I would really like to make my house look better, but a full block-sized wall is incredibly thick! This mod would add thin walls and floors so that your house isn't as blocky. I would love it if someone could create a mod that adds the following new items:
1. Walls
About as thick as fences
Must be placed on a flooring panel
2. Flooring panels
Fits just on top of the block beneath it, leaving room for items to be placed on top of it (i.e. no block sized floors)
3. Walls with window
Crafted the same as a wall but with a glass pane in the middle (see recipe below).
Recipes:
Walls - 3 blocks high of whatever resource you want the wall to be made of. Sod (dirt walls), Cobblestone, Stone, Brick, Wood, Sticks (Tiki shack?), Obsidian, etc. The wall block would cover one space of wall (some people prefer 2 high walls, some 3, etc.), but since 3 blocks of resources are used it produces 3 wall blocks. The only walls that can be placed not on a floor panel are Sod walls.
Brick Wall:
Flooring panels - 3 half blocks wide of whatever resource you want the floors to be made of. Same ingredients, also produces three single squares of floor panels.
Hardwood floors:
Walls with window - Use the same recipe as the wall, but with a glass pane in the middle. This will produce a single square of wall with a window in it (maybe make the window open/close as well?). Produces 3 wall blocks.
Stone wall with window:
Let me know what you think of this idea.
A huge please and thank you to all of the coders out there!
Sure, but doors aren't blocky. Glass panes, fencing, fence gates, signs, etc, aren't blocky either. I just want to extend those aspects of minecraft to my walls/floors, to make my sandbox a bit better for me. The way I see it, it's great that resources are gathered in blocks, but for my house I would prefer actual walls/floors.
My recommendation for you (at least until someone codes exactly what you want): Install Eloraam's amazing mod RedPower 2. She included in this mod a tool you can craft called a hacksaw, which can cut blocks (just about any type of block) into slabs (half blocks), panels (quarter blocks), covers (eighth blocks), slab strips (slabs cut in half the other direction), panel strips (panels cut into quarters the other direction), cover strips (covers cut into eighths the other direction), slab corners (slab strips cut in half in the third direction, making a cube 1/8 the size of a full block), panel corners (panel strips cut into quarters in the third direction making a cube 1/64 the size of a full block), cover corners (cover strips cut into eighths in the third direction making a cube 1/512 the size of a full block (truly tiny!). There is even a few more shapes you can cut blocks into (doughnut, pillar). The cool thing about all of this is that when you place these "micro blocks" into the world, you can control where the block will go, and how it will be oriented. Most people think about these blocks as a way to hide redstone wiring inside of the walls of a normal house, since they can be used to make hollow walls. This is certainly true, and very cool, but these blocks could also be used for making interior walls in your house, and since you can use just about any type of block, you could really get creative with the decorating. I hope you look into this option, and have fun.
