I've actually thought about this, you could air-bast animals (Like the blast glove for 1.2.5) and loose items on the ground, you could also jump pretty high when you air bend the ground, and it could help lessen fall damage
Hello! I was actually thinking about this rather extensively. Here's my idea for it.
* * *
The Basics
When you create a new world it gives you five options to click on with the title of it, "CHOOSE YOUR ELEMENT." You may choose between: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Non-Bending. So, then you can choose only one of the five. After you choose you are in a brand new world with a book called "UNLOCKING THE AVATAR." You are clearly the Avatar and whatever element you chose you start with. If you start with Non-Bending then you start off with 0 perks.
To unlock each perk, you have to gain experience. If you start with EARTH, you have to get up to level 10 in order to get WATER, up to 20 to get FIRE, up to 30 to get AIR, and up to 40 to get AVATAR STATE. If you start as a Non-Bender, you get EARTH at 10, WATER at 20, FIRE at 30, AIR at 40, and AVATAR STATE at 50.
Now, when you start off you get the perk depending on each nation.
Fire: You cannot be burned by flames or anything like that. Plus, fireball throwing. Also, clicking a certain button on the keyboard puts you in the center of a ring of fire.
Earth: You can break through blocks 15% faster. Plus, you can destroy areas of land with a click of a button (picture a creeper-sized explosion wherever the user clicks). Also, something along the lines of the "Gravity Gun Mod", where you can pick up only blocks though.
Water: You cannot drown at all. Plus, setting down water with a click of a button (without a bucket), and clicking the same button again to pick it up. That and have unlimited snowballs.
Air: Like "MCBuilder_Crafter_Inventor" had said--you don't take fall damage, air-blasting animals, and higher jumping.
Avatar State: In the Avatar State, it should go to a loading screen like how you "Enter the Nether" or something, but instead have it say, "Entering the Avatar State". Now, when the screen loads, all the mobs in a 50 block radius should be dead. Trees in that radius should also be on fire and there should be explosions scattered randomly with bits of waters in some of the holes. Things to just bring everything together. The Avatar State has to load and can only be used once every so often.

Optional Mobs
That, and a few optionally modded things should be in there. A sub-thing should be Mo'Creatures: Avatar Edition. Flying Bison, Fire Ferrets, Winged Lemurs, Tigerdillos, Polar-Bear Dogs, and Badger-Moles.
Flying Bison: Big things that fly through the air. You can saddle them and ride them. A Flying-Bison Saddle would probably be a crafting table full of leather, with two iron ingots in the bottom left and right corners. Tamed with Cooked Chicken. When a Bison dies, the saddle falls off and leather is gained.
Fire Ferrets: Small creatures that scurry through forests, they are also impervious to flames. Tamed with Coal. When killed, leaves coal.
Winged Lemurs: They can fly from tree to tree and you can tame them by giving them apples. They'll follow you around and attack mobs that you hit from above. When killed, leaves seeds.
Tigerdillos: Mobs that resemble big cats with shells on their back. They attack smaller mobs and sometimes kill the player. Their shell will just hit arrows back at people. When killed, leaves leather.
Polar-Bear Dogs: Only found in the Arctic, not quite the size of a Flying Bison, but a little smaller. The Saddle is the same way as the Bison and they can be tamed as well with cooked fish. When killed, leaves wool.
Badger-Moles: Live in tunnels, ravines, and caves. A neutral mob that lives in small groups. They're about the size of a Tigerdillo. They drill in caves and make their own tunnels. When killed, leaves behind cobblestone.
* * *
Other Ideas
Gliders: Three sticks in the middle of a crafting bench, feathers in all four corners. Allows the player to glide from tall places and fall safely.
Pro-Bending: Matches that are simply big arenas. Make it similar to the Legend of Korra.
Stun-Rods: Like the ones the Equalists have. The player can equip them like a sword and it shocks the victim and paralyzes them for .5 seconds.
* * *
That's all my ideas that I can give. Hope someone can make this or something!
