Hello, i would like to suggest a mod for any experienced modders out there who need a good idea for a mod. This mod is called the Advanced Tinkering Mod. This mod's main focus is the crafting bench, which is changed to be the most vital item in the game.
Pixel: The game adds Pixels, which is 1/16 of a blocks height and width. All blocks are made out of pixels of various colors. Breaking blocks with the appropriate tool will give you that block (which can then but apart on the crafting bench) but using a Chisel (one flint on a stick in your inventory crafting) you can break pixels individualy. This will give you one pixel of that type. It you break off a piece of stone, it will drop a stone pixel, and if you break off a piece of wood, it gives you a wood pixel, or Bark pixel. Pixels stack in your inventory in stacks of 64, but if you craft a PixelPouch (3 wool and one string) you can store ALL of your pixels in one slot, nomatter how many you have.
Crafting Bench: The crafting bench is now crafted with one wooden log. When you open a crafting bench, it looks somewhat like Techne (the modeler) The GUI has various tabs. These tabs are unlocked when you find various materials.
Cutting Tab (Unlocked when you craft an axe and pickaxe): This tab shows what looks like a crafting bench with a saw, and miniature pickaxe on top of it. There is a slot where you can place the block/item you would like to cut. When you place the item/block in the slot, it will show the various pixels that it can be cut into.Every item/block has different cutting possibilities. Stone can be cut into 32 pixels (I know 16x16x16 is 4096, but who would need that much, so I decided on half a stack) Wooden logs can be cut into 16 sticks, and one stick can be cut into 16 pixels. Powder such as redstone can be cut into 4 redstone pixels. When you cut ore, you get a number of pixels of that ore, and 32 stone pixels. How much per ore: Iron - 16 Coal -16, Lapis – 32, Gold – 8, Dimond – 4, Emerald – 1. Cutting crops gives you an amount of pixels of that crop.
Item Crafting Tab (Unlocked when you first use the cutting tab): The crafting tab looks like Techne. On the far left, there is an OPTIONS sidebar, which allows you to name your item, give it lore below the name, switch between 3d and 2d, and other various options. On the far left There is a scrollable list of all of your pixels, which can be picked out of their slot like you would in an inventory, but can be placed on the GUI. You can place various pixels together to craft items. In 2d mode, the item one has 2 dimensions, and looks like other items in minecraft. This will show a 16x16 pixel wide screen where you can place pixels to make your own textured item. In 3D mode, you can make a 3D item that has a model in your hand (like flans mod guns) and has a custom made texture for your inventory (does not use pixels to make that texture) You can place pixels on eachother to create items that have various uses. When you finish crafting an item, you can see how it would look in the players hand and from your view, and rotate it, and change its scale, or shrink/enlarge it so that it is not to big. (You can shrink an item to be smaller than original, but you cannot enlarge it so that it is larger than original) This also allows you to make the item have better details and more complex redstone inside, at the expense of more materials required.
Item Functionality: Both in 3d and 2d mode, certain pixels have different functions and effects added when placed on/in your item. If your item has iron on it, it does more damage when punched with it (so you can make custom swords) Lines of redstone will be activated, and will activate other pixels when activated by a redstone current. And buttons (yes, you can put a button in the cutting slot and make a button pixel) will activate redstone and other machines in the item. Buttons can be set to a hotkey that can only be used while holding the item, so you can set one button to be activated when you right click, and another activated when you press X. On the option bar, there is also a box that lets you choose what kind of object this is. You can choose weapon, ammo, food (If you choose food, holding right click with the item will remove all food pixels from the item, but heal your hunger a certain amount. All non-food pixels will be left behind, but if there are none, the item is destroyed.), container (Containers can be right clicked to store an item/stack in it),Sheath (like a container, but right clicking will put the contents in your hand, and put the sheath elsewhere.) or other.
Block Crafting Tab (Unlocked when you first use the cutting tab): This is fairly similar to the 3d item crafting tab, except the item can be placed. Blocks cannot be shrunk/enlarged like items, so it is always 16x16x16. Blocks can be either just decorative, or have functionalities given by the pixels inside of them.
Armor Crafting Tab (Unlocked when you get Iron, diamonds, gold, or leather): Lets you create armor around a manikin. The armor protection is decided on what material you used and how much you used. Making armor made out of iron, but guilded with Gold, with a diamond gemstone will give you a durability between iron and diamond armor. You can also add functionalities to the armor, such as jetpacks (redstone mechanism detonates TNT pixels launching you upwards.) or tnt cannon/gun on your shoulder that is activated by a hotkeyed button. Armor does not have to be flat on the body and can extend outwards.
Warning: This is the point that my ideas started getting a bit too complicated and could be dumbed down a bit if you want.
Vehicle Crafting Tab: This lets you build a vehicle out of pixels which can be ridden. You can make a seat with an option on the left that lets you select a group of pixels to act as a seat. This seat can be right clicked to ride. You can build a vehicle as large as you want, but at the expense of materials. There is also an option to choose what kind of vehicle it is (land vehicle, air vehicle, water vehicle) vehicles without motors are manually powered and drain your food bar. I haven’t exactly thought of a way that you could motorize your vehicles, so ill leave that for the mod maker to decide.
TinkerToy Crafting Tab: This is a special tab that is only unlocked when you kill the wither. You can cut a wither star into 1 Star Pixel. In the Tinkertoy Tab, you can basically build a mob out of pixels and bring it to life with a star pixel. You can build a tinkertoy as large are you want. A tinkertoy has to be wound up every couple of days (a day in minecraft is 20 minutes) When making your tinkertoy, you have to give it a windup key. Right clicking the windup key on a toy will wind up the toy so it can live, but shift right clicking will open a GUI that lets you edit its AI, so that it will follow a course, kill mobs, follow you, build things, or even mine strip mines. You can also replace the wind up key with a start pixel. Right clicking the star pixel will turn your toy on or off, and shift right clicking will open the GUI. Tinker Toys can be shrunk to fit complex redstone inside of a small toy.
Pixel Functions: Some pixels have functions, such as TNT pixels, which can be detonated by a redstone pixel activation, and can be used to make functional TNT cannons in your hand like guns. There are no piston Pixels, so you have to use Spring pixels, which is the result of putting one iron pixel in the cutting tab. A spring pixel will push pistons like a piston, and is activated by redstone. Springs can also be “Stacked” or placed in a line to push pixels stronger and faster. A line of two springs will shoot the pixel a small distance, but enough springs could shoot projectiles like bullets. Rotator pixels will spin a group of connected pixels when activated by a redstone current.
Mod Compatibility: This mod will be compatible with other mods such as computercraft. You can put a computer in the cutting slot to get 16 screen pixels and a computer Pixel, which when connected, will let you write programs on the computer. This can be used to Automate your blocks functions.
So if you like this idea and are a modder, please think about making this mod. Thanks.
P.S. I know that it is very likely that a mod like this would be impossible, and if it is, i understand.
