This mod is awesome! This is a perfect alternative for matmos. (Almost...)
But it will be really perfect if you remove the sound of crickets. Cause it is REALLY annoying! OR you should make a way to make it editable in the config file. I will be very glad. And again: Great mod!
Keep up the good work.
You can do that, you can change the volume of each sound inside the config file.
No, I can't. I only want to turn down the volume of the crickets. But, in the config file, I see only volumes for biomes, and areas. I only hate the sound of crickets. xD

Each biome has it's own sound file, there are no separated sound files for each sound effect.
Ok, so... Instead of turning down one specific volume, you can change the audio file to one more............... pleasant.
I took the liberty of doing this in my modpack, but I will not use it until you give me a permission. Cause I'm making a modpack.
I changed the audio files for plains, savanna and swampland (cause they are almost the same), and right now, while I'm writing this, I'm playing in my test world and it is working pretty fine with the new archives. If you want, I can make the upload for you, so you can use them.

Sounds quite cool, i would love to listen to it. So yes it would be very cool if you could upload it.
Sorry, but those files do not reach the audio quality the others have, but you motivated me to rewrite this mod. I will try to come up with a new concept for this mod, which will allow to configure each sound effect separately. Hope i can finish it any time soon (maybe 1-2 weeks).

That would be an amazing addition to an already amazing mod.
Hello, I love the mod so far, its a great addition to the game (:
I'm throwing together a modpack and I'd like to make a few adjustments to make the mod more ascetically compatible with the rest of the mods im using. im comparison the sounds in this mod are a little overpowering compared to all the other mods, id like your permission to edit the existing volume sound files (i know i can edit this in the config. but i would like the sounds to not rely on the config files. it means less work for the users), it would also be convince if I could remove some of the files that are duplicates with the other mods I am using. and lastly I would also greatly appreciate permission to add in an extra cave sound variation. (and maybe some others if i come across them)
I am not asking for any assistance, maintenance, or support. I can accomplish what i need on my own. i just thought i should ask for permission
and I also have no intention of taking credit for your work.
Also i noticed it looked like you were accepting help from InterPlay02, if you would like. i can send you the royalty free cave sounds Ive been looking at
PS just a reminder to add the 1.11 tag to the post

I'm currently rewriting AmbientSounds from scratch and the new version will change everything. The whole system will be loaded from a json file which can be replaced by a resourcepack. So you will be able to configure everything one your own. Unfortunately it takes a lot longer than i expected, but it will also allow you to change the volume of crickets, birds etc. separately. I hope you can stay patient, maybe i can release a pre-release the next days.

Very cool! If possible you could also make it compatible with SoundPhysics. These mods work totally fine together in the current state, but you could make use of its engine.

So which biomes make the cricket noises? Because I want to disable them in the config because I love what this mod does to the other biomes but it literally hurts to hear those cricket chirps and I just cannot use it with those anymore.
You can try out the newest pre-release of v2.0.0, there you can configure all sounds separately (inside assets/ambientsounds/engine.json).
Will you be back porting your latest release with separate sound configs to 1.10.2 at all? I love this mod but some of the sounds I feel are a bit too much for me and I'm not quite ready to make the jump to 1.11 given that some of my favorite mods are not 1.11 compatible yet.

the plains and savanna sound is very natural, but seriously i get headaches. can you maybe use another sound for those?
I replaced the sounds. Still I would think that many people would dislike to hear 24/7 a chirping sound

Awesome mod! Thank you for all the work you put into it!

You can play the sounds at specific locations.
I will think about that, but i'm not sure if this works out.
