Hello Mowzies! you probably do not know me and never will, but after seeing the chief Barako expansion I was brimming with Suggestions and ideas for the barakoa and it's unnamed jungle enemies.
IDEAS #1: BLUE SKINNED JUNGLE TRIBE
The unnamed jungle tribe are the opposites to the barakoa right? So to oppose the warm reds and oranges of the barakoa's tribe, how about some darker blues and greens for the jungle tribes, this is the least fleshed out ideas(ironic considering it's about skin.) but I think it makes sense.
IDEAS #2 THE POWER OF THE MOON
Barako has the power of the sun, so logic dictates that the jungle tribe has the power of the power of the moon, so their chief is only fought at night, drops lunar beams that blind you, and has some sort of diamond moon mask. new tribe masks could be the mask of darkness that looks like a green owl and gives you knight vision and the mask of emptiness that gives you invisibility and looks like a very hollow pale man
IDEAS #3 TRIBAL SKY MOUNTS!
This is the best idea by far, it would add two new flying mobs that have a 40% chance of having a strange scrapwork leather saddle with gold/diamond studding respectively, and two barakoa or jungle men riding it, the first mob is..
THE BAKKARI [bah-ca-car-e]is barakoan for "sunbird"
APPEARANCE: this 3 block high and 4 block long bird has red, orange, and yellow feathers and roosts an tree's or mesa cliffs depending on where it lives .Its body resembles that of an eagles with a hooked pelican like beak, it has a bright crest of feathers on its head which makes it look like the sun. its tail is coated with a flammable liquid that, with the sun's glare, makes it so it can shoot balls of fire.
MOVES: the Bakkari, when ridden by barakoa or otherwise, fights long ranged and mainly shoots either three small blaze like fireballs, or one ghast like one.it can also use it's crest to burn and blind you with a barako like sun laser, but only as the player character is facing it(don't worry, it has a long signal animation). it's only other attack is what 's special, it's other attack is dive bombing the player and then swooping back up in a glorious display of animation. if it's with barakoan riders the barakoan's just shoot darts annoyingly at you, but hilariously you can knock them off in three hits with a goofy animation and yell sound effect, followed by the said barakoa spawning there and, usually, falling to their death ,
BEHAVIOR:whenever a Bakkari is not being ridden by a barakoa ,they will act neutral
Until provoked. They have many bird-like idles, such as cocking its head, ruffling its self and grooming, or craning its neck to look at the player, they love shiny things such as gold and will pick up any dropped gold. They curl up to sleep at night.
BREEDING & TAMING: Bakkaris have 3 ageing forms, Baby, Teen, And Adult. the babies are the ones that can be tamed with raw pork, beef, and mutton. They look like mostly featherless dodo bird's with redder skin and a single giant yellow feather. the teen's are a mix of the two, but when riding on it you can press p to shoot a blaze fireball with a cool down on it. meanwhile, when riding on an adult one, you can still shoot the small ones but for a longer cool down you can hold it for a Sun laser.
DROPS: red feather 70%( used in special armor that grants fire resistance while wearing the whole set..) raw chicken 60%gold nugget 60% and Bakkari head 20% ( decoration)
SPAWN: Savanna, Mesa,
THE PATOONAT unnamed jungle tribe for [Night Beast]
APPEARANCE: This Strange Giant Bat/mandril/Panther creature is the main mount of the jungle tribe. It is around the same height as the Bakkari and only spawns at night(goes to sleep like a bat during the day). This nocturnal omnivore will stalk the jungles looking for prey.A panther like body, claws, tail, ears, and eyes. A mandril like face, limbs, and err rear, and batlike wings, nose, and fangs.
MOVES: the patoonat is very agile, he can fly up or crouch and do a sort of ground pound on you, he can do fast claw swipes and has an attack like the kakkari where he jumps up and roars and causes stone, spikey stalactites(or is it mites?)that hurt you, this roar will also weaken you.
BEHAVIOR:much like the kakari, they are only angry in the wild until provoked, otherwise they will just lick themselves go out and hunt, or just kind of sniff around.
BREEDING & TAMING:you can tame a baby with chicken, raw rabbit, or melon slices, the patoonat kids look like black cat kittens, but with the the patoonat wings and face bits, the teens look like a mixes of the two and when you ride him he can use p to instantly rush to and attacking the closest enemy, and in adult form, hold it to summon a ring of spiky stone stalactites around you.
DROPS:70% Black fur(used in special armor that grants night vision while wearing the whole set) 40% cocoa bean 30% diamond nugget( works like gold nugget except for diamond) 20% patoonat head (decoration)

Your thinking is excellent! Unfortunately, some of these ideas contrast with my plans and intentions. It's generally a better idea to introduce entirely new mobs to me instead of playing off of ideas and plans already in place.
Alright, let's go through in order:
1. Yes! That's the plan.
2. Yes, I do plan to involve a lunar theme with the jungle tribe. However, masks are part of the Barakoa's theme; I have other design elements in mind for the jungle tribe. An item that grants night vision would be very appropriate!
3. It's a great mob design, but I don't feel like it works well with the Barakoa. The Barakoa don't feel advanced enough to me as a culture to warrant mounts, especially giant, powerful birds. A bigger issue is that this would add mini-boss level encounters across the savanna, which should be survivable early in a game. Perhaps a similar idea would be useful in a different setting?
4. I'm afraid the Patoonat doesn't appeal to me very much. The idea could use a bit more unity. It is a tooth-and-claw chimera for the jungle biome. Why, then, does it have earth magic? Additionally, it won't work well with my plans for the jungle tribe.
Thanks! now I can get to work on my next idea and OOH BOY IS IT A DOOZY! adding a lot of cool stuff in an area you might not have thought of, new mobs (just like 3 and a boss), new items, and a quest that will lead you to the darkest depths and epic loot(but not overpowered, it's mowsies mobs, not orespawn!) also you could just take the bakkari and make it a mesa only mob with no ties to barakoa. the patoonat....yeah I actually didn't really like him ether but I wanted someone for the jungle people

Are you planning on making it compatible with 13.20.0.2280+? Currently the JEI mod requires that forge version leaving me with no recipe mod if I want to get this mod (which I very much do).
Hey! It's me again.. From a while back on the forum.
Anywho, I have two requests for future mob abilities/ elements
the first is something I was interested in for quite some time when minecraft first came out.
It brings me back to the days when I first saw walking with dinosaurs, jurrasic park, and a load of other prehistory movies.
The concept I want to bring up about that is about a massive beast that has moving hitboxes, to implement the idea of defeating a giant beast by running inbetween its legs.
by that I mean like a 4 legged giant who's hitboxes move with the legs to allow the player to run underneath with a horse (shadow of the colossus anyone?)
And attempt to shoot the moving belly/ cut the ankles of the beast.
the giant would attempt to crush the player.
my second request is a mob that can only be defeated with time. (To be honest this might be a type of mob that only sounds good in your head)
an example of such is were you're fighting some sort of ork or minotaur or whatever and you must first break its shield.
the shield will splinter and leave you a small openig to inflict a lot of damage. (This could also be used to enrage the beast.)
another example, however is unlikely because you already made an ancient iron giant (but it might make more sense to be stone or crystal),
Is an animated warrior of stone or iron that must first have its outer layer destroyed(cracks and crumbles) so that you can actually damage it
Okay, I am back with about two new main ideas for some mobs. Considering the ideas I gave you before I feel were..kind of good, but I know you he good reasons for not using them. But these two, I feel, would be good.
I introduce to you, two mobs for the Mountain biome, The Bil'ly Goatus and the Capratas.
Bil'ly Goatus: Often called insane, barbaric and even demonic by some, this militaristic goat-men live in often crude villages in the mountains where they seek to test their fighting ability against other Bil'ly Goatus tribes or normal villagers. They often kidnap villagers or any other animal to sacrifice to their unknown gods.
Appearance: Bil'ly Goatus is about the same height as the player, a small bit wider due to their stocky but athletic builds They are goat men so that have the heads of a goat with bodies that seem more hardy at the top with it being wide, but as you do down, the body thins a bit, making the body look like an upside down, roundish triangle. The arms are bigger than the legs, the legs themselves being a bit small but the arms being at least twice as big as the players. They are seen as being shirtless but having a loincloth around the legs, going down the knees.
Abilities: The common Bil'ly Goatus is armed with a cleaver like sword with a shield that can block attacks but can also break over use. They attack by swiping their weapon at you and, if needed, can push you away with a shield bash attack. They can also use their goat horns to charge you. This does more damage than their other attacks but they can only go in a straight line when using it, a crucial weakness you can exploit.
Capratas, the war chief: The leaders of the Bil'ly Goatus villages, these insane warlords see to war against any they see as a true opponent. Having impressed their unknown gods, these battle hardened chiefs use both their mighty great swords and their unnatural magic abilities to destroy you.
Appearance: Capratas is taller than you by about two blocks and is much stockier than his smaller brethren. wearing crude armor on his arms and body, he is tougher than them as well. one of his horns is broken while the other is not. While the normal Bil'ly Goatus' fur is often black or ash coloured, the Capratas' fur is white with his horns being black. he also wears the knee length loincloth, this being red while while the smaller Goat men would wear green.
Abilities: Capratas is armed with a large great sword that he can wield with one hand. His first attack is a simple swipe of his greatsword, causing a fair bit of damage. His second is a charge attack like the other Bil'ly Goatus, if he hits a wall, he will become confused and dazed, this is a good chance to get a few extra hits in. His third attack causes him to shove his sword into the ground, causing dark green fire to erupt around him, protecting him in a small explosion that only harms and does not destroy the land. His final attack is that he slashes his sword twice, each swipe sending out a blast of the same dark green fire.
Don't worry!
The ideas aren't bad at all, but are a little plain. Though, I'm not sure that the fighting styles suit the mountain biome, though. There would be a lot of charging off of edges. I'll hang on to this for much later.
Are you planning on making it compatible with 13.20.0.2280+? Currently the JEI mod requires that forge version leaving me with no recipe mod if I want to get this mod (which I very much do).
Yes, I'm working on this.
In the meantime, have you tried running JEI with the earlier Forge version? Are there earlier JEI builds for the earlier Forge version?

Yup! Hi, GalacticStuff!
The first idea is something I have long wanted to see in Minecraft. Unfortunately, I can't envision how this would be possible with the way Minecraft handles mobs. It would take a lot of extra thinking, hacking, and programming to get working.
I'm not sure I understand your second idea. Aren't all mobs defeated with time? The examples you outlined seemed to describe a mob with a little extra health that, once depleted, changes something about its appearance.

That's actually what I was able to do. I saw a review and want to just say nice attention to detail. The little burn marks and the animations were so smooth, it showed your efforts.
So far I haven't run into any of them though. Hopefully I haven't messed up my mod installation with other mods, haha. Anyways, keep up the good work.

I actually just ran into this problem a few days ago myself as I tried installing Not Enough Items for the first time.
I fussed with it for a while but I found these versions seemed to work best for the recommended Forge build that Mowsie's mod is built to:
JEI: 4.3.1.260
And NEI if you happen to be using that too (because its picky too):
CodeChickenLib: 2.6.0.254
NEI: 2.2.0.216
He seems really neat, I'm a fairly new player to version 1.10/1.11 so finding all these new mods to make my experience entirely different from my 1.7.10 one Ought to be fun.
At the moment I'm aiming for a mostly vanilish feel, this will go nicely with bullseye, just a few fish, and animania. Keep up the good work.

Help save my poor eggs...you wouldn't just let them die would you?
so i was thinking, this mod has pokemon as a base theme and has some starcraft2, L.O.L. refrencessences
maybe add a templar mob in it (i thought of a lucario templar)
i also noticed that every mob is less than 2 blocks tall (exept for the ninetails) wich makes it a bit hard o hit them and if i use morph mod i'm never 2 blocks tall (as i'm used to)
these are just sujestion btw

Like this.
I don't now how to use them, how do I?
Thanks! now I can get to work on my next idea and OOH BOY IS IT A DOOZY! adding a lot of cool stuff in an area you might not have thought of, new mobs (just like 3 and a boss), new items, and a quest that will lead you to the darkest depths and epic loot(but not overpowered, it's mowsies mobs, not orespawn!) also you could just take the bakkari and make it a mesa only mob with no ties to barakoa. the patoonat....yeah I actually didn't really like him ether but I wanted someone for the jungle people
So I'm guessing that this mod is not stable for 1.11.2 at current? I've been trying to implement it in packs and I constantly get the same error message regarding an inability to set a texture
java.lang.IllegalStateException: texture not set

Check the OP in the Downloads section. It says "To play on 1.11.2, USE FORGE VERSION 13.20.0.2233 OR 13.20.0.2228".
As per the modpack policy, I'm commenting to share my intention of including this mod in my modpack Homestead. Much appreciate this quality mod.
Does anybody want some danmaku in this mod?
--They won't die...They will return...muhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu......--
Are you planning on making it compatible with 13.20.0.2280+?
(This could also be used to enrage the beast.)
another example, however is unlikely because you already made an ancient iron giant (but it might make more sense to be stone or crystal),
Is an animated warrior of stone or iron that must first have its outer layer destroyed(cracks and crumbles) so that you can actually damage it
~cheers
Don't worry!
The ideas aren't bad at all, but are a little plain. Though, I'm not sure that the fighting styles suit the mountain biome, though. There would be a lot of charging off of edges. I'll hang on to this for much later.
Keep up the good work.
so i was thinking, this mod has pokemon as a base theme and has some starcraft2, L.O.L. refrencessences
maybe add a templar mob in it (i thought of a lucario templar)
i also noticed that every mob is less than 2 blocks tall (exept for the ninetails) wich makes it a bit hard o hit them and if i use morph mod i'm never 2 blocks tall (as i'm used to)
these are just sujestion btw
