Atum is a dimension mod that opens up a whole new desert dimension that contains an eternal world full of sand, temples, and tons of new foes. Journey into Atum and discover ancient artifacts as you battle your way through vicious new enemies!
Atum is not for the faint of heart! Bring your best armor, weapon, and food/torches before you embark!
Traveling to Atum
To travel to Atum, you must construct a Jeweled Scarab as an offering to the gods, only the finest materials in the overworld will do.
The Portal is a two layers 5x5, the upper one is a "donut" with a 3x3 hole in the middle, with the corners being 2 tall pillars, all made of sandstone or limestone. Right click the centerpiece with a scarab to open it. The Denizens of Atum
Brigands
Spread throughout the desert and armed with scimitars, they want whatever you're carrying and will stop at nothing to steal it!
Nomads
Armed with deadly bows, Nomads will unleash a hail of pain on you from a distance! Some of them will even have enchanted bows!
Mummy
The cursed of Anubis! Those who fail judgement are damned to walk Atum as mummies! They are weak to fire but will run faster if ignited!
Forsaken
Angry bones refuse to stay dead and in their jealousy of your flesh hunt you to the ends of Atum!
Wraiths
Cursed souls that wonder Atum, they are quick and relentless and often travel in packs. Beware their deadly curses!
Tombguard
Ancient stone soldiers that were awakened for defending their long dead masters. They are nearly impervious to damage.
Pharaoh
The ancient masters of Atum, thousands of years ago they were buried beneath these sands and now awaken to wreak havoc upon its inhabitants!
The Dungeons of Atum
Ruins and Pyramids dot the landscape of Atum! Search through long forgotten ruins to plunder their riches, and try to find your way through the twisting tunnels inside of the ancient pyramids to find their glorious artifacts!
The Artifacts of Atum
Throughout Atum are spread gifts from the gods, formerly the equipment of ancient heroes that were blessed in their attempts to save Atum but failed, they are now yours to obtain! Each one bestows a powerful boon to the wearer!
(The armor has a proper 3D render texture too!)

FAQ
What is Forge?
Forge is an API that allows us to do much more when creating mods. It is required for Atum to run. You can find the latest version of Forge here.
Why haven't you updated to X?!/You should update to X!

@eratonysiad: i just noticed your Profile pic. I salute you, fellow DLWMG reader!
on a separate note: I already posted this to the old atum page before I noticed the "we're using a new thread" message:
Just letting you know that your swords are wrong. The two swords from this mod (the brigand's sword and the pharaoh's sword) are a scimitar and a broadsword, respectively. But if you're going for an ancient Egyptian feel, then the sword you'll want is a slightly lesser known sword called a khopesh (here's a link to the Wikipedia page. The pic isn't all that good though, so just look it up on google images: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khopesh ). Another weapon you may want to include is the simple metal staff, a surprisingly common weapon of ancient Egypt (or at least it's gods). If you don't wanna get rid of the sword textures you've already made, then maybe make them separate weapons. Perhaps make an add-on for the mod that let's you make and upgrade the weapons in tinkerer's construct, and adds more ores to atum. Another thing you could do is make a different add on that adds more... Egyptian-esque magic to ars magica 2 and/or thaumcraft, such as transforming your staff into anything from a pillar of fire to some kind of guardian animal (I admit to the Kane chronicles having some influence on my ideas here). Another idea would be to have a more... Historically and/or mythologically accurate version of the mod. These are-with the exception of the sword correction-just ideas, I'm not saying "I demand you put this here, NOW!" and I admit I know virtually nothing of modding. I'm just giving ideas/suggestions as to how I think the mod might be made better (even though it's already pretty good now).
I have the same issue as dimon04, when a Pharaoh is summoned, my server crashes. Now the players that log on who opened the chest crash the server by logging on. Any solutions?

I salute thee too, fellow MMNINJ reader.
Whilst yes, the mod is Egypt-themed, you shouldn't prioritize realism in Minecraft. We've got creepers. Though we could add a bandit with a Khopesh. Though, not in the next version.

and on the realism front, that's why I thought up the seperate versions idea. Not trying to sound dickish, but not everyone may see it like that. They may like certain aspects to be more realistic/accurate. That's why we have the fossils & archeology revival. Originally the brachiosaurus was like 70 blocks high. Same with the spinosaurus and tyrannosaurus. in addition to being horribly innacurate, this also led to them getting stuck in absolutely EVERYTHING. Now, the porportions not only increase accuracy, but they also increase convenience.
The general feel of Atum wasn't planned to be directly Egyptian, the influence includes Egyptian, North African, and Mesopotamian influences. The actual kingdom itself was Egyptian, but the bandits and eventually the villagers, were going to have a more traditional Arabian/North African feel.
Hence why Bandits use Scimitars and not Khopesh. The Empire in the world fell long ago, what remains is the many peoples from this world that have moved into the area since.

Thanks for reporting the crash,
it have been fixed, the newer version will be up soon
I'm having issues with some of the armor:
Ras' Glory (It doesn't give night vision or let me see farther in Atum)
Sekhmets' Wrath (Not providing protection against fire)
Horus' Flight (Not giving increased jump height or protection from fall damage)
Isis' Embrace (Not giving regeneration)
Thanks for all of your help.
Also, I've flipped shovel textures for Tinker's Construct and ExtraTiC for a more realistic-looking animation, check here: http://www.minecraft...hovel-textures/

Greetings, I would like to commend you on a great mod. I also use aquaculture along with quite a few other mods. I notice a poster mentioned having issues with twilight forest mobs spawning in Alum (MC v 1.7.10). I have not noticed this issue myself. I have a couple of issues that I have been experiencing since installing this mod. The only mobs that I have found in this dimension are a few randomly spawned wolves and the pharaohs in the pyramids. No bandits, nomads, stone soldiers, nada....I am hoping this is an easy fix as I look forward to engaging these mobs. The other issue has to with textures on the jewelry items. They state silver, ruby, diamond etc.. but the appearance is that of wood, or dirty as I have been reading. I did cheat myself a few of the items for display purposes and all of the textures are as they should be but the ones from loot in survival mode are all plain / wood-like.
I am wondering if the above issue have something to do with the amount of mods I have running. 23 at last count with a couple on standby. Pam's harvest mods add a ton of ids to the game as well as MoC. Could one or both of these cause the low spawn rate from Alum? I also use Archimedes' airship mod, which is awesome in Alum for traversing large patches of desert in no time . oceancraft is another and it seems to play nicely with aquaculture the others. I am a total noob when it comes to config settings and I really do not want to mess up my game, our world that has taken countless hours of playtime to create, thus I avoid making any text changes. Any advice on optimizing my game play with these mods is appreciated.
Again, kudos and diamonds for this and aquaculture..I am trying to talk my wife into trying out metallurgy next...all mods must pass her seal of approval..lol how do you think I stayed married for 22 years.
Anyways, keep up the fantastic work, I look forward to new updates and more great work from your team.

As for the dirty things, have you tried throwing them in a puddle of water?
As far as the mobs not spawning, you could hop on to IRC on #Metallurgy, though Glassy has been really busy with work lately, so he might not respond.
Hahah, brilliant.
Thanks!
I like seeing all the activity this mod is getting. Right now I am focusing on going through a Catacombs from Gravestones Mod to get a Nether Star and I might pop into the Atum to harvest the wraiths for ectoplasm. Also want to take a look at what it looks like. Keep it up.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I read about the water in an earlier post but for some reason, I thought it was a gag. I will try it out in a few. I actually went into my config files and turned the vanilla spawn rates way down on many mobs. hopefully that will fix it..i would hate to have to change configs on each mod I have...jeeze, that would make it almost like work instead of gaming.
Another issue that caught my attention is the block issue. Some blocks break apart like netherack mined with diamond pick axe but the large limestone brick blocks are indestructible...sometimes. I was in the Atum..A -TEE- U- M ( sorry for my frequent misspelling..guess I had Alum Creek on my mind while reading it) and I was able to break apart the limestone large bricks on a pyramid at 8 levels from the top and enter the pharaoh's chamber without havingto dodge fire. I beat the pharaoh and his mummies quite easily using an enchanted neptunium sword( +15 attack, knockback II, sharpnessIV and unbreaking III ). Did I mention I love the neptunium items from Aquaculture Anyway, I digress... After I defeated the first boss, I went to another pyramid close by and repeated the same process and with same results ( both bosses dropped some nice loot items). I told my wife about it and she joined my on our LAN server and could not break any limestone large bricks. What was crazier, I could no longer break them apart either. So I had to guide her through the maze..I found an easy way to do that as well, and helped her defeat the boss and minions. I have not logged into our world yet today to see if this issues persists, but is is something I wanted to pass along. Sorry for my rambling, I am only on my first cup of coffee and have not hit the pipe yet today...all will be right in a matter of minutes....

update: just threw a bunch of jewelry items into my swimming pool and they all came out nice and shiny..thank you for the info.
update on block issue: I was able to break into the first two pyramids I happened across but once I got to the third, the large limestone bricks were indestructible. I am curious, does this have to do with a pyramid being totally excavated vs. partially buried? The first two I broke into were totally exposed while the next few were in different stages of burial.

Not to derail the happy news completely, but does this mean you'll be going back to finally finish the extratic update now?

on a separate note: I already posted this to the old atum page before I noticed the "we're using a new thread" message:
I salute thee too, fellow MMNINJ reader.
Whilst yes, the mod is Egypt-themed, you shouldn't prioritize realism in Minecraft. We've got creepers. Though we could add a bandit with a Khopesh. Though, not in the next version.
Lemme hug miia! Lemme hug her! She's too cute to not hug! If your an mg fan, this may be interesting for you: http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Mamono contact me here: http://dragonrider364.deviantart.com/ and tell me what you think. Who knows, may even give you some ideas. It did for the guy who made the grimore of Gaia mod ;).
and on the realism front, that's why I thought up the seperate versions idea.
Hence why Bandits use Scimitars and not Khopesh. The Empire in the world fell long ago, what remains is the many peoples from this world that have moved into the area since.

Thanks for reporting the crash,
it have been fixed, the newer version will be up soon
Twitter:@JeanGlassmaker
version 0.6.57 is up on curse.
Change log:
- Fixes server side crash when spawning the Pharaoh.
- Fixes Atum's Desert biome name.
- Changes palace spawning rarity from 1 in 320 chunks, to 1 in 1000 chunks.
Twitter:@JeanGlassmaker
Ras' Glory (It doesn't give night vision or let me see farther in Atum)
Sekhmets' Wrath (Not providing protection against fire)
Horus' Flight (Not giving increased jump height or protection from fall damage)
Isis' Embrace (Not giving regeneration)
Thanks for all of your help.
Also, I've flipped shovel textures for Tinker's Construct and ExtraTiC for a more realistic-looking animation, check here:

Thanks!
