Good Night's Sleep Beta 2.3.2 for 1.6.2

Hey everyone.

Happy Halloween!

I am not dead, I swear.

Sorry for just abandoning this mod ages ago. After the 1.7 and 1.8 Minecraft Forge updates, there were some major changes that made this mod beyond repair. I also stopped playing Minecraft for a while.

But... Thanks to some of my friends who happened to be playing Minecraft the other day, I decided to revisit this mod and see if I can "resurrect" it.

So... over the past two weeks, because I am slightly insane, I basically re-coded the mod from the ground up to work with MC Forge 1.10.2 (there were over 1700 compiler errors to start out with). I haven't even added textures and item names yet, and even worse, I don't have the latest version of my source code to work with, so some content from the nightmare is missing at the moment.

Getting this mod back to where it was will take a very long time, but I just wanted to give anyone that still follows this forum a heads-up.

I just need to stay motivated - we will see how far I get.

The Good Night's Sleep mod adds two new dimensions, the good dream and the nightmare. Each dream land is accessed through sleeping in its corresponding bed, rather than stepping through a portal.

As of now the good dream is far more developed than the nightmare. Therefore, I have made a recipes .png that displays all the good dream recipes. I only included the good dream recipes because:

- I am not as far with programming the nightmare

- the recipes for the nightmare are almost exactly parallel to the good dream

- I was running out of time, since I would have to leave the next week

Eventually, the mod will be complete with a variety of ores/materials, mobs, dungeons, bosses, and maybe even custom sound effects.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. After all, this mod is only in its beta stage.

This also means there are some bugs to be found. Finding them and sharing them is also a great help for me and the mod.

Thanks for the replies! I'm thinking of uploading the good dream once i fix the main bugs and add crafting recipes so that you can give feedback on bugs, textures, etc.

I'm still working on the rainbow. I made a pot of gold that projects rainbow blocks when placed, but haven't finished working on it.

As of now, the extra-comfy bed is called a luxurious bed and is blue with gold corners. I can't seem to make it so it teleports you when clicking it, but can make it so that it teleports you when you walk on it.

Also... I'm using MC Forge to make it.

Any more useful information? I mean, we get the idea, but have you planned out what you are putting in the mod in a nice, organized place? Right now it seems just like a "Im workin on this so ya" post.

I fianally finished fixing the rainbow bugs! the rainbow is about 20 blocks high and 40 wide and is destroyed when an adjacent block is updated. The rainbow is automatically created when a pot of gold is placed (i may add rainbows as a generateable structure). Rainbows always point south. Lastly... the rainbow is rectangular (because this is minecraft and round things don't exist). I will now start making ores, items, armors, and generations for the good dream. Right now, im good with textures, but I might want some in the future. Hopefully, ill upload a prerelease next month !

Not a bad idea! The banna would be a rather useful weapon, but I might not want one in this mod. Maybe ill make a banna mod though :)! Also, Im hoping to publish a prerelease for Good Night's Sleep sometime in october.

Actually, if somnia is forge-compatable, it should work :)! You are teleported to the dream dimension upon walking on the luxurious bed, not clicking it. Also, the luxurious bed is its own bock. However, making it so that the real world continues to function while in the dream (like while resting in a bed in somnia) is beyond my capabilities.

That was what i was thinking of, actually. I really like the idea of never reaching something (possibly the exit)

Also, im starting to make candy stuff (plants and/or ore) and maybe glowing mushrooms !

I'm also thinking of posting some pictures of the good dream so far on my planet minecraft page, maybe even a video.

Any ideas for trees in the good dream? (there could be a good dream forest biome)

Caramel apples and jelly beans! That is genius!

I think a gummy bear (that's what they are ) would make a great mob! Maybe unicorns too?

A gumdrop plant/bush would also be nice (like the berry gummies ^^^^^^).

Nightmares could repeat themselves each time, and could be simillar to Slender. Maybe your vision would slowly fade away, and at the end you are essentially blind. It could also be a forest, tall trees, dark sky, etc.

Actually, the sky was pink at first, then i changed it, i guess i could change it back if everyone wants it like that:).
I do like the idea of adding a rain texture! I'm just not sure how to do that.
I wonder if there is a way to allow flight in the dream, double jumping sounds good too but will probably be very difficult to program.

Wow, thanks for the Ideas! I just finished making candy, candy ore, lollipops, lollipop plants, rainbow ore, and rainbow ingots. I am starting to make these trees:
- a money tree (emeralds)
- a caramel apple tree
Other generations to come:
- giant mushrooms
- sponges
- possibly candy bushes

Also... here's a cool pic i made from the textures because I couldn't get screenshots .

Progress:
I took a break from programming trees and spent a whole day fixing bugs that occur when teleporting between the good dream and real world. I'd love to share my briliant work, but there's really no way so see it untill you are to play the prerelease. So.. I'll try my best to get the rest of the stuff done soon . I'm so glad I got the tedious and difficult part out of the way.

If you want to download my mod so bad that you can't wait...
