Now this is hype!!!I suggest to give the radiating steel an blindness effect when hit by an enemy (when he hits you he gets blinded by the radiating light from the radiating steel). Also is Kalendrite going to be renamed or is it a mistake in the chart?
And Stone Crusher=30 seconds per ore? Because M4 was comparatively unbalanced due to the immediate ability to duplicate 8 ore per minute.
Tiered machines will not be returning in the old way, instead there will be a Stone variant of some machines that are necessary, an advanced metal version, then a 3x3x3 multiblock version. Multiblock is fastest but least efficient.
Since the old Crusher is going away, the first "Crusher" is available at the metal machine tier and requires a bit to get. It will have a decent time/fuel constraint to double (and possibly even a "cost".)

I have another suggestion for radiant steel armour.Maybe having a full set of armour gives you a chance at enemies dropping gold(nuggets or ingots) as well as changing apples in your inventory into golden apples and ingots into gold ingots.Or maybe make it an end ore since transmutation is the key word for end ores as well as midasium.Honestly it will be a sought after resource even if it doesn't have an super advanced steel form because you can get lots of gold with it (usefull for most mods since most people play mods in a pack rather than with just one mod).
Midasium's line is up in the air at the moment. I'm considering shifting its effect to the new Spectral debuff, so that enemies will have lines around them and you can see them through walls once they've been hit, and the armor would likely have a "lucky" effect, where you'd have a chance to just avoid damage entirely based on number of pieces.
End Metals still hasn't begun most of the planning stages, so there's a ton of room for cool stuff with the Transmutation thing.

I like how the tools look more advanced the better they are. Like a stone sword is just a rock tied to 2 sticks, then it goes to copper which is a shortsword, then bronze, lead, and iron swords get guards, and the ones after that have spikes and stuff, and finally the steel swords get huge epic looking blades.

I think those are just more of those helmets without eyeholes.
They are in fact shields, I just really felt like being a butt this morning.
Since M5 is for 1.9 we're looking at getting shields in for each metal. They likely won't have the banner system but I figure that's forgiveable.

Rename, was a former homage to someone. It'll likely get a similar sounding name to avoid too much jarring confusion.

I remember in the early days of Metallurgy there were plans to add gems of some sort. Are those coming back?

The pipeline past the core stuff has a lot of various sets possible. Gems are one of those potential sets.

I'd like to put in my appreciation for a 1.9 version. I use Metallurgy in several of my mod packs. Looking forward to this. Thanks.

Base Metals basically finished, just a few more sprites to do and some tweaks and color passes.
