NotEnoughItems hasn't been released for 1.7.2 yet. Also, try this: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=NotEnoughItems
TooManyItems (TMI) has been released, though, so it's possible to use that instead.
EDIT April 7th: NotEnoughItems has been out a little while, and due to the huge traffic to this post, I should probably place a link right here. The link appears on ChickenBones' mod thread.
I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.
it will be out for 1.7 when ChickenBones gets around to it. Other than that no one knows. Just wait patiently. Until then it's available for 1.6.4. :drumming fish
Atleast someone actually answeres and has some brains....

I can't wait until it comes out. it seems much better than too many items!(not)
It wouldn't make much difference to most people if TMI had the recipe book, searching capability, mod filters, etc. that comes in NEI. But it does have those things, so your sarcasm about it on a page with the specific purpose of trying to locate it is a bit puzzling. There is a reason the mod is popular. Also, I had TMI to use in the interim while waiting for NEI, and it suddenly stopped working, even after removing and replacing the mod. I've never heard of a problem like that with NEI. So I for one shall wait patiently for ChickenBones to release the awesomeness that is NEI.
what I don't get is how anyone has updated their mods, I can't find 1.7.2 MCP anywhere
Forge no longer uses MCP. It uses a new system called ForgeGradle. It eliminates the need for MCP, but any other mod that does not use Forge uses the release candidates that Searge tweeted about.

Forge still uses MCP. MCP contributes mappings between meaningless names for stuff in the Minecraft source and names that actually make sense. MCP even appears in the in-game mod list
