Just tried to use geothermal generators to create power for my MFE. Crafted everything I needed, or so I thought. I made the MFE, then made 3 Geothermals. Made some gold cabling just because I had a little extra gold. I set everything down and my Thermal Expansion Fluiducts wont connect, thought, no biggie. Will use Buildcraft pipes. Tried cobblestone fluid pipes and gold fluid pipes, neither connected. Thought, damn it greg wtf? Opened the Geothermal Interface and see it's been changed. So I made me a bucket and filled it with lava. Didn't work. Made forestry cans and filled 1 with lava, no joy. Then I made ic2 exp Empty Cells and filled 1 with lava, still no damned joy!!! grrr... Been using ic2 since before mc1.2.5. Needed another good reason to quit using ic2 in favor of other mods, so thanks greg. Only thing left worth using ic2 for, is the jetpack. Also, seems the only way to learn to use this screwy ic2 exp version is to give ad revenue via youtube, or get frustrated. Anyone know of another mod that adds a jetpack? Preferably one not done by greg?
As much as I like the changed recipes in IC² Experimental, I share your pain with the geothermals. I was running a custom skyblock server with Ex Nihilo, IC² EXP, Thermal Expansion 3, and a few other mods, and thought I'd abuse an infinite lava -> energy setup I had, using blazing pyrotheum as a heat source for crucibles, melting down cobble from an igneous extruder and piping that into magmatic crucibles. Tried to hook it up to a geothermal generator for the same function in IC², nothing happened. No lava. It's going through the fluiducts, but it isn't being accepted into the generator, from any side. Thought, hey, maybe it needs cells to put the lava in and generate energy, idk. Put in an empty cell just as a test, and--... oh, that's cool, my game just crashed. Let's read the error report. Okay, just looks like an out of memory error, no biggie. Let's start the world back up--oh. Okay. It doesn't exist anymore. That's fine, I don't mind starting over and considering the last several hours to have been a complete waste of time.
Yes, I've experienced the same thing. So I'm not using optifine, and all works fine. But the geothermals don't accept lava buckets as energy sources, how to fix it?
Try pumping it in with ducts, pipes, or use a pump.
Ducts are sketchy. I just ran some tests in creative, and while the fluiducts will always hook up to magmatic dynamos, I've found that 1/5 of the time, they either won't hook up to geothermal generators, or they will but simply don't pump any lava in. They seem to be bugged -- not sure what's causing it, but I wouldn't rely on geothermal generators as a main power source, just in case.
With IC2 Experimental, Is burning scaffolding still a good source of EU from wood? I running extra wood from tree farms through auto crafting tables then sending scaffolds into generators.
My mind is kinda blown right now. I leave for almost a year and come back and this thread is still a thing. Anyway, I have a couple of new questions.
I can't compress plates into dense metal plates. I'm using CraftGuide to look at recipes, and it clearly shows that this is a valid recipe, but it just doesn't do anything.
Also how do you spawn items with data values? Like a nuclear reactor or, i don't know, DENSE PLATES? I figure I'll just spawn it since I can't make it.

Only thing bugging me so far is that the EU reader does not work yet. I am having issues on weather my generating system is outputting as much EU as it should be. I have 6 wind and 5 solar but seem not to be generating enough EU to power the Ore washing plant constatnly. I have the wind turbines at level 105 or so minus about six or so for obstructions. I shout be generating more than 16EU per tick. I estimate I should be making about 20 or so EU. Am I doing the math right?

Build 384? Try Build 397. Fluiducts simply do not work with geothermals apparently. They'll hook up -- but nothing gets pumped in, at all.

I moderate these forums as much as I can despite not being a moderator.
I strongly support:
Better clouds
Natural Disasters
More uses for The Nether
Hope it helps****
