Might as well use this post for some suggestions, it is time consuming having to go Library>App Support etc, if you're selecting a save file that is saved to the desktop for example. Why not have Save to world 1, 2,3 and so on, under the file menu?
Why would you have an extra level.dat like that? So you can have sets of items? How about inventory templates that can be loaded and saved instead?

And finally I would love to see an option that if enabled would make the given inventory automatically in use when starting Minecraft, basically every time you open that save in game, it will use that inventory you've chosen (without the need of opening invgrid every time). Just suggestions, not very practical.
I agree, not very practical. :biggrin.gif: Again though, what about having inventory templates?

Anyone tried compiling this on Linux yet?
The code on github won't compile on Linux right now. I finished a patch that I'll merge in after 0.3 is released. Which will probably be tonight. :smile.gif: Any distro requests? Otherwise, I'm figuring on Fedora and Ubuntu.
Great mod but it killed my level.dat file (something was corrupted) but I fixed it myself without losing the save! Can you add an option to sort the items by type and maybe a thumbnail column?
I'm encountering issues when placing doors in my inventory. When I place a wooden door in inventory and start up the game, it's not the normal wooden door icon, and placing that item only results in a half-door (which is actually kind of cool but not what I expected); breaking up the half-door gives you a regular wooden door. The game crashes if I try to view my inventory after adding an iron door to inventory; removing it again with InvGrid eliminates the problem. (I'm running the latest Alpha in OS X 10.5.8.)
[Edit]
I also have a feature request: I notice that you can highlight multiple inventory rows at once, but this doesn't seem to enable any extra functionality. May I suggest that making a change to one item among many highlighted rows causes all highlighted rows to be changed accordingly? This would be helpful for quickly filling up your inventory with one particular item you want to build with.
I JUST finished a huge project, died and edited my world 1 with a empty inventory, and the world was gone. In a rush i clicked the button new world, where usualy my save was.
Is there ANY way to get my old world 1 back or is it gone for ever?
It really depends on which version of InvGrid you were using and how much you messed with the file. If you are using InvGrid-0.3-rc2 or newer, you can just copy and paste level.dat.invgridbackup over level.dat in your save file. Either way, your world that has already been generated should still be there. Newer areas might look weird because of a new random seed though.
I strongly recommended grabbing the newest version, InvGrid 0.3, where the corruption has been fixed.
Roadmap as of Oct 15
Here is the current roadmap based on feedback and my personal bias as the project dictator. :smile.gif:
1. Add method for filtering items by name.
2. Add method for sorting items into categories.
3. Investigate door bug reported by Rofang.
4. Copy and paste items by selecting rows.
5. Build Ubuntu .deb releases.
6. Add inventory templates.
...
99. Add item thumbnail images to item list and table view.
I'll build new numbered releases after every few sets of changes.
0.4 is released! You can now search through items much more easily by typing in the line edit where the type combo use to be. See the top post for changelog.
Roadmap as of Oct 17
(DONE). Add method for filtering items by name.
2. Add method for sorting items into categories. (Waiting input on whether filtering in 0.4 is sufficient)
3. Investigate door bug reported by Rofang.
4. Copy and paste items by selecting rows.
5. Build Ubuntu .deb releases.
6. Add inventory templates.
7. Add item thumbnail images to item list and table view.
I like the new search bar and scrollable list. Classy stuff. Categories seem mostly unnecessary now, though I noticed that if I just wanted axes (rather than axes and pickaxes), I had to insert a space before "axe." So in theory, I can imagine a few cases in which category filtering might be useful (axes, for example, or maybe all block types at once), but I could easily survive without it.
Well this defintely looks like this is the first Mac one that may work for me but whenever I try to open my inventory, it crashes. Any suggestions?
*Edit*
Okay, it works when I open a chest up, I can see my inventory.
Here's the error that comes up. I still can't press I and get see my inventory without it though.
*Edit* Haha! It works! Thanks man! This is great. Your program is not hard to use at all. I can't thank you enough. This is the first one of these editing programs I've found that works.

Proudly wanting Classic Alpha to truly become Survival Alpha. Mobs killing blocks, ridiculously powerful beasts, and insanely unfair gameplay. Classic Alpha is boring. I want SURVIVAL alpha! Eh? Eh? ***** all you want.
Personally, i like this just the way it is. Its simple and easy to use, the interface is great, and its probably going to be one of my favorite minecraft apps now. THANK YOU.
I'm going to try and upload a InvGrid tutorial this upcoming weekend. So it'll get you some more popularity. ;-)
Great, thanks!

Where can you download 0.4?
You can download InvGrid 0.4 here. I always update the first post in this topic with the newest version.

I have just downloaded the latest version, compiled it under a 64-bit Arch Linux System, and can confirm it's working perfectly. I am humbled by your awesome, and sincerely thank you for giving us an inventory editor that runs natively on Linux.

Thanks, I'm happy to hear someone has started testing on Linux! Would you find it helpful to have a source tarball instead of having to pull the source tree down with git?

Awesome program! Love it. First Maclove I've found on this forum.
Some suggestions to make it even more awesome:
#1. Allow copying an item to a slot. Often you want to create several stacks of 64.
#2. Allow a fast way of getting a full stack(64) of an item. Currently you need to manually input 64 in the textbox.
#3. When editing a world, have the program make a copy of the world first and then edit the original file. If everything ****s up you can then "restore"
Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for the feedback! Copying items is on my roadmap so expect it soon. I can add a button that sets stacks to 64 easily enough, consider it on the roadmap. Full world backups is a good idea but I can't commit to that feature right now. I'll have to come back and think about it after a few versions.
The Ubuntu .deb is practically ready to go. I just need to create a .desktop file so there is an Applications menu entry.
Thanks for all of the positive feedback and support everyone! It has helped turn this weekend project into an every weekend project. :biggrin.gif:

Make sure you are using the newest version of InvGrid. Some versions before 0.3 were known to cause this problem.
I'm sorry but InvGrid is currently OS X only. Linux support is planned but Windows is not at the moment.
there are like 5 apps that run nativley on windows for inventory editing.
all you gotta do is click that picture
