I used MineEdit to swap out blocks, and it seems that It always crashes whenever I try to convert something common to something else. Can someone help me and show me how to load the map WITHOUT it crashing?

Oh, People and their Heroine Herobrine Addictions..
i do the following things to make it not crash
1. save and quit and THEN shut down fullscreen so if it crashes my save is safe
2. not using programs on it without having a backup
3. not using map editors... ever....
4. not doing dangerous things such as force closing minecraft

What Editing Program should I use to convert all the blocks on the map into something?
MCEdit is a very good one, I've never received a crash while using it, but it is an EXTERNAL editor. Like niels says, always make a backup(Extra copy) of Your world before opening it in an editor, just in case something goes wrong. MCEdit works with all vanilla blocks, just be warned if You try using it in a modded world that adds any blocks to the world(LIke ores etc) they will most likely be gone (or have changed into something vanilla) upon re-loading the world.
