High Pressure Tanks (HPT, HPTanks) is a Minecraft mod that adds multiblock-tanks which can store fluids under high pressure.
The tanks are meant to be rather late-game content. However, as of right now they're not that advanced and more middle-game content.
But I am aiming towards adding a lot of customization, automation, control mechanics and integration with other mods.
Documentation
This documentation is accurate for HPTank v1.0.0 for Minecraft 1.6.4
For a more current documentation check out the new Wiki.
Energy
First a word about energy. There are some machines or blocks that use energy to function, but I don't implement a new energy system I just added support for MJ, EU and RF (Redstone Flux), so every block that needs power can be powered by eu cables, BC kinesis pipes or Thermal Expansion's energy conduits.
Every block that uses energy should also have in its GUI a red bar that shows the energy level and if you hover over it, it will give you a tooltip saying how much energy is stored (in MJ, EU and RF).
Now to the different energy amounts, I don't store the amount of energy as MJ, EU or RF. I just use my own scale and I have values that define how much energy one EU, one MJ or one RF is worth:
1 EU = 2 Energy
1 MJ = 5 Energy
1 RF = 0.5 Energy
High Pressure Tank
This tank is a multiblock and it stores fluids under high pressure. It is built with a frame of tank casings and the sides are filled with either tank glass or valves.
The casings can only be located in the frame.
The glass blocks and valves can only be located in the sides.
The dimensions of the tank can range from 3x3x3 to 15x15x15 and the structure doesn't have to be a perfect cube, it could also be 4 by 9 by 12.
Finally you put ONE control block anywhere in the frame.
Now shift-right click the control block with your wrench and a chat message should appear that the tank has formed with some information. Additionally the glass textures should connect.
If it failed to form the multiblock the message "Tank constructed incorrectly!!!" should appear.
Make sure that there are no blocks or entities (dropped items, animals etc.) inside the tank and that no block that can be used to build a multiblock tank is touching the structure.
The tank has an internal energy storage of 50'000, this coresponds to 10'000 MJ, 25'000 EU or 100'000 RF. This energy is needed to pressurize incoming fluids so only filling the tank will use energy namely 0.01 energy per millibucket (mB), which would be 0.002 MJ, 0.005 EU or 0.02 RF.
The capacity of the tank is defined by how many air blocks it contains, every air block adds 64 buckets to the capacity so a 3x3x3 tank has a capacity of 64 buckets and a 15x15x15 tank has a capacity of 140'608 buckets.
You can right click anywhere on the tank with either an empty or a filled bucket or any other fluid container that can be filled with the fluid in the tank or contains the same fluid as the tank. If the bucket is empty it will fill the bucket with fluid from the tank, if there is any and if the bucket is full it will try to fill the tank with the bucket's contents. The same can be done by placing the bucket into the left slot of the tank's GUI. NOTE: filling the tank with buckets doesn't use any energy.
Additionally it is highly blast resistant and pretty hard to mine so you'd better use an efficiency pick. Tank Casing
The Tank Casing's main purpose is to build the frame of the multiblock, it is also used in the recipes for the valve and the control block.
Tank Glass
The Tank Glass is the main material used in the sides of the multiblock, it has connected textures when the multiblock is formed. Its recipe requires 4 bullet-proof glass blocks which look exactly the same.
Tank Valve
The Tank Valve is the gateway between the tank and the world, it is the block that accepts and ejects fluids.
A valve can only output fluids if it is placed on a level where there is fluid so if you have a tank which is 4 blocks high (has 2 air blocks on top of each other) and it is a little bit less than half full only valves on the first layer can output. Note: the valve on bottom can always output and the valve on the top can never output.
If the valve is part of a formed multiblock and it is shift wrenched it toggles an orange frame around the middle, this means that the valve is now in auto-output mode. When the valve is in auto-output mode no fluids can enter that tank through it.
It will output up to 100mB per tick if possible.
Tank Control
The Tank Control is the most important part of the multiblock tank, it saves all the information about the multiblock and its contents. If you break your control block it retains all the information, however it will only be able to form the multiblock if it is placed down in the exact same multiblock (meaning same dimensions and same location) as before, otherwise if shift-wrenched it will give you a warning that it is not in the same spot and if you shift-wrench it again it will delete all its contents. Warning: be very carefull when handling control blocks that contain data, when the data is deleted there is no way of getting it back. So if you already got a warning and never moved the block since then, don't try and shift wrench it again, better first pick up the block and put it back down. This way the warning would appear again if you made a mistake.
Moving The Control Block
Ever felt the control block was in an inconvenient spot inside the tank, but the tank was already full of precious fluid? Now you can pick up the control block and put it somewhere else in the same tank without losing any fluid:
Just mine the control block. The tank should deform as usual. Note: if the tank was last reformed prior to version 1.0.0 RC 8, you should try reforming the tank with the control block in the same spot, before trying to move it.
Now place it somewhere else in the same tank. Make sure that the dimensions of the tank didn't change.
And lastly, just shift wrench the control block and in additon to the usual success chat message another one should appear saying that the control was moved successfully.
Worldgen
When creating a world with this mod installed it will generate three types of ores:
Copper
It is used in the machine block recipe and to make wires either by crafting or in the wiremill.
Default Worldgen configuration
Minimum Y spawning level: 32
Maximum Y spawning level: 60
Maximum vein size: 6
Veins generated per chunk: 8
Bauxite
It smelts into aluminium and is used to make circuits for now.
Default Worldgen configuration
Minimum Y spawning level: 32
Maximum Y spawning level: 68
Maximum vein size: 6
Veins generated per chunk: 6
Graphite
Graphite can only be used to smelt 16 items. It is also used to create graphene and Aggregated Diamond Nanorods (ANDR) two very strong materials.
Crafted together with two sticks you can make 8 torches:
Default Worldgen configuration
Minimum Y spawning level: 16
Maximum Y spawning level: 60
Maximum vein size: 4
Veins generated per chunk: 4
All the ingots can be used to craft their block versions, by filling a 3x3 crafting grid, just like any vanilla metal block.
And these blocks can also be used as beacon base:
Additionally mobs cannot spawn on these blocks.
Machines
The machines help you create important materials. As of now you can create fluid resin, copper wire and with the industrialization upgrade even IC2 Cables, but I plan to add a lot more machines to create things like circuits or building parts.
All the machines have an internal energy storage of 50'000, this coresponds to 10'000 MJ, 25'000 EU or 100'000 RF.
When you shift right click a machine with a wrench it will dismantle and drop all its items. When just shift wrenched the machine rotates around. Energy Usage
All the machines with "normal" processing use the same amount of energy per tick, namely 8. that would be 16 RF, 1.6 MJ or 4 EU. The only thing that varies from operation to operation, is the time it takes for it to complete. The more energy an item uses to get processed the longer it takes.
The energy usage can only change if speed upgrades are installed. The speed upgrade increases the speed of the production but it doesn't change the overall energy use per operation so the faster the operation, the more energy per tick it takes.
The way to calculate the time an item takes to be processed is by dividing its energy usage (on my energy scale) by 8 to get the amount of ticks and by dividing that by 20 you get the time in seconds. The additional calculations for the energy upgrades are described in the upgrade section.
If a machine doesn't follow those rules it will be noted in its description, but as of right now there aren't any machines that don't work like that.
Machine block
The machine block is the core part of every machine it provides a framework of functionality for all the machines based upon it, like energy storage.
Resin Extractor
The resin extractor scoops out all the resin out of spruce logs or rubber logs from other mods like IC2 or MFR, additionally IC2 sticky resin and MFR raw rubber can be used to create fluid resin.
The fluid is stored inside the internal tank and can be pumped out or auto ejected if the right upgrade is present
Recipes:
Spruce wood and everything with the OreDictionary-name "woodRubber" like the IC2 and MFR ones:
Resin Produced: 250mB
Energy Used: 2400
Processing time: 300 tick, 15 sec

Resin Produced: 500mB
Energy Used: 1600
Processing time: 200 tick, 10 sec
Wiremill
The wiremill cuts ingots into wire and also insulates them with the fluid resin in its internal tank.
The fluid resin can be either added by piping it in or right clicking the machine with a filled resin bucket. Recipes:

Energy Used: 1280
Processing time: 16 tick, 8 sec
Pump
The pump can transport fluids from one container to another. Place it by right clicking on the block you want to pump out of and the pump head should attach to that side. The head can also be moved by right clicking it with a wrench. The pump head is that flat arm that sticks out of the pump.
The other pointy arms are connectors they appear whenever the side is next to a block that can handle fluids. The head pumps fluid out of a block and the connectors pump it into other blocks.
The pump pumps by default 250mB per tick and ejects up to 100mB per side and tick (so max 500mB/t output).
The pump speed can be increased by adding speed upgrades, how the new speed can be calculated is described in the upgrade section.
It can also be used as a water generator: if the head is pointing at an infinite water spring it will pump 250mB/t water:
When a redstone signal is applied to the pump a red dot appears on the pump, this means that it is locked and it does neither pump nor eject fluid:
Bullet-proof Glass
Bullet-proof glass is, as the name says, bullet-proof (it is TNT-proof too). It also has connected textures. It is a purely decorative block and you need it to craft the tank glass.
Obsidian Bars
Obsidian Bars are a great way to decorate and defend your base at the same time, they work like iron bars but they're highly blast resistant and look really cool.
Items
Wrench
The wrench is used to form the multiblock-tank by shift-right clicking the control block and to dismantle the machines also by shift-right clicking.
It can also be used to dismantle IC2 (losslessly) and Thermal Expansion machines and every other machine that allows dismantling by BC wrenches.
If a mod like Project Red that adds either ruby, peridot or sapphire is installed then the wrench can also be crafted with those gems instead of the diamond or the emerald.
Copper Wire
Copper wires are used to craft circuit boards which are used a lot. In addition to this recipe copper wires can also be made in a wire mill, see detailed info above.
Circuit Board
As of now only this simple circuit exists, but more should be added in the future. It is used to craft anything that has some logic inside like the machine block or the control block
Internal Tank
Internal tanks are needed to craft any block that can store some fluid inside.
Energy Core
The energy core provides some basic energy storage functionality e.g. for machines. It uses bulletproof glass in its recipe(and not tank glass which looks exactly the same).
Obsidian Stick
A really strong stick that is nearly unbreakable.
Reinforced Bars
A mesh created using all the strong materials to reinforce it even more.
Graphene
Very strong and thin sheets, basically they're made up of just one layer of carbon atoms.
Cutter
Used to cut graphite into sheets (graphene), also used to extract rubber out of logs. They are a one time use item, but you get 32 per craft.
Graphite Bulk
Just graphite compressed together.
ADNR
Aggregated Diamond Nanorods are quite small but also extremely strong, by compressing down graphite bulk even more one stack of those rods get created.
If IC2 is installed they can also be created using an IC2 compressor
Upgrades
With upgrades you now can make your machines even faster and better. Upgrades can be installed by right clicking the block to upgrade with the upgrade in your hand.
All Upgrades need to be crafted with the Upgrade Plate:
Blocks that can accept upgrades, automatically have a new tab in their Gui, the upgrade tab.
The max stack size for upgrades is 16.
Gui Tabs examples
Resin Extractor:
Wire Mill:
High Pressure Tank:
Speed Upgrade
Actually one speed upgrade decreases the process time to 79.43% This should be fixed in the next update
The Speed upgrade makes machines and the pump operate faster. For machines the new process time is calculated like this:
newProcessTime = normalProcessTime * 0.794328^numberOfSpeedUpgrades
For the pump the amount of fluid pumped per tick is calculated this way:
newSpeed = normalSpeed / (0.794328^numberOfSpeedUpgrades)
The Speed upgrade has a limit of 16 upgrades, so you could reduce the operating time of a machine down to 2.5% of the original process time.
Accepted by Wire Mill, Resin Extractor and Pump.
Energy Storage Upgrade
A block with one or more energy upgrades applied will have its capacity increased by how many upgrades there are times the original capacity.
Accepted by Wire Mill, Resin Extractor and Tank Control.
Item Auto Ejection Upgrade
If a block has this upgrade installed it will automatically eject all the items in the output slot into the first available inventory.
Accepted by Wire Mill.
Fluid Auto Ejection Upgrade
If installed this upgrade will eject the internally stored fluid into blocks around it that can handle fluids.
Accepted by Resin Extractor.
Industrialization Upgrade
This is a cross mod integration upgrade, if it is installed in a machine,it will be able to produce IC2 items.
Accepted by Wire Mill, for Recipes read the Wire Mill's description.
Resin
Resin is a fluid created in a resin extractor from spruce wood or items from other mods. It is used to insulate wires in the wiremill. Also it flows very very slowly.
Mod Integration
This section is about all the specific support, I added for other mods and there is already quite some integration, but there will be lots more.
Forge Microblocks
A lot of HPT blocks can be cut into microblocks and be used to build fancy houses:
Machine Block
All the ores
All the metal blocks
All the tank components
Bullet-proof glass
Industrialcraft 2
There is a lot of support added for IC2. All the blocks that can accept power, can also use IC2's EUs. The IC2 wrench can rotate and dismantle losslessly all the blocks that can be dismantled by the HPT wrench. Also the other way around, the HPT wrench can losslessly dismantle the IC2 machines, though it cannot rotate them.
I also added some scrapbox loot:
Additionally ADNR can be created in a compressor two different ways:
And last but not least the Industrialization Upgrade makes it possible for the wire mill to produce all kinds of IC2 cables except glass fibre cables:
WAILA
A lot of my blocks now have a special WAILA tooltip showing some info about itself: High Pressure Tank
When inside a formed multi block tank all the components show info about the filling state of the tank. (Also try to shift while looking at a tank with fluid inside)
The Tank Control additionally show how much energy it has stored.
If in auto eject mode the valve adds the < Auto-Eject > tag to its name:
Wire Mill & Resin Extractor
The wire mill and the resin extractor display how much energy and fluid is stored.
Pump
Besides the fluid info, the pump also tells you, how much fluid it can pump per tick and whether it's locked or not.
Buildcraft
This feature was actually present in the first public version of HPT but I just forgot to mention it.
In addition to supporting MJ, I also added some BC gate triggers. Fluid Triggers
Some triggers, I added, fire depending on the fluid level. These triggers work with any block that can handle fluids.
Energy Triggers
Other triggers get activated depending on the energy storage. Energy triggers only work on HPT blocks that can accept power.
Ex Nihilo
When Ex Nihilo is installed alongside High Pressure Tanks you can get graphite by sieving gravel, it has the same chances of appearing as coal.
So now you can use the full potential of High Pressure Tanks in your Agrarian Skies World.
If you find any bugs in the mod please report them to the Bitbucket Issue Tracker.
If it's a crash bug please make sure that it is HPT's fault. If you find "patrick96.hptanks" (without quotes) in the stacktrace (or actually the whole crash log), then HPT is probably involved in the crash.
Only report bugs for the latest version of this mod for the Minecraft version you're using.
Please include the following information when reporting a bug:
Minecraft Version
Forge Version
Mod Version
Screenshots would help a lot if the bug is difficult to describe
For crashes:
Description on how to reproduce it.
ForgeModLoader-client-0.log from the minecraft directory. A public pastebin with no expiration is best.
If you have an idea for a new item/feature or you just have a proposal that something should be changed, you can either write that on here or on the Issue Tracker.
This mod doesn't really require any other mods, but it needs power, so you probably need at least one mod that can generate either EU or RF.
Since this mod is about automating fluids, it would be best to install it together with mods that add and/or use fluids.
Note: Make a backup of your world before you install or update this mod (any mod for this matter), just to be safe.
To install make sure the mod version matches the Minecraft version you are using or vice versa, install the latest version of Minecraft Forge for the Minecraft version you are using (Minecraft Forge Downloads, Installation Instructions).
This mod goes into the mod folder of your minecraft/forge installation.
Launch Minecraft and you're done.
The 1.7.10 version should be compatible with any of the 1.7 versions, but I haven't tested that
The 1.6.4 versions should also be compatible with Minecraft 1.6.2 (probably with any of the 1.6 versions, but I haven't tested that)

Looks pretty good. The only thing i might change is the storage capacity. Railcraft steel tanks are much cheaper to craft (iron and time basically) and use no energy while storing the same amount of liquid per block (wall not air). I do understand that the potential storage for these are greater for large tanks but the smaller ones store less liquid and are diamond/emerald expensive. I'll test it out and get back to you.
Another suggestion: any method of reforming a rubber object from liquid resin would be cool.
@Zandorum: glad you like it
@KingNXT: That's a bummer.
I 'm trying to make it epic, no promisses though. If you want me to take a look at your problem feel free to PM me
Thanks for fixing the server crash error, it appears to be working on the server now. Also if the biggest tank is 15x15x15 and only the air blocks are counted for space, wouldn't the capacity be 140,608 buckets not 212,625 buckets? Just asking because a 3x3x3 frame would only be a 1x1x1 air block and hold 64 buckets, where a 15x15x15 tank would have 13x13x13 air blocks being 140,608 buckets.
Two questions: Retrogen? And is Resin nether-proof?(as in can be placed in the nether and turns lava into obsidian)

No there is no retrogen, I have never looked into that but maybe I'll do that in a later version.
Yeah the resin can be placed in the nether and turns lava into obsidian, but it can also be turned into stone by lava. The part about turning lava into obsidian may be removed in the future though
Really like the concept of this mod. I do have a few questions.
1. Will the tanks hold any liquids registered with the fluid dictionary?
2. I'd like to suggest that you make inter-mod compatibility with IC2's copper wires, so say you have this and IC2, the wire machine from this mod can/will produce IC2 wires. You might also consider the ability to produce the other IC2 wires using your machines.
Thank you
1. Yes, all of them
2. Are you like reading my private TODO list or what?? That's exactly the thing I was planing to do. There will be an Industrialization Upgrade for the wire mill, with that it can create all the IC2 wires that use resin
I'm still working on it. I am actually really close to a release candidate. Depending on how much I have to work for school, it should get released in like 2 to 4 weeks
So I released the final 1.6.4 version like one and a half week ago and I started porting to 1.7.10 now, but I think the porting will take some time, because I got some errors I don't know how to fix yet and some mods I add support for aren't updated. I may actually just start developing for 1.7.2 and port it to 1.7.10 when it's not a pre release anymore. But stay tuned and just have fun with the current version

Only one suggestion I would like to make, is having tank capacity defined in the configuration file.
I had to do a side by side comparison of your tanks with railcraft iron and steel tanks, but both railcraft tanks held considerably more.
Iron tank 3x3x4: >150 buckets
HPT 3x3x4: 128 buckets
Then of course there are drums from extra utilities, 256 buckets per block space. The high pressure tank only won out when compared with openblock tanks (16 buckets), so to have this in a modpack with the aforementioned mods, all their tanks would have to be disabled to enforce players to use the high pressure tanks. I really like the idea of having to use fluid compression to store vast amounts of liquid, but with the alternatives, I don't think players will have any incentive to use these. So an option to increase their capacity in the configs, I feel, would help in making this mod a staple of popular modpacks, and it's a great mechanic that deserves some praise.
Thanks for the advice, this will be a feature in the first 1.7 version.
I was always worried about my tanks not being able to compete with the railcraft ones. And I was always putting off, rebalancing that and adding new features, that would allow the player to increase the capacity with some new hi-tech pressurizer (or something like that) or adding something that would make up for the smaller storage with some special automation feature. But I now realized that it's due time to do at least some of those things.
I did the math again and realized that not even the 7x7x7 tanks could compete with the 7x7x7 steel tanks, so I am going to bump up the default storage per air block to 128 buckets, because I was planning on my tanks being used for your middle to late game fluid storage and also automation and if even the 7x7x7 tank couldn't compete with the max size steel tank then my mod would be quite redundant

I'll admit that I was a bit taken aback when I did the comparisons. Doesn't seem right that for as easy as it is to make iron tanks, that they could have such a massive capacity. I really think that your mod adds a fantastic mechanic to fluid storage, most other mods hardly feel as if you have any involvement with the function, design, or operation of their tanks and machines. I will be looking forward to using this in 1.7!
Yeah, I was quite shocked too, I wondered how I could have missed that flaw with the capacities. As I said before I want my tanks to outrun the others in the late game and in bigger sizes and it really surprised me that I hadn't done the math before or at least not properly.
The 1.7 port is already done, I'm now working on adding the above mentioned features. I'm still waiting for WAILA to update to 1.7.10 but maybe I'll have to ship the mod w/o.
Unfortunately I'm quite busy with school, so I don't know how long those features are going to take and I may end up leaving some out, so that I can at least give you a 1.7 version.
I'll try to keep you posted on my progress either on here or on my twitter (@Patrick96MC)

Copper
It is used in the machine block recipe and to make wires either by crafting or in the wiremill.Default Worldgen configuration
Bauxite
It smelts into aluminium and is used to make circuits for now.Default Worldgen configuration
Graphite
Graphite can only be used to smelt 16 items. It is also used to create graphene and Aggregated Diamond Nanorods (ANDR) two very strong materials.Crafted together with two sticks you can make 8 torches:
Default Worldgen configuration
The machine block is the core part of every machine it provides a framework of functionality for all the machines based upon it, like energy storage.
Recipes:
The wiremill cuts ingots into wire and also insulates them with the fluid resin in its internal tank.
The fluid resin can be either added by piping it in or right clicking the machine with a filled resin bucket.
Recipes:
Recipes with industrialization uprade installed:
For machines the new process time is calculated like this:
newProcessTime = normalProcessTime * 0.794328^numberOfSpeedUpgrades
For the pump the amount of fluid pumped per tick is calculated this way:
newSpeed = normalSpeed / (0.794328^numberOfSpeedUpgrades)
WAILA
A lot of my blocks now have a special WAILA tooltip showing some info about itself:
High Pressure Tank
When inside a formed multi block tank all the components show info about the filling state of the tank. (Also try to shift while looking at a tank with fluid inside)
The Tank Control additionally show how much energy it has stored.
If in auto eject mode the valve adds the < Auto-Eject > tag to its name:
Wire Mill & Resin Extractor
The wire mill and the resin extractor display how much energy and fluid is stored.
Pump
Video(s)
Dani made a review for it. Thanks man

Dependencies
