This mod will create a self-building dungeon filled with new enemies, traps, and (as of this build) 51 new enchantments to challenge and reward players who have already defeated Minecraft's bosses.
Enchantment Fridays Update! (10/11/2013)
As a test of creativity and deadline-meetingness, I'm going to update with new enchantments every Friday, on the Friday! This week's new enchantments:
Dog Whisperer: Some things are too dangerous to do without a companion at your side, ever willing to fall off cliffs and into lava for you. Convert nearby wolves to pets by proximity.
Empathy: Caring is sharing. Chance to gain potion buffs used by attacking enemy when struck.
Gold Digger: Delve deep. Delve greedily. Digging sometimes drops a gold nugget.
Librarian: You can always tell a Milford man. Left-click with a book to cast Silence on everyone but yourself. While Silence is in effect, no other potion effect will work on victim.
Roadrunner: Meep meep! Gain a speed boost while on gravel.
Sweet Dreams: "...all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads." If you have the inventory space, gain sugar, cake, or pie every time you sleep.
The Dungeon
The Dungeon Heart is where the reward lies. Simply right click for it. Future versions of the mod will make the reward dependent on whether the player or players have beaten on one or more of the connected dungeon rooms, with higher quality rewards given to players who have conquered more of the dungeon.
The Enemy
What the drone lacks in power, it makes up for in numbers. Skittish but unyielding, drones will work in teams, buffing and healing one another until the fight reaches its inevitable fatal conclusion.
The Reward
Bigger swords and shinier armor is going to get you only so far and besides, the ones you downloaded from that other mod look pretty sweet. Augment that top-tier gear with powerful new enchantments! (Currently, enchantments can be accessed through the anvil or enchanted books)
Acme: Solve your problems in the time-honored tradition of the Southwest by dropping an anvil on them.
Ambush: Get the drop on your attacker when you teleport behind them ready to make that critical hit.
Barrage: The upside to firing 7 arrows at once is not how quickly you'll eat through your arrow reserves. Unless you needed that inventory space.
Brood Mother: Because arachnids historically never try to kill their relatives, there is no reason this enchantment is not a good idea. Chance to spawn spider targeting your aggressor.
Bulwark: Briefly become immune to everything but the rapier wit of your enemies.
Butterfingers: Reach through the internet and mash the 'Q' key on your foe's keyboard.
Charon: At less than 10% health, heal 1 heart for every 10 emeralds in your inventory (uses emeralds).
Chupacabra: Kill a sheep, gain some health. Become a legend.
Cold Feet: It's always winter and never Christmas for you, except I guess during Christmas. Freeze water and leave snow wherever you go.
Counterfeiter: Like the philosopher's stone, it only works on the gullible. Unlike the philosopher's stone, it actually works. Chance to convert paper in inventory to emeralds.
EndBound: What better way to end a fight than banishment to the realm of the Ender Dragon? If your opponent's health is below 10% they get a chance at the one-way ticket. If yours is above 90%, the fabulous vacation could be yours!
Escape: If you've ever thought, at 10% health, that anywhere is better than here, now's your chance to find out! Not guaranteed to work.
Fireball: Sometimes shoot an arrow, sometimes shoot a fireball. It's my least consistent trick.
Firebomb: If you've been practicing your battle shrieks, no one will know it wasn't ghasts that razed the testificates' village.
Food For Thought: Gain a random, short-term enchantment when you eat. Not necessarily a good one.
Gambler: Take reduced damage if you have more emeralds than your opponent and more damage if you have less.
Gourmand: Few can appreciate the subtle flavoring of rotten or raw meats and fewer can stay healthy while doing so. Never get sick from foods.
Gravedigger: For Poe aficionados on the go! This enchantment digs a hole and buries your enemies in it, letting you whisper, "For the love of God, Montressor" before moving on to your next important task. (inspired by Kathal_AngelBane)
HellBound: Sure it's a deal with the devil, but when has that ever backfired on anyone? If your opponent's health is below 10% they get a chance at the one-way ticket. If yours is above 90%, the fabulous vacation could be yours!
HomeBound: Take your toys and go home. Spoilsport.
HotFoot: What's the matter, Scarecrow? Afraid of a little hideous pain?
Indecent Exposure: Remember the Celts of old? The ones who fought naked? Fight like the armored guys who killed them.
King of the Jungle: Rule the jungle like a less-naked Tarzan. Unless that's your thing. Automatic night vision and jump boost while in a jungle biome.
Light Traveller: Just because you have that many pockets doesn't mean you should fill them. Gain a speed boost proportional to how much free space is in your inventory.
Man Eater: Being the last survivor of the total Minecraftia zombie apocalypse doesn't mean you have to give up the little things that make you happy, like cannibalism. Gain a damage boost after eating rotten flesh (does not prevent food poisoning).
Memento Mori: At less than 10% health, gain Swiftness and one additional random potion effect if you have a skull in your inventory.
Overgrowth: Weed out your enemies. Gain invisibility while in tall grass.
Paper Tiger: Leave a paper trail of paper cuts in your paper wake. Damage is boosted, but swing speed is slowed while enchantment is in effect. Consumes paper upon activation.
Pincushion: Free arrows when someone shoots you full of arrows! Recycling at its finest.
Quicksand: Life's a beach. Gain a speed boost while standing on sand.
Ravenous: Eat or be eaten. Enchanted weapon gives you Hunger III while equipped, but increasing Strength and Speed bonuses as your hunger level increases.
ReDead: Slow your enemies in their tracks no matter whether they are creepers, zombies, or a four-foot-nothing Hyrulian hero. *Scream not yet included. (inspired by DeskPop)
Repair: Sometimes, when you get hurt, the little bar on your armor gets bigger instead of smaller.
Rust: Sometimes the little bar on their armor gets much smaller.
Scapegoat: At 10% or less health, there's a chance you'll switch places with the nearest sheep and absorb some of their health. Never trust a sheep farmer again.
Skullduggery: Remain invisible so long as you're holding a skull.
Skyfall: What teleports up, must come down.
Snow Blind: Fight your duels at midnight in snowy forests like a true ninja. Also, cheat like a true ninja by blinding your opponents to gain the advantage! Only effective in snowy biomes.
Solipsism: Definitive proof that all of Minecraftia is a figment of your imagination. Except for gravity, that is. Still trying to kill you, that one.
Tie Dye: Own your very own Technicolor Dreamcoat! Changes armor color. Leather armor only.
Traveller: Jump up in one dimension and land in another. Just don't expect to come back. Seriously. This one's a little buggy.
Vegetarian: Tell everyone you don't eat animal products because you hold yourself to a higher standard of ethics, and not because of the regeneration you gain from doing so. Or that those foods give you Nausea.
Wither Skull: Shooting exploding death skulls from your bow is way more fun than remembering to not hit your friends or their houses.
Zephyr: Be like a leaf on the wind in that you fall at half speed, take no damage from landing, and are extremely vulnerable to makeshift spears/anchoring devices.
Customizable Structures! Need Your Help!
The drones have been trained, they just need more stuff to build. Boss rooms, hallways, trap rooms, jumping puzzles, anything you can think of! Just add a .txt blueprint of your designs to thisguyisjoe/auxon/Resources in the same folder you installed the mod in. More detailed instructions are available in each of the pre-existing blueprints found there. PM if you need help!
To Do List
*Add ability for Dungeon Heart (as final, boss room) to order construction of connected rooms to create a proper dungeon.
*Add user-submitted rooms (hopefully there will be some!) to official blueprints.
*Create proper reward system, based on number of rooms which have been defeated.
*Add room rotation.
*Add defenders.
*Add boss(es).
*Add many more enchantments.

WARNING: this is a WIP mod and is NOT suitable for use with previously saved games. Auxon Swarm (v.0.4) for Forge 1.5.2
Are the drone's hostile themselves, or do they make mob spawner's for other mob's such as Zombie's or Creepers? I find it could be close to impossible if they manage to swarm you.
@TheJackofBladesEye: The drones are...mildly hostile. With swarms of the size of those in the trailer, I'd expect around 2 or 3 to become interested in you for the first 10 seconds of being in their territory, with it increasing from there. If you were to fight back in the presence of the others, that'd draw even more attention, but even so their rate of attack is comparable to the skeleton's and they need to get pretty close to pull it off.
PS. You'll need to be in creative mode to place the Auxon Heart block. And the new enchantments are accessible through books and the enchantment table.
Hey, guys. Quote me if you want me to respond. Otherwise I'll have no idea what the hell you want with me.
Friend Code: 1263-6258-8121 (Poison)
Friend Safaris: Poison: Swalot, Whirlipede, Seviper.
@tolerantUsurper: That's not unlike the direction I'm planning for the mod. The Auxon Heart will eventually spawn a series of connected rooms and pathways which each house their own, lesser heart-like block. To obtain the loot (which for now is also obtainable through generic enchanting), you'll have to run the gauntlet and destroy the lesser hearts in the order you find them from the dungeon entrance. The more you take out, the better your end reward will be.
@DismalAmoeba: I've just looked around and...that's kind of scary. I didn't even plan for this many, it's just what I arrived at after a few days of coding.
Wow, excellent work! I love seeing mods adding a very oblique system like this, something I would like to see more often! Couple questions though. Are you planning on adding different types of Swarm mobs, ie soldier or leadership castes? Also for the flavor of different servers' would you be able to make the different enchantments toggleable in the config? That said this is really something else, I am excited to see this pan out!
@LIL_SPRD: That's actually two separate enchantments being shown in the video, though admittedly not well. Acme drops anvils on targets and Hotfoot lights a fire under them. I suspect the zombie in the golden armor also had some variation of Hotfoot on his armor, with the result you saw in the video: no two people are not on fire.
@DeskPop: Yes, I am planning on about 5 more mobs which focus exclusively on combat. As to the config, I hadn't thought of making the enchantments toggleable, but I like the idea. Let the server owner balance things as they see fit.

Thats great to hear! I had pictured for my own servers' lore that the Auxon were very similar to the Formians of 3rd edition. A somewhat extra-planar axiomatic species that will homestead an area or dimension and begin to create their ordered hive, or dungeon in this case. As far as the config idea, glad to help! It is always nice to get that extra degree of customization while running a server.
@DismalAmoeba: I don't believe the mod takes up any dimensions, and as for Enchantment IDs I'm looking into modifying the size of Minecraft's enchantment list with reflection, which would solve ID conflicts by just having my stuff always come after everyone else's. I've gotten it to work for potions, but apparently using the same style of reflection on an abstract class like the enchantment one doesn't net the same results.
Would you mind clarifying your comment on Acme? Is that the only set of enchantments working for you, the only set working with Enchanting Plus, or the only set not conflicting with one of the other 23 enchantments mods?
Also, thought I'd fixed the bug causing that type of crash. Drat.
@DeskPop: That seems about how I've envisioned them as well, though I haven't fully decided whether the Heart itself is craftable with some rare materials from the end, or whether some other event brings them into the world. If you want to get a head start on customizing your server's variant of the Auxon, the drones can read and construct buildings from blueprints you can make in Notepad. Two things to consider if you go that route: drones can and will build one another into walls and floors thicker than two blocks across, and though the Heart will spawn a larger number of drones to work on larger structures, bigger buildings take a longer amount of time to finish.
It's the only set working with Enchanting Plus. All of your enchantments conflict with More Enchantments.

It seems to me that personally building the Dungeon Heart would be a touch out of place. Server ops and creative mode players should still be able to place these for their specific reasons, however it would not really fit thematically if you (the survival/normal server player) could craft and put them in the world. I think you were on the money with having some event bringing them about. You could do it as a random percentage check for certain vanilla actions ie; building/destroying nether portals, using ender pearls etc. Probably the most interesting would be some kind of interplanar event like a portal or rift opening up like tolerantUsurper suggested earlier. A pretty cool demonstration of this idea in Minecraft form is the really cool Hostile Worlds mod by Coros.
So, i wanted to know what they did.
So i left for a while and let them do their thing.

Stop treating mod devs poorly. These people mod as a hobby or as a service to the community, they don't have to take your suggestion and you are not entitled to anything from them.
@DeskPop: Event it is, then! I'm rather fond of the meteor Coros uses, too. Will have to think of what I'd like to do to make their arrival interesting.
@Mr_boness: So this wasn't an immediate crash but rather happened when you left the area, letting the chunk unload maybe, and came back? From the report I can guess that a drone tried to get information about a blueprint when the heart didn't yet have one. Would love to be able to recreate your crash.
@DismalAmoeba: Ditto your crash. I'll also relocate the IDs for now to prevent that conflict.
@DeskPop: Event it is, then! I'm rather fond of the meteor Coros uses, too. Will have to think of what I'd like to do to make their arrival interesting.
Or, use a similar vein to the Falling Meteors mod. Hell, I could see an excellent teamup between you two. Then again, that rarely happens. It'd be really damn cool though. So, they convert surrounding blocks into the white material they use to build?
But yeah, I'd have to be able to edit the enchantment IDs to play this mod, as I've already got 2 other mods that add enchantments.

The way the drones build everything out, and how the entire thing can grow sounds amazing.
If you're planning on doing different dungeons like this, I'm buzzing with suggestions right now:
-A "Dungeon Keeper" based dungeon, with imps and the like. To obtain loot, you need to destroy the 2x2 dungeon heart.
-An overworld infestation. Essentially a tile block that grows over everything, and has mobs, blocks and loot that follow its' growth and build.
-Invasions. Enemies that spawn in the overworld, establish bases/dungeons/footholds, and warp the terrain around them, like this:
Anyways, going to go check if this works with Superior Enchanting

Stop treating mod devs poorly. These people mod as a hobby or as a service to the community, they don't have to take your suggestion and you are not entitled to anything from them.
Back in these for'ms here, and mods have been updated, mods have been created, and mods have died. The circle of life continues.
