I was having much the same issues. Mc_Etlam has posted a "debug" build at https://github.com/mrkite/minutor/wiki/Nighlty-Builds that addresses some of those issues, and seemed to fix my problems. This is not the official release, but well worth a try. Mc_Etlam would probably appreciate it if you post your results here.
Since I see now 2 links on the Nightly-Builds page (and since for me the 'previous' nightly build was work without much problems (only when I zoomed out to max zoom Minutor sometimes crashes)), can you put a date-tag to the links (or in the links) so we can see which is the latest?
Currently I can't see if the debug-build or the inofficial-build is the latest.
Thanx in advance (for keeping this cool tool updated).
Been running into this problem as well. I was able to open an older map from another version of Minecraft, but when I updated that map - the same thing is now happening. Minutor just crashes when trying to load a map from 1.15.1 Java Minecraft
A request for minutor - caving mode: Can caves that are lit up be given a different color?
Rational: I like to see where I have been and which caves I still need to visit.
(Of course dungeons which torches will also be lit up, but that is not a problem for me)
/*edit*/ this is especially usefull when combined with night mode and mob spawning (the 2 modes I most use to see what is lit up and what not).
Now I have to toggle between day and night mode to interpret if I have visited a cave or not, but it remains guesswork.
Is there an easy way to change over from default minecraft to modded minecraft biomes / items?
(I know that in the past there was some Direwolf20 support, but I don't know if that is still ongoing)

I don't know about the latest versions (I use Minutor 2.0.1, dated 10/30/2013) but you can provide definitions files to add new blocks and biomes, even overriding vanilla IDs (in this case I've found that you need to make sure your custom definitions file is first):
Note that in vanilla (1.8-1.12) block ID 168 is prismarine and the valid data values are 0-2; there actually isn't such a block in the default definitions since they only cover up to 1.7. Mushroom Forest is a new biome I added, using biome ID 104, which doesn't exist in any vanilla version:
This is an example where I added new variants to an existing block; amethyst ore uses the same block ID as obsidian (49). The ores seen in the sandstone to the north are also variants of existing blocks, except I didn't alter the definitions so they all appear as the default block (in-game they appear as sandstone instead of stone). Meadow is also another biome I added, with ID 81, also not used by vanilla (many of my biomes do use the same IDs as 1.7+ though, I added them starting from ID 23, the first unused ID in 1.6.4):
The main issue is obtaining pre-made files as otherwise you'll have to make your own (I modified the default definitions, which can be found here, these are different from the ones I downloaded years ago though (my version of Minutor doesn't have any "spawnable blocks" or other options that I've seen mentioned recently); of course, my definition files use numerical IDs as the version of Minutor that I use was written for older versions, not sure where to get them now).
Does this work with Minecraft bedrock?
No Bedrock support. Minutor is developed for the Java version of Minecraft.
@Mc_Etlam, thanx for the update of the nightly builds.
What is the exact difference with the previous build (which was still working for me)?
Edit: for interested people: The unofficial(!) nightly builds done by Mc_Etlam can be found here
Major change is 1.15 support:
New features:
Zoom out does not differ for me. So that does not seem to work (so also not crash the program ;-) )
For some reason when ever I upload this world map the program crashes instantly Im not sure why
Same here, every time I try to load a world (I'm on 1.15) it crashes it, and on the minecraft wikia it says that minutor supports 1.15

Same thing for me, the program just crashes when trying to load a map.
Minecraft 1.16.1 apparently changed the data again. So minutor crashes when it tries to load a map.MrKiteEtlamGit already made a nightly build which fixes the issue. See Nightly-BuildsThanx
MrKiteEtlamGit/* edit */ oops wrong name

I just started with FTB (FTB Academy).

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I'm trying to use it on windows 10, but when i choose what map to use i just get a grey screen.
