Is there a way/mod to change the max light level from 15 and either higher or lower?
or change the step per block from 1 (going from 14 light level on a torch to 13 one block away) to .5 or some other smaller number?
I just get tired of placing so many torches all over my landscape so that I have an area that is free from mobs spawning, and is not totally dark at night without setting out torches every few (about 10 or so) blocks. I am currently using the light air mod so I dont have to look at my light sources, but would rather just have my torches/glowstone/jack o lanterns/etc go farther.
Thanks for the mod idea, but its no better (and in some ways slightly worse as it needs a visible obviously non-vanilla block) than the light air mod. My best case scenario would be someone pointing out where in the code I change a 1 to a .5 or something like that (since I have never looked at the code and wouldnt know where to look).
I think I am looking for a way to get the minecraft light to work closer to what IRL light looks like it works. (if put into a minecraft like setting)

I suggest you take a look at the FloodLights mod
