yeah. i cheated myself flint and steel with INVedit, set a single tree on fire, and that burnt down half of a 32x32 map. personally im shocked that there was a line, basically diagonal down the map, where trees where spaced enough to keep it from spreading to the entire forest

For a second there i thought you bored me to death.
Part of my thinking behind this map was to see what it would be like to play with limited resources. I like the way it forces you to take a more primitive technological route.
Cool idea. I think it'd be better without the adminium wall though, so it's more like a real world where you just happen to start in a huge forest. Maybe add an option for snow covered grass.
Just got done generating, a server with limited resources in a forest where I can build a tree house sounds great!
I hope this is as amazing as all of your other generators are <3
If you keep an eye on www.mrairiin.com I should have a video up soon :smile.gif:
The admium wall is there so that I can calculate shadows correctly. If I just leave it open at the edge, there could potentially be things in the MC-generated map that cast shadows on the part I generated (or at least affected the lighting), so the shadows at the edge would be messed up. Having the wall avoids that problem.
One possible alternate solution would be to have either an open flat area at the edge (for this map). Or just open space (like for the Planetoids maps) so there wouldn't be any shadows anyway. I may get to that eventually, but right now my top two priorities in regard to these are speeding up the desert generator and making Golden Tunnels work for SMP.
I love your creativity. The peramiter options on the plantoid creator was amazing. The forest gen doesnt have enough options to tweak. Maybe some variables on more river, But as it is now it feels alot like a swamp land. Clay would be nice addition for swamp look.
The land is just a tad too flat. Not bad but it could use slightly higher hills say maybe 20 blocks highlike rolling so its gradual.
All ive done was explore. I havent dug underground to see whats there.
I'll check out your tunnel gen., that looks very interesting.
You seem to know what your doing. which is why I mention adding more variable options for us to input while generating these maps.
Becuase honestly I think this is the best one so far. Aside from the biome gen. which lags hard and can be very hard to play on.
hats off to a great job again.
Thanks.
I noticed a problem. The area thats encased in bedrock walls where the actualy map generation takes place. there is no ore of any kind in that space? I see ore outside of the confined walls. but that means you need to break the bedrock with hacks. or lucky to find a cave in the side of the bedrock.
This could make for an interesting server map just because of the way it forces resource limitation. The only resources avaialble are wood, dirt, and sand (well, and saplings). This is partially intentional, as fire tends to go crazy in these maps.
No stone?
if so, youve got to be kididng me, because i can understna lack of iron, but stone?
This generator is great to play around with. Maybe you could add some customization in the future? Anyway in its current state its a great thing to play around with on friends servers.
First order of business? Leave the forest, second find iron to make a minecart system to travel in and out, (2 boosters + 150 track sections + 2 minecarts) .
I think that you, and the creators of the Stargate and MultiVerse mods should get togetheter, so what will happen in games will be:
When player gets technologically advanced enough to build (or find) a Stargate, then he has to find other StarGates coordinates, and when he does, he lands on new chunks, always unique, based on your world generators, so we can either stay at home and mess with trees and crap,
OR
take a StarGate to a planet that has had multiple meteoroid strikes and has holes all over down to bedrock, or is an obsidian and lava hellhole, or is a diamond rich desert or is a water rich sphere or ... do you really want me to keep going? I'm pretty sure with your gen skills we could have some really whacky and unique places, especially by throwing in pre-fabs.
Theres a mod out there that you can have that limits your exploration to a set distance, so in other words, you can just go exploring, and it would also fit with this concept, so you have to stay within a zone and work in there ... just like the real SG1 members; you don't see them wondering all over planets.
I'm definitely going to play this, but I must say that the first thing I do will be to climb the bedrock border, get enough stone to make a furnace, then come back. I just don't think it would be very enjoyable if I can't even make torches. I'll probably nab a few flowers too.
Normally I don't critique awesome creations such as this, but since you asked... I would love to see a version with:
(very) rare stone outcroppings
occasional flower patches
occasional birch trees
optional snow/ice world, where all water sources are replaced by ice and everything else is covered in snow.

I make map generators
Using the single player commands mod you can save a chunk of this and copy it into anyother world :biggrin.gif:
This.

You know you wanna click it
Judging from the picture, It looks like a swamp with very large trees.
