This is still very alpha. You can now steer the pig when you ride it (need saddle obviously). You can also make the pig jump using the Jump key. Pig model rotation and animation is off though. Enjoy.
* Pig doesn't swim very well now (use boat instead)
* Jump speed fixed
* Navigation improved. Still work in progress.
* Craftable saddles:
Where 'X' is leather. It is like an upside down version of the leather helmet.
The next update to Minecraft will disable this mod. Sorry.
Back up your minecraft.jar file. You need to open the minecraft.jar file using a zip utility like 7-zip, WinRar, Winzip. Copy and replace with the files in the zip file below. Remove all files in the META-INF folder except MANIFEST.MF (there should only be two files to delete).
could you make a mod so that the saddle drops when the pig is killed or hit with mouse 1?
I've been debating this. I originally had it doing that but removed it when I set up Saddle crafting. It makes sense that it should be dropped when the pig dies. When I make my next attempt at trying to improve pig handling I may put it back in.
I'm trying to add my own custom crafting recipes, how have you recompiled dw.class?

Minecraft Man: Squeeze blocks into a wooden box with his bare hands until it's 200 times denser than the core of the sun, paint a large picture in less than one second with his bare hands, punch a sheep so hard his wool flies off.
This is pretty cool, the damn Pig's just don't seem to want to obey me all that well. I think I'm going to have to teach them a little.. *takes out whip*
But yeah, this is pretty cool - especially for all of us minecrafters who'd like to see controllable mounts in this game. Once you master the navigation thingamajingies, this'll be awesome - until Notch implements official ridable mobs, whether they be pigs or dragons.
