About MC Realms MC Realms is our attempt at creating large-scale, objective based gameplay within Minecraft, focusing on rivalries between large groups of players.
Forge alliances, become a resource magnate, build densely populated cities, and fight for your colony's honor and the spoils of untapped lands.
As a player on our server, you'll have the choice of joining one of the many player-run colonies or even founding one of your own. Colonies compete for resources to construct their settlements and attract new residents. The greatest civilizations will assert their dominance in battle and the splendor of their cities. Experience a player-driven society and economy: we provide you with the tools and interface, and you handle the rest.
We're aware that the combat in Minecraft is somewhat undeveloped, but we also believe that the resourcefulness and ingenuity of our players can make for very interesting gameplay and tactics indeed.
Build fortifications to defend your harvesters, drive the opposing colonies back with weapons, send in demolition squads with TNT to sabotage enemy operations, defend from constructed emplacements with bows or cannons, channel lava and water to impede enemy advancement, or sneak your way behind enemy lines to assassinate resource collectors and pilfer the spoils. It's up to your imagination!
THIS is MC Realms.
Get ready for a new kind of Minecraft.
--- [UPDATE] We just got a new server. We now have Dual Xeons and 16GB RAM; coupled with our 100MBit connection, we should be able to handle 100+ users at a time.
Still need a modder to help with the interface!
We want players to be able to "purchase" properties from a map interface, which would assign them to the zone's protection list after drawing the cost from their inventory.
We also want to create a respawn system that would send players back to a "respawn altar" within the zone they died in. [EDIT]
---
To be more specific about the gameplay on our server: You can join colonies, which are groups of players that work together to build a settlement. Every day or so, colonies are given the opportunity to collect resources in a newly generated area, which is a completely unprotected battleground where teamwork and defense of your resource collectors is vital. Each cluster of settlements will have a central capitol city that serves as a trade hub, and the economy will be completely driven by the players. There will probably be no currency or "jobs," just simple bartering of resources.
Upon joining the server, you are immersed in a short, story-driven introductory area and quest chain with the purpose of getting players familiarized with our custom interface and the act of purchasing property with resources. After this you leave the capitol city and join one of the many player-run settlements scattered around the world.
Player colonies participate in battlegrounds for resources to help construct their cities and attract more players to their settlements. They can also wager resources against other colonies in arena-style games, with the winning team reaping the spoils. Tournaments will be held regularly, with valuable or usually unattainable block types as the rewards.
Our first Capitol City:
The Overseer (a floating citadel):
The sewers and slums:
There are five people working on this at the moment. We have various experience with coding and web design. Nuphire: Server Administrator cthom: Code Monkey ismikeeme: Architect Bootleg_Steve: Architect Vorlin: Architect and project manager
We have pretty ambitious plans for an interactive live map interface that allows you to click on icons to view player or property profiles from the website. What we need are a couple good programmers who know their way around java, and someone experienced with Drupal or other CMS to help with the site. You can contact me at [email protected]
I also go by the name vorlin57 on Skype and Steam Thanks for checking out our project!
WANTED: Architects
Most of the structures you see in the images above are unfinished. We may need a couple new architects to assist in building the capitol cities and starting areas. One capitol will service twelve colonies, so we will likely be constantly building new capitols as more players join the server. Our architects will always be busy creating new and unique cities to match the various locales of each settlement cluster. Up next: a desert capitol, with elaborate palaces, a market, and outlying nomadic huts.
WANTED: Modders
We have plans for several custom plugins and a client wrapper that would provide players with a unique interface allowing for trade, property purchases, and more. We would like for the in-game map to recognize line of sight when below ground or within structures, so that peeking underground or through walls for minerals and secret chambers is not possible. We'd also like for it to hide block layers above the player's current position whenever blocks are present above them, so that entering a closed area will have an effect not unlike views in isometric games where the ceiling is hid when indoors.
WANTED: Graphic Designer
You've likely noticed the lack of banners, logos, or icons for our server. The few of us on the team so far are practically hopeless at digital illustration, and we'd love to have someone join the team to create all the pretty pictures to put on our upcoming website and forum posts.
Planned Games:
Resource Wars
This is the big one. These are scheduled events where two (or more) colonies are given an open portal to a large battleground of freshly generated terrain, ripe with minerals and other resources. Players are allowed to enter or exit the battlefield at any time while the portals are open, and bring any items they wish to the battle. This will be the main source of building materials to players, and venturing further from your portal towards enemy territory is a risky but potentially fruitful endeavor.
Spleef
The ubiquitous Minecraft pastime. We’ll have players’ inventories saved and emptied before each game, and might add some fun things like TNT or obstacles to the arenas.
Siege Battles
Each settlement will have a designated building area for the construction of the bases used in this game type. At the start of a Siege Battle, two colonies’ bases are cuboid-copied to face each other in a destroy-the-objective style match where each team has a block to protect at the core of their respective bases. Player inventories are saved before each match. We may enforce some restrictions on usable block types.
[>>-i>] Arenas [>>-i>]
Simple team versus team combat, set in unique and creative environments. Knock your opponents off precarious platforms into a lava pit, stalk each other in dark caverns or battle gladiator-style in front of an eager crowd!
Capture the Flag
If our coders can make it work, we may try to make some sort of ctf game, perhaps using the yellow and green records as flags. Perhaps a column of colored blocks would follow the flag carrier.
Racing
Various types of races, from boat rallies to obstacle courses.
I nearly died of happiness when I saw that citadel. That thing is simply amazing. Did you make it by hand? If so, then you and your friends must have died dozens of times making that thing. Seriously, I made something an eighth of that size, and I died ten times.
Maybe make some new weapons or special rare items like spellbooks or mini spiders in cages for trade? The trade system would be boring without extra new items in my mind.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Santa gave me a chest full of coal. However, thanks to undergroud preasure, in 10,000 years, I have a ton of diamonds!.
Symbols are the key to telepathy. The mind wraps its secrets in symbols; when we discover the symbols that shape our enemy's thought, we can penetrate the vault of his mind.

Actually, we are.
We're about to resume work on the map and the mods. Haven't been very productive the past month, but things will get rolling again soon enough.
Hi! I would also like to work as an architect on this project! Looking great so far, but are there any qualifications of any sort needed to apply? 'Cause i'm not too sure whether im good enough :sad.gif:

Mob Madness
Creeper baiting, mob arena, speed milking, sheep sheering, pig rodeo, skeleton range... Lots of fun, unethical treatment of animals!
Also this looks like it will be an awesome project..server thing when done.
Can't wait for release!
(Get people like ScottyDoesKnow and DrZHark. They know their mods! (Edit:Forgot Risugami, ayutashi and 303)
