What this does is help people who have little to no knowledge to installing mods achieve that goal of getting the mod they always wanted. Basically, it installs Forge or OptiFine or any mod that requires going into the .jar file of Minecraft and also allows moving mods directly to the Mods folder (for Forge or ModLoader). It is coded in Batch AND Mac code (Bash I think) and relies on 7za, the command line version of 7-Zip (included in the Windows package, not needed for the Mac version).
What this is capable of:
Installing directly to .jar
Moving to /mods/
Switching between Forge and Vanilla
Moving /mods/ to and from Desktop (for if you have to fix mods)
Fixing "Unsupported Method" errors which occur with certain Forge zips
I HIGHLY recommend reading the How to Use text file inside the archive, as it will tell you how to use this.
This only works on Windows and Mac currently, but I am planning on porting this to Linux... maybe. Help welcome!
4/27/13 - Removed any pauses from files, due to testing. Now users do not have to hit a key to close the window when re-zipping Forge/OptiFine to get rid of header errors or when moving the Mods folder to the desktop.
5/2/13 - Made it so you no longer have to move 7za.exe manually, it will be moved when you re-zip Forge/OptiFine OR install them. Also added links (in the package, not here) to Forge and OptiFine download pages (will NOT download automatically).
5/5/13 - Mac Version is released!
5/25/13 - Slight rewording of the Help file on both versions
Woo! Big update! Now you no longer have to move 7za.exe manually! And there are links to download Forge and OptiFine! Also, no progress has been done on porting to Mac! (Sorry Mac users, you will have to wait. )
The Mac version of this is out! Just download, unzip, and follow the How to Use file in the package to use it! MUST BE SAVED TO THE DESKTOP
Also, not very extensive testing has been done on the Mac version (due to the emulator I compiled it on cannot run Minecraft), so if you have problems with either version (but Mac especially), post it here!

Well, I tried installing optifine (dragged zip onto the correct file) and it seemed to install. I then ran minecraft, and it wouldn't load paste the Updating Minecraft screen (It wasn't actually updating).
If it makes you feel better, switch to vanilla works.
Okay, i made an account specifically for this, i have tried to install forge but i keep getting an error, as soon as i try to open forge installer it opens up a cmd window and immediately closes so i can't read what the text says, i have looked up on numerous websites and videos on how to fix this problem but none work, i know its something to do with java but i don't know what, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated! i cannot play with the custom npc's mod without this or any other mods!
