As a followup to my previous post, I would send in a notice myself but I am not quite sure how to do it (I should probably google that... oh, wait, Google is full of fake and bad links before you get to the real ones! I went through a page and a half of links before i found the minecraft forums link for the previous mod!)
EDIT: One Google search later and I have to be the copyright owner... Well, Google, if I was the copyright owner, I wouldn't be searching for that, would I? I could make a really badly coded mod so that sites redistribute it and then i can take them down! Now where was that really bad mod generator?
Really bad mod generator? Like, a generator that makes bad mods or a generator that outputs links to mod reposting websites?
Well, the only one that's reposting mods and hasn't been added to the list yet is 3minecraft
Although that Google Site is doing illegal stuff too, but it's a Google Site, don't know whether I should put it on the list...
Anyways, thanks! ^^
mod reposts have one upside though: some mod authors can't (or don't want to) store older versions - if you need them for compatibility reasons, or because you want to play an older version of minecraft (eg. because of redpower) these sites are your only chance
Not exactly, most modders will keep an archive of their released mods for people to download (This also helps modpack creators create modpacks that need a lower version). So your point is to go to illegal sites to get an older version of a mod with the risk of downloading malware? No thanks. My case is settled.
Although I don't think this effort is a bad idea, I don't see this doing much other than raising awareness for new players.
If this were a thing, I would see mod major mod developers supporting it just like chuchaz is.
Raising awareness is the entire point of this thread, by teaching new players to avoid sites like this, we are protecting them, and helping to stop this problem. As for major mod developers, there are a lot of them who support this movement and continue to do so.
That makes sense. I'm pretty sure that, as long as you have A, The Source Code; B, Ownership of the GitHub/VCS Service of which the Source Code is uploaded to; C, Enough Money to hire a Legitimate Lawyer, you can sue the person who copyrighted your mod for Copyrighting Assets you have No Rights to Copyright.

Really bad mod generator? MCMG is your answer.

Also, with sites like Curse nowadays, modders' only reasons to not store older versions are either because it's very buggy, or it's very old.
Eh, tried that one already, my computer bluescreened.
so
All my social media whachamacallsems!

Therefore, it is a really bad mod generator.
I think that was just coincidence puppyspirit36. Websites can't really bluescreen your PC unless they're infected.
This has to be stoped
i found a website that lies about version and author web site
18minecraft.com
Thank you for the information, Etes_The_Epic. Someone will add it to the list unless it's already there.

Check out my website Here!Website is down until further notice.if you have any notes on the mod or the pre releases you can sue them make money and they can go to jail
Honestly, there's really not much you can do sadly.
Lol nobody will be sent to jail. Do you know the amount of monetary resources required for a lawsuit to proceed?
