Request for a block that I have no idea why isn't in the default game. Basically items that are placed on this block get sucked inside and output into the chest below. Now to make it more useful on right click it'd have a few inventory slots in which to define filters. Maybe also a redstone signal sent when an item is accepted? It'd make it possible to finally make true payment systems, a block that could actually detect that a player threw a gold bar into the stream instead of a piece of dirt. Or, my personal favorite, a way to automatically sort your treasure. Throw all your junk into a water stream and it would carry your treasure over multiple funnels and the funnels would only accept the proper treasure with the rejected items continuing to flow along floating right over the top.
TL;DR Hopper from Better than Wolves, with a more powerful filtering system, that works on SMP. Currently getting bitched at because I refuse to use my lady friend's ridiculous treasure 'organization' method. Help me be able to build something to save my sanity :tongue.gif: (we've got 15+ double chests and she says buckets + leaves go in the same chest.... how the **** does that make sense?).
while a agree that something like this would be awesome and make many things so much more interesting there is an awesome mod, the allocator is awesome, does the same thing redstone activated, check it out
it's also like industrial craft
^
this is a "there is a mod for that" post
Which is cool, and as I said, it's been done. But industrial craft is only 1.8.1 and I'd really prefer to stay as vanilla as possible :/, but if there's a working 1.9 build of industrial craft I'll settle lol.

Awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip/
Edit: Awww doesn't seem to support item filtering :/, that's kind of a must.
no one is going to release mod versions for every single pre release version (unless it's easily done, like with TMI). also, this has indeed been done before, but are you asking for just a hopper block and nothing else?

Yep, literally just a hopper block (with some way to filter accepted items, heck take a crafting table screen and just cut out the output block and it'd be perfect. 9 filters is plenty) and that is it. Hopefully it can be done by only modifying classes that are more or less complete and won't break every update. The main reason I don't use any mods is so I don't have to worry about waiting for updates. But it seems that every day I wish I had this block.
Thanks for the link, but I already found it. It's definitely cool, but doesn't support item filtering yet, but hopefully soon! Maybe this (or a similar block) will end up like pistons and be so obviously awesome that Mojang has no choice but bow before it's fanbase and add it to the game :tongue.gif:.
yea it does, if you take a look at the suggestions page it has a lot more information on it. there is a link to it on the first link
Epic, you are absolutely right. I went ahead and dug around more after I saw a suggestion for filtering and found out there's even an SMP version but that the author doesn't give it out because it's not modloader compatible. Sent him a pm and hopefully I can get a copy.
well the issue with SMP is that i think each people on the server has to have the mod as well or it wont work correctly. dont quote me on that, im not sure.

You're right, but I'm wanting it for my own small private server. We've only got about 5 people so making them install a client mod is no big deal.

Seems to be 1.8.1 :/, and doesn't look like it has SMP support.
