It must really suck to have no Internet access at home. If I were you, I would waste tons of money in Internet cafés. xD
And MALfunction can only do that when he's not working. Well, at least that's a good idea.

You mean like a Mi-Fi? AT&T tried to get me to sign up for that, but the limiting factor there is cell coverage. Coverage in my area is beyond terrible. Also, I refuse to pay them more money for a slower connection with a lower monthly cap.
I've tried using USB tethering on my Android phone (running CM7), but it doesn't work. My PC doesn't recognize it as a network device, even though I thought I had all the drivers in place. Apparently I'm not the only one with that problem. Funny thing is, I can use my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, but the only computer I have that's capable of connecting to Wi-Fi is the Chromebook, which of course I can't use to develop.
The Fates have conspired against me.
wait then install a small wifi pci card in your pc and it can be wifi enabled.
but maybe a hotspot on your phone wouldnt be to fast
So, as I understand it, you have full internet access at work, and need a set of online resources. Do you have a flash drive? What's preventing you from locating and saving any webpages with needed information while you're at work, bringing them home on a flash drive, and loading them up on your home computer? It wouldn't work for video resources, and you won't be able to follow links, but everything else should be available.
If nothing else, you could try writing notes to a .txt...
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
Have you thought about DishNet? 40 bucks a month but at least you will have a solution to the internet problem for now. Also @ the bottom of their site it states this.....
*DISH is able to offer government subsidized High-Speed Internet to a limited number of eligible households as part of the 2009 Recovery Act. If you live in a rural area within the Eastern United States you might be eligible for savings on High-Speed satellite Internet.* This may help if you live out in the boonies. Won't hurt to ask them about it.
aside from living a sad life without Somnia im fine thanx
btw...have you ever considered asking other modders to help you with the development and the internet related things?
Many people have offered to collaborate with me, but that's tough to do, especially without an Internet connection.
Nobody can help with the Internet situation. I'm thinking seriously of getting the government involved, or at least to find out what my options are. This is getting ridiculous. 7 months.

I've actually tried that, but much of my research is reactionary. I'll code for a bit, hit a snag, go research, then try a few things in code... Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to have to wait a whole day between switching from coding to research? Trust me, it sucks. I keep losing my place in the code or forgetting what I was researching. I need to be able to do both at once.

Hope you get back soon. Missing Somnia <<<<keep wanting to spell it somonia lol.
Yeah, I don't mention them by name, but this question is addressed in the Special FAQ in the OP. That $40 price is if you already have DishTV, which I don't. Satellite internet is getting better, but the price is way too high for what you get. I will check around some more, but I've yet to find a good deal.
Would it be possible for me to putter about with the code, and attempt to make an unofficial update with your permission ofc (client side only is what i plan for now)

I understand that, and what I'm suggesting is that, while you are at work, you seek out any and all resources you think you might need, save them to a file, and bring them home on a flash drive, independently of your internet access. This should allow you to load them at home while you are coding, whenever you should need them. I understand this could be a large amount of pages, and navigating them could be less than easy, but they would at least be available while you are coding.

MALfunction is starting from scratch. The old source code is useless thanks to Jeb and Dinnerbone.

Identifying "any and all" is easier said than done. Things like Forge and Minecraft are moving targets. The resources I would need are changing faster than I can keep up over the Sneakernet.
It was a really really useful mod.
I was a single player at 1.2.5. But when 1.3 was begging, I found the somnia won't be update.
So I still played 1.2.5 for a long time, untill 1.4 out.
And, I have to give up to play on server.
But I like single play much more. So I'll still waiting for somnia update, whatever it will update at 1.5,1.6 or 1.X.
No Somnia No Single Play Minecraft.
At last, Thank you for this Great Creation!

If that doesn't work you can also try Hughsnet and DirectTV

Yeah, that and I'm not actually paying for the hotspot feature. I don't want to tick off my cell provider. It's all I have left.

He's quite right. You're welcome to start from scratch like me.

You taught us a valuable lesson of always checking local providers before moving to a new area.
