Rahz here, maker of Asteroid 5251. I've been itching to do another map but every time I get around to ideas it always comes back to this one thing... not enough control of mobs. The new idea is nothing like 5251, and is more akin to a traditional dungeon crawl, except random mobs is no good. So, if a modder wanted to help me solve this problem I would be able to start my next Minecraft vision, plus I'm sure the custom map community in general would benefit from this mod.
The mod: I want the mod to turn off random mob spawns, and I want mob spawners to be programmable. The currently available 'mob GUI' is quite nice, but I need to be able to set the number of mobs it will spawn and have it spawn them all at once. This way if I want the player to walk into a room and fight 5 skeletons, that would be possible.
Additional functionality: A possible addition to the "mob control mod" would be an optional toggle switch on spawners. By default the spawner would spawn it's mobs when the player enters the spawn radius. If the switch is used on a specific spawner, it would only spawn when affected by a redstone signal.
If someone would help with this mod I would be greatful, and it would result in me making another epic map.
No because the dispenser spits out eggs not mobs, and only spits out one at a time. Even if those issues were addressed, I'm wanting to spawn all the mobs in the map and that would be a huge amount of work and redstone. I would rather spend the time making really cool settings and not have to structure everything around a bunch of redstone wire.
Hmm, if the dispensers are updated to spit out mobs that will be worth playing around with. Can anyone confirm this is defiantly going to be in an update? If so, that would be enough to motivate me to begin planning and building.
The only problem after that would be random mobs... I need to be able to turn them off but still have the dispensers work. Surely that would be an easy mod.
When I use a dispenser it spits out eggs. I think this might be changing in the next update. But yep, 5 dispensers and some redstone would spit out 5 monsters. Or, redstone repeaters could be used to get 5 monsters from one dispenser.
I have secured the mod that will prevent random spawns, and hopefully a future update will allow us to program mob encounters with redstone and dispensers.
However, it's gonna take a LOT of redstone to program all the various dispensers I have in mind. I will do it if I have to, but it would be much easier to use a mod that allows mob spawners to be programmed, so I'm still requesting that someone make this mod.
The ability to easily create custom mob encounters would be huge. Any way to make it easier would encourage the mapping community to build these types of maps with custom encounters. I think such a mod would get a lot of attention.
