'm not 100% sure I understand the meaning of your advice :sad.gif:.
Are you suggesting adding some skinning options to current UI (GUI)? Its a good idea. I'll look into it (maybe a creeper on the backup button if I can get permission hehe).
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
Yes that is basic idea.
Another thing, when I tried to run it(I gave my advice by looking at the screenshots on the post),my viris scanner said that it was a Network insight and then deleted the Application.Do you know what you do to fix that?
I don't know. None of the major Virus Scanners report it. I ran it through http://www.virustotal.com/ (which is an awesome free web-service) before I posted it (just to be absolutely sure it was virus free) :
http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/report.html?id=71bd68727657ff1e7f89a1d4882981caacec817f4dbb221950fc93cb9d97e428-1308527978
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
I use Norton.
I have used InvEdit, and other .net applications (BackMeUp)
Do you know how to make it let you use it?
EDIT:Can you re-Upload it?
ANOTHER EDIT:Is it possible to make a Jar version of the Program?I NEVER have problems with Norton with Jar files.
I haven't tried many others, but this one works great for me! :smile.gif:
The one thing that would make it even better is a way of backing up SMP worlds (I run a *private* server).
Also:
Yeah no s**t.
<setting name="Mine_Craft_Save_Folder" serializeAs="String">
<value>C:\Users\Developer\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\Saves</value>
</setting>
Change the "value" node data to the correct path for your system. You might also wish to change:
<setting name="Mine_Craft_Data_Path" serializeAs="String">
<value>C:\Users\Developer\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft</value>
</setting>
I will try to get out a new version this week allowing for configuration of these details :smile.gif:.
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
Hi RiaG,
Thanks for the feedback :smile.gif:.
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
I'm not entriely sure what would cause the issue you describe. Sorry :sad.gif:.
The only think I can think of is that it uses shell scripting services to perform the backup. Its possible that Norton is being overly cautious with any applications using shell services (they are powerfull and versitile).
I can only suggest adding the application to your "safe" executable list (if the MD5 is the same as the one I submitted to the online virus scanner service).
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
I will look at adding that feature :smile.gif:. Given my schedule right now, I hope to maybe have had chance to add the new features for mid week.
ED: I've released a new version =D. It is now possible to configure any launch command line you want to launch the client from MineBack.
For example:
"C:\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar "C:\Users\User\Documents\MineCraft\MineCraft.jar"
Might suit prehaps.
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
I've finally got a bit of time to take another look at improving MineBack. The next version I plan to release will support skinning and will be a WPF based .NET application.
Will keep you all posted. Looking at a release before the middle of next week hopefully (unless a Creeper gets me :wink.gif: :biggrin.gif: )
