Do you have JRE or JDK? What version of JRE or JDK do you have?
I have 1.6.0_22, and I'm updating right now. I'll edit this post later if that's it. Thanks!
I would try downloading the UNIX version and running it from command line. This is a very odd bug, and might take a while to figure out. I will hopefully have a fix soon.
Can you make a version without using opengl render, some ppl build their Minecraft servers in their dedicated servers, I mean that Dedicated servers use a vga standar drivers, and they haven't a good graphics drivers(OpenGL) to use your tectunicus program.
I try the program in different dedicated servers and I have always the same problem.
Unfortunately that would require a large rewrite of most of the program. However, you could copy your server's world folder to another computer to do the render. You would not want to render on your dedicated server anyway because Minetographer uses a large amount of resources and would bring it to its knees...

I plan to add a software renderer (ie. non-opengl) to Tectonicus at some point, but it might be a little while.
To cover a few bases:
-just installed latest 32-bit and 64-bit JRE Update 23 (I use two browsers...).
-running mods: hd-texture and MrMMods Better Light
-Vista (64)
Thanks, any help is appreciated and I can't wait to give the generator a go!
EDIT: From the screen in the pic, I can also hit 'tab' and it does cycle through something, as the central text gets shifted around and garbled when doing so.
One question. Does this application take use of 6 CPU cores? Going to have a hard time rendering my maps if it doesn't. If it doesn't then that makes me sad because Cartograph doesn't either. :sad.gif:

Does this only work with SP maps? This is what I get whenever I try to use it on an SMP map.
Same issue here... get some lock ups here or there rendering a SP map but will try updating to an x64 JRE and see if that helps at all... really hope that SMP support is released as most of my gaming is done on a server on my LAN so me and the missus can play together...
**EDIT** Updated to latest JRE x64 and gotten worlds stabler rendering and performance on my SSP worlds but still no go on my SMP worlds... must just be an incompatibility with Tectonicus on SMP? Also dropped all mods just to be sure and still no go... hopefully there will be SMP support in the future otherwise this is golden :biggrin.gif:
I ran it for 8hrs straight last night no errors but still nothing. Is there a way to know if it's working? All I see is the green bar going from left to right.
It rendered once perfectly, now it always stops around the 7000th render tile. The bar stops moving, the buttons become unclickable and the application won't respond.
The same thing was happening to me. I opened up the task manager in Win7 and watched the javaw.exe process. It looked like it was taking two cores and still processing so I let it run for a while and eventually it dropped down to 1 core. After that happened, I killed the process and restarted Minetographer and had it re-render the same map with the same settings and it was able to take the tiles rendered while the interface was unresponsive and it gave me my map after a couple minutes!
It looks awesome! I hadn't seen an overhead of my world before and it is great! The nighttime renders, in particular are really cool if you've placed very many torches around the world!
jakester2, Any chance of having a future update automatically set a map's settings to be identical to the last rendering so that we don't have to worry about matching it up perfectly in order to re-use the previous renders?
Also along those lines, I changed my rendering to do a night time render from a different angle and I ended up with both renders on the same map. Is this a bug or a feature?
I think that all of the random artifacts in there are an issue with the way some of the areas were generated in the game, spanning several alpha versions. I actually think it's pretty cool and wish I could visit that area in game without it filling in the gaps...
EDIT: FYI...The bottom left render is daytime facing North East and the upper version is night facing north west.
Wow... Looks cool but my Multi-GB map is taking like 15 hours xD is this normal, or should I close it. Im on pc and the little green bar thing never has a solid fill, It just keeps moving like
Lol that probably isnt the best description. I'm mapping a level.dat file from my SMP server. ALSO i didnt specify a "location to dump file" cuz i didnt know what it was :tongue.gif:. I see your in seattle as well lol. Cant wait to get this crap rendered, but is there a problem cuz its taking like 15 hours D=

SAme here, exactly the same. In faact, the little green bar is the only thing moving

Are you trying to run it with a texture pack? Cuz if you are then u need to install the texture pack on ur computer.. I THINK not sure
So I just installed this program, and I selected myfirst world which is about 1.44 MB. I let it sit for 30 minutes, and when I came back, it was still at this:

DOUBLE EDIT: Wait, does the UNIX version work on 7? WTH. I guess I can try...
