Hey all, welcome to my first mod. The main purpose is to add a variety of tameable dragons to the game, but I'll be puttering through additional features as time goes on. =3 As with most modders in the forums, this is purely a hobby and it may take time to add new features and respond to suggestions, so please bear with me as I learn and muddle in my free time. XD
Requirements:
* Modloader, installed and ready to go!
* Custom Mob Spawner, it's zip file in your mods folder.
Installation:
* Drag the DragonCatcher zip into your mods folder and remove any old versions.
* If you are upgrading to version 0.5, delete the mod_TinyDragon.cfg file in your config folder.
* ID conflict errors can be fixed by changing the numbers in the new config file.

ChangeLog:
July 11 (0.5.5)
- A new item has been added, the Enchanted Bottle. You can craft it with a glass bottle and three gems arrayed in this formation, and then use it to carry your tamed dragons around with you! Store your collection in a chest, swap out your partners when they get low on health, or even go on safari to other dimensions to collect their native dragons!
- Stay tuned for a mini-update in the next week or so, adding new dragons to take advantage of these bottles.
July 04 (0.5...and a bit.)
- Visit your config file for a new option, goHomeOnDeath. With this set to true, your pet will return to the last place it was told to "sit" instead of dying. Remember to park your pets by your local diamond or gold block before you take it adventuring for the first time, or they won't have anywhere to return to!
- Added compatibility for ExtrabiomesXL. You will now find appropriate dragons in their biomes, including a couple specific to their biome types. =3
July 02 (0.5) (Hope you all enjoyed your Canada Day yesterday!)
- Sometimes killing dragons can have... interesting effects.
- New non-dragon content has been added, two blocks (pyrite and dragoncrystals) will be useful in helping your critters level up. Use four dragoncrystals of the same colour to craft a gem, and use three gems of different colours to craft crystal dust. Dragons will eat any gems, but they prefer crystal dust by far. Try smelting pyrite before feeding it to your dragon!
- Several new items have been added, including the food drop, dragonflank. Please don't feed dragon pieces to your dragons, I guarantee they will not be happy. =(
- Since there are new blocks and items, you will find the config file mod_TinyDragon.cfg in your config folder. (Structures are still in testing, feel free to enable it if you want to see some caves aboveground and dirt in underground basements.)
June 24 (0.4)
- Time to hit the skies, dragons will now fly when you ride on them, and they are no longer stubborn about breeding after they have been saddled. Take them hunting with you frequently and they may just get stronger... Also, Halloween comes early with a new dragon type.
June 19 (0.3)
- Go saddle up those dragons! They are still a bit too small to take flight, but they can run pretty fast when they need to. There are also several new dragon types, if you find a pale white one try feeding it some dyes! Not all the new types are so friendly though...
June 15 (0.2)
- Your dragons will be quieter, only hissing when they want to be fed, and they now stay put if you right click on them while they are near a diamond or gold block. Also, breeding sometimes gives you biome-related offspring, use this to get some hard to find colours! (On the stability front, I think I fixed the click-crash bug.)
Current Features:
* 20+ types of dragons! (How many have you tamed?)
* New blocks and items, use them to help your dragons become stronger!
* You will find different types of dragons in different vanilla biomes, in different places, even around certain blocks or during times of day.
* Dragons can be tamed with a variety of things that make dragons happy, including iron ingots, gold ingots, gold nuggets, gold apples, and diamonds. The better the item, the easier the dragon is to tame.
* Tame dragons can eat food items to regain health, and will stay near gold or diamond bricks if you right click. Put a saddle on them, and right click on them to run around! Just don't feed them dragon meat, they won't like it much.
* Craft an Enchanted Bottle with some of the new items, and carry your dragons in when not in use!
* They will also breed with wheat. Offspring type depend on the parents, in addition to surrounding conditions. Try breeding them in different areas, or with different blocks nearby!
* Tame dragons will hurt things trying to attack you, but they will never attack their own kind. Try not to attack wild dragons if you expect help from your scaly new friends.
* Take your dragons adventuring with you! They may even get stronger the more they hunt! If you can't wait, try feeding them some pyrite ingots, gems, or crystal dust, and watch for their puff of smoke!

A basic dragon just watching~
A big group of swampy dragons.
Can't remember where this guy came from...
A sheep showcasing our new block types.
Sometimes they enjoy stargazing...
And long swims by the beach...
And sometimes just taking in the stunning vistas offered by ExtrabiomesXL.
This one is looking a little worse for wear.
But these ones are having a spa day.
Planned Features:
* Dragon types for mod-specific biomes. These are fully supported in the code, and owners of mods that add biomes can come talk to me about adding new dragons. =3
* Additional behaviours. Dragons will "fixate" on a shiny thing like a diamond block, so you can leave them behind in a safe place.
* Type-specific abilities. Some dragons might be fireproof, others might be rideable, or carry treasures around with them. Other abilites are open to suggestion.
* Custom Sounds. So they don't sound like irritable creepers.
* Breeding-specific dragon types. Enough said. XD
* (More) Dragon related items. Dragon scales as drops, useful things, taming things, etc.
* Health indicator. It will be good to know if your dragons are about to die.
* Indicators for tame, saddled, and 'sitting' dragons.
Questions, Comments and Suggestions?
Here are some things I'm especially looking for feedback on:
* Dragon rarities, are they too common, too hard to find?
* Dragon abilities, what do you want your dragons to do?
* Bugs and errors, if any are popping up, please post an error log so I can look into it.
Hope you all enjoy!

Energy158 has provided this most lovely sig banner!
Wow, that's awesome. I'll definitely be using this from now on.
You should also add some bigger ones too. I can also definitely help you after my exams are done, with the riding or making them bigger and I know how to code the custom sounds, but I can't help you make them, if you want of course.
I shall do my best to keep it fun and interesting then! =D
The model was made at 2x the game size, so scaling it up for big dragons or rideable dragons will be no problem. XD And I have to admit, after all the time spent making sure dragons could be added to biomes even if the biomes weren't in your game, I am looking forward to adding dragons for mods like Trees++ or EBXL.
Also, anyone spot any bugs or glitches yet? During the process of coding tweaks I had a sky-coloured screen happen once or twice, but I haven't been able to replicate it. If anyone spots it I'd love a heads up.

Well, sometimes when I right click the dragon it crashes. But it doesn't happen all the time. I also can't seem to get the crash report.
Thanks all for the model and texture compliments. =D These guys were in the works for at least a month before I got everything tweaked until I was satisfied. So I'm glad the time has paid off!
And firebolts would be an awesome goal. XD I think I'm getting the hang of entities, so perhaps I can tackle making them fly about next.
I've uploaded a new version, with some changes and a fix to that click-freeze experienced in the last one. Have fun finding/breeding all those colours! (Here's a hint, there are 16 findable types in the vanilla biomes so far.)
I must say that this mod is pretty good so far! If you were to add more dragons, that would be great!
Also, I thought you could add scale armor and scale gear. They would have the power of iron but the durability of stone tools.
If you want more dragon type suggestions, I will send you a message, 'kay?
Keep up the good work!
P.S. Sometimes the game crashes when I right click on the dragon... is that normal?

Did you download the new one in the download link? =3 And yeah, I hope scale armor will arrive eventually, along with perma-hostile dragons you don't have to feel bad for whacking around. XD

I did download the new version, and the game still crashes when I right click on one of my dragons. At least this time I get a "saving chunks" screen. Before, the game would freeze and then the screen would turn black.
EDIT - it just happens when I right click on the dragon with an empty hand. When I am holding any other item and I right click on my dragon, the game doesn't crash.
Will all dragon types use the same model? or will some have different models. For example, some that have only two legs and 2 wings (wyvern like) or maybe walk with their wings like bats, or maybe even some that stand more upright like a dinosaur, idk, just random thoughts. Awesome mod regardless

But hey, can I suggest something? Could you add a dragon mob that looks something like this?
