is it gonna be better then tekkit i hope it doesnt mess up like tekkit cus for me after like 20 or 30 minutes of playing i freeze and have to reboot
FTB is definitely better than the pack you mentioned, because it has actual permissions from the mod authors. The pack is still quite buggy and you might get a crash every once in a while, but it's usually nothing serious.

Do love this pack and idea behind it. Just out of personal preference I've disabled PortalGun and Factorization. First is just for toys really (to my mind), and doesn't fit the feel of the rest of the mods. Factorization doesn't to my mind add anything that the other mods don't already do. I can understand the benefits of having alternates, but not both at once.
I may try swapping Advanced Solars for Compact Solars, not too keen on the recipes that AS uses, although perfectly understandable for a multiplayer point of view.
Debating about the changes GregsTech adds to IC. None of the new machines take my interest (being more advanced "toys") but I like some of the extra settings.
StevesCart mod looks really interesting, and could be fun to play with.
Can't wait for the missing mods to be updated and included, then it's ready to rock and roll!
Saying "both alternatives" implies that there are only two mods that perform those functions . . .

I'm recently having an issue trying to launch my FTBBETAA after downloading both the 1.4.4 update and getting a new FTB launcher update.
I would try to launch the game on the FTBBETAA pack, but it then stops working after the console reads "[INFO] From Console: 2012-11-15 19:51:42 [INFO] [STDERR] ... 12 more"
The strange thing is that the FTBRETRO pack actually works fine.
I love this modpack (or I should say WILL love it) the mods I have added are Mo creatures Balkons weapons and optifine. I tried adding tropicraft and lets just say it tropicrashed. But you guys said you didn't put Balkons weapon mod in here because you didn't get permission but he said you never asked him D:
Why are some of the craft recipes are different, please fix this? Do not like the way recipes are craft
Is xycraft getting add to the FTB Mods Pack?
Which recipes are different? If it's the macerator, Gregtech is causing this. If it's the solar panels, Advanced Solars is causing it. Simply disable the mods using the "edit mod pack" button.

Xycraft will be added when it is complete.
Or if you'd rather keep those mods, you can disable the changed recipes in their configs.
What mod is adding the Hyrbid Solar Panels and changing the recipe of the IC solar panel? As far as I can tell, the IC solar panel should be using coal dust, but the recipe is different with new components instead. Plus, no sign of Solar Arrays.
Also, anyone else having trouble registering on the FTB forums? I've made an account, but not getting the verification email so I can post there.

Why are some of IC2 recipe are use steel ingot for place for refined iron ?
That's most likely due to GregTech, it changes some of the IC2 stuff to be more expensive. You can change them back by editing the GredTech config file, or disable the mod.

Well, my world turned out better than expected. They say silver veins are rare, but I go mining for the first time down into a nearby cliff face, and I find one just making a staircase down . . . then another separate one immediately to the right. Surrounded by other ores O_0 I've never seen that much silver on my first minecraft week in the entirety of my RP2 experience. Guess Factorization actually needs that much. Too bad it was a test world (explains some of the stuff on my hotbar in this picture below). I could always gen the seed again, at least.
Then there was also this funny tree I found in above a swarm of sheep:
just thort me shoud say this about this greg tec thing if u play on a server and your clients nei has the greg tec recipes disabled
and the server IS using the gregtec recipes your nei will give u the wrong recipe ...just thort me tell ppl befor some 1 post it
Actually, what the client will do at that point is just plain crash out of those recipes . . .

What's stopping you from playing it RIGHT NOW? It has some truly amazing mods in it; Surely you can have a LOT of fun with the modpack as it is. I am having ENORMOUS fun with the modpack - so go play it in it's current state! And have some patience - the rest of the mods will be ready, WHEN THEY'RE READY.
There's only one mod holding me back and that's RedPower. I don't want to have to generate another new world to get the RedPower terrain/ore features.
