Hello people I need to know how to make a 1.6.4 forge mod for minecraft.
not to advance... just adding blocks, items, weapons. So if you know how to make any
of those three things plz post.
Please do not post videos. I want to know (and maybe some other ppl too)
word by word!
Hey, here's some great tutorials by my friend MrrGingerNinja. Click me to go there. Be sure to watch them in order. Also, there's a "mapping & modding tutorials" section of the forum where you can see tutorials by other people as well.
You could start by reading the official Forge tutorials here. Those are just the beginner tutorials, and once you complete those if you wish to carry on creating more advanced mods there are more tutorials available, which you can view here.
The others have linked to some decent tutorials but I thought it may be worth sharing some tips and info that you may or may not know. The majority of these tips will make sense once you actually get started with the tutorials above.
1) Never use uppercase letters in your package names. Package names are essentially folders that will hold your code. Packages are set in the top of a java file and normally look something like this. package yourname.yourmod;
2) Use camel case. Camel case is a typing convention that is used when putting two or more words together. For example if you were making a diamond ingot you may call it something like DiamondIngot however that is not propper naming conventions and may cause problems later on. diamondIngot would be more appropriate. (This tip should not be used for class names or package names)
3) Most tutorials for 1.6.2 will still work for 1.6.4 with the exception of tutorials regarding worldgen. This is primarily important because a lot of tutorials use 1.6.x or 1.6.2 rather than 1.6.4 for the version number.
If you ever need help you can hang out in the #MinecraftForgeTuts irc channel on the Esper network. This channel is for mod devs and is a general hangout spot for them. There are a lot of cool and experience people in their that will likely be able to help you with any problems you may get.
