Which one do you like better? Feed the Beast modpack or Tekkit?
I would have to choose Tekkit because it has Redpower and the millions of block halves and things you can make. Plus FTB just has too much of the same things.
Voted Tekkit.
1.4 did bring some new stuff compared to 1.2.5, but not nearly as much as RedPower. I could do without Equivalent exchange, although I would certainly miss my mass destruction/creation tools, I can easilly go without industrial craft as after you made all the machines possible, it kinda becomes boring. I can easilly go without buildcraft as the quarry in itself is automated, but slow as hell. I can no longer go without redpower though. I would even prefer redpower alone over FTB.
About the backup of modmakers, I couldn't care less. I play the mods for the mods, not the makers. I am going to asume here they made the mods for me to enjoy rather then for them to be supported.
Tekkit still uses Minecraft 1.2.5 while FTB uses 1.4.*
I vote for no one!
How is it unfair? With the bunch of mods both are using, you can easilly disregard the difference in versions (Just view 1.4 as a mod over 1.2.5)
And pointless? It's a poll about preferences. Polls are statistics and can be interresting for people..
FTB. It's a shame that they don't have redpower. The thing that I like is more mechanical industrial mods(eg buildcraft). Tekkit has some really random stuff like EE. Technic is even worse although FTB has a few magical things in it(that I don't like). FTB doesn't have optifine, but it does have ExtraBiomesXL making it up for that by far
It is better to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission. Props to Tekkit for that.
Wow. Degradation of society is highly apparent here. Lack of strong morals as well. Whatever happened to NOT wanting to have to seek forgiveness, by doing the RIGHT thing in the FIRST place? Is it not better to do the right thing? I for one, would much rather ask permission, before doing something stupid, so that later I don't have to seek forgiveness. But ignore me. I'm an old, cranky artifact from a bygone age.
Note: If FTB managed to make a "legal" pack, then Tekkit surely could have done the same.
1) Support from the Modmakers
2) A better selection of mods where not everything is so overly complicated
3) EE3, when it comes out that is. EE2 is probably the only mod in Tekkit I ever used extensively, although I did enjoy mining the new ores.
Heh. Because it ACTUALLY adds challenge to survival? Because it actually makes the game last longer? Because it does more than just add a bunch of end-game OP loot?

Yeah that's my problem with most of the mods in the game. They really don't try for more variety in the mid levels :s
I don't really like terrafirmacraft much, it got really complicated really fast, but yeah surviving in real life is complicated. No issue with a realism mod, I just don't like it much.
Tekkit only has redpower because it is in 1.2.5, FTB also has a 1.2.5 version which also has redpower. FTB also has a much better 1.4.2 version which is awaiting red power. It also actually ASKED FOR PERMISSION from the mod makers.

So, I can steal something and then ask for forgiveness, and it's all fine? Sure thing.

Though there is some charm to a Dwarf Fortress-esque game it's kind of a pain.
