I came to post how I couldn't get this to run and kept getting crashes. BUT NO! It was higherclouds halloween causing it. Process of elimination wins again!
I really like this mod and setting biome size to 15 ( 10x default ) really seems to clean up the place. You have to travel a bit if you want to ski or visit the desert. I like that. Gives me a reason to build a boat or lay some track.
Thanks a lot for this! Very nice combination of functionality! Dry deserts are a really nice bonus.
This is my favorite mod... but one issue, and sorry for repeating, cause it's kinda important to me and it hurts to not use it because I've created some stuff dependent on using buttons... did you fix it yet? Can you tell us when you do?

Hey could you make a version of this that is compatible with Cadde's Ore Veins mod? I really like having my flat bedrock layer and less but larger ore veins.

I'll take a look, but it's gonna be tough, as we're not only working in the same classes, but probably in the same spots in the code... I'll take a look, but it won't be for a day or two.
Question: if I enable biome-specific trees, will my existing maps be recalculated entirely or will it only apply on newly-generated chunks?
Always new chunks only. If you want it to be rerun, you can either delete chunks you haven't built in, using a tool like MapDeleter, or you can kill the whole world# folder, saving your level.dat file... if you leave just the level.dat, it will recreate the same world, just no buildings, etc... using the new setup.
Out of curiousity, what sorta trees are we talking specific to each of the biomes?
I ask because I currently have my foliage.png with some cherry trees in the seasonal area, and while I'll happily move them somewhere else, I'm just curious if I'll need to because you put pine trees or something in the seasonal area.

I should imagine it's the safeties section obviously causing it. Probably. Maybe also the hellblocks in the real world. *shrugs* Maybe it would be as simple as releasing an alternate version of the mod that drops those two features?
Can someone give me instructions on how to use this mod. I'm not really all that comp savy. I got the mod in the .jar like normal but how to I "activate it'?

I agree, I would much more prefer a version without the Hellblocks, Mud, or Safties, and such a version would likely not conflict with the Ore Veins Mod.
Also, now I REALLY want to make a windwaker style map.
Actually I want one that has the mud for swamps and remove safties features with all the other features, and be able to have less but larger ore veins from Cadde's mod.
Should the mapgen.properties already be there, or should I add it myself?
Nevermind- it didn't work.
I'll try resetting my minecraft.jar and try again. :3
If it's still not working (or for others who may be confused), here's how I did it:
1. Move the contents from terraintweakersp.jar to minecraft.jar.
2. Delete MOJANG_C.DSA and MOJANG_C.SF from minecraft.jar/META-INF.
3. Run Minecraft.
Running the game created the mapgen.properties file. I then closed the game, edited the file, and started it back up again -- but I dunno if closing the game is necessary.
Looks like a great mod, but i have one question though,
What program do i need to edit those .txt files for it?
WinRAR?
Because i can't unzip it with 7zip, and i'm on windows 7.
NOW whenever I try to run it, the game won't work once I install the mod.
D:
Let me restate that.
After I do all the things listed in the installation, when I try to play Minecraft, in-browser OR in the program (I can't play it in-program most of the time, but I wanted to see if I had the same problem there as well), then the first time after installation, it will do the Java loading screen for a second or two, and then a loading screen, and then the screen goes black. At this point, if I open another tab or window over it, then whatever was over that window will get caught in the space, meaning it's probably not loading.
Any time I refresh the page, click "In Browser" on the main page, or try and use the download version, then there will be a white flash for about a second, and go back to being black.
Deleting the "version" file in .minecraft\bin will reset minecraft.jar and fix this, so I know it's this mod- that and the fact that I don't have any other mods downloaded at the moment.
Very nice work, it creates some realistic deserts. When using on existing maps it does display some weird behavior (seen below at the desert edge), although I think this is an issue with Minecraft's default chunk generator code, and not anything added by this mod.
Ok, I gotta ask. Any chance this kind of thing can be done for multiplayer server? Once the game reaches beta, I would LOVE to start my SMP server over with some of these tweaks, they are the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
"Conflict with" != "Support"
Huh. I guess I'll try it, then.

I mentioned it at Minecrafter -- hope that's okay.
