My goal is to make installing my mod a completely painless process. The mod comes with an installer. Simply double click on the downloaded file, and select a profile to install it into. You can select a vanilla profile, a modded profile, a forge profile, or even a LiteLoader profile! Manual install instructions are below.
Note: if you double click on the installer, and it opens in WinRAR (or similar program), you will need to right click on the downloaded file, and go to Open with -> Java(TM) Platform SE binary
Forge
You can manually install it with Forge by placing the .jar file into your mods folder.
LiteLoader
Same as Forge except for it to work with LiteLoader, you must place it into a versioned mods folder
(e.g. .minecraft/mods/1.8.1/XRay.jar).
Technic
To install XRay in Technic, navigate to the folder Technic is installed in. The default is .technic located in the same location your .minecraft folder is at. Inside this folder will be another folder named modpacks, and inside that will be a folder for each modpack you have installed. (e.g. .technic\modpacks\tekkitmain). Finally, inside this folder will be a folder called mods, place the XRay .jar file into this folder just as you would do a Forge mod.
If you run into a compatibility issue with something, let me know so I can find a way to make it work!

Blocks
Important: there is a file located at: .minecraft/config/XRay3/Block Dump.txt. This is a block dump containing names of all the available blocks - use this as a reference.
Important: you have to restart your game for XRay to see any new profiles you make.
Each file in the Blocks folder corresponds with an XRay profile. Initially XRay will create three profiles: XRay.txt, Redstone.txt, and Cave Finder.txt. To create a new profile, just create a new text file in this directory. The name of the profile is the name of the file, minus the .txt part.
Each line in these 'profile files' corresponds with the name of a block. Use the block dump to get a list of all available blocks that you can use.
To make things easier, you could also choose to exclude the blocks listed in the file by adding !exclude to the top of the file. The default XRay config uses this feature.
... which will render everything except stone, cobblestone, grass, dirt, etc.
Additionally, you can use wildcards. To see an example, here is the default Redstone config:
I'll take the first line for example, *redstone*, this will match any block with "redstone" in its name. In this case, it will include all of the following:
The available options you can use in this file are:
{X}, {Y}, {Z} - XYZ coordinates {X1}, {Y1}, {Z1} - XYZ coordinates with 1 decimal. {X2}, {Y2}, {Z2} - XYZ coordinates with 2 decimals. {ChunkX}, {ChunkY}, {ChunkZ} - the location of the chunk you're in. {ChunkPosX}, {ChunkPosY}, {ChunkPosZ} - your location within the chunk. {FPS} - the FPS string. {Biome} - the current biome you're in. {BlockLight}, {SkyLight} - the block light and skylight levels. {Fly} - if fly is enabled, and your current fly speed.
Here's an example.
And here is the code I used in `Coords.txt` to make that:
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change a keybinding?
Keybindings can be configured in the Controls window in-game. (you may have to scroll down to find them)
How do I disable a feature?
Set its keybinding to NONE in the Controls window in-game. You can do this by clicking to set the keybinding as you normally would, and then press ESC.
How do I enable fly?
By default fly is disabled. Go into the Controls window in-game and set a keybinding for it. You can then press that keybinding to toggle fly on or off. Optionally, you can set a keybinding for the `Fly Speed +` and `Fly Speed -` keybindings if you would like to adjust your fly speed.
Is it compatible with OptiFine?
Yes, it should work flawlessly with OptiFine.
Will it break Redstone circuits?
Nope. My XRay mod works perfectly with Redstone.
Does it work on multiplayer?
It does. However, many servers prohibit the use of XRay mods, and you will most likely get banned if you're caught using one. If you want to use my coordinates mod, you can disable the XRay features in the Controls window in-game.
Can I have the .class files to install manually?
Because of how my mod works, there are no class files to distribute. However, I've designed the installer to work with most modding platforms available. If something isn't working for you, let me know and I'll be happy to help!
When i try to use it on my server, i cant see ores in my current chunk. I can only see ores far away. And when i get close to a ore, it suddenly pops up. Can someone help me?
I have had that issue for a while too but it usually happens the farther down I go towards the void, I think it MIGHT be due to a rendering issue with minecraft itself but don't quote me.
It would be minecraft:stained_hardened_clay:9, minecraft:stained_hardened_clay 9 or 159:9 but I don't think Ambient had a chance to find out why the additional data value (9) doesn't work. If you can live with all the colors (since this may be the only thing possible at this time) you can add minecraft:stained_hardened_clay and you will be able to see all stained clay variants in XRay.
I don't know if you've already fixed this or if you or someone else already discovered this but I found out that when you're in redstone mode, you can only see entities and chests and other not-full-blocks if there is a full block like a redstoneblock near it. that's also why people say that it does work with xray, that shows a lot more blocks, esspecially when in a survival games map or something like that because then there are a lot of blocks that are placed like different wood planks and slabs. So maybe this will help you and maybe not. I hope you'll fix this in the next update and I wish you luck with your finals!
Have you made sure that your Redstone.txt file is setup correctly because I have no problem with it. P.S. The spoiler is a quote
My redstone mode works perfectly. I am able to add or modify with no issues and I use this mode for specific blocks of interest since it is less cluttered then the full XRay.

Below is my redstone config if it helps you this is with for the newest one that is the one with the folder name xray3
Make sure you have the necessary MC version already downloaded, install the required Optifine version for the needed MC version, and then run the XRay jar and select the Optifine version that was created when it was installed.
Great mod man!!!
Can you add clay blocks, like different colors for example cyan stained clay. If you could do that this mod would be perfect.
You can do this by manually adding them in the XRay.txt file in config in .minecraft and if you dont' know the official name look in blocks dump.txt

I realize this isn't the purpose of this mod but on the co-ordinates display... village information would be nice.
At the bottom right of the screen, it keeps saying There is an update available for XRay!
Any help?
I tried that but the blocks aren't in the dump.txt and I tried typing in cyan_stained_clay and stained_clay but neither worked.
Did you copy and paste it from dump.txt because that has all the blocks in the offical name

Not sure what you are asking here? The title of the topic should make that clear. Did you have an issue with a particular version or something?
Any way you can use x-ray with optifine??
ok, so for the 1.8.1, and 1.8.3 versions... how do you install it? i use multiMC and it says there is no forge or liteloader for it yet
Make sure you have the necessary MC version already downloaded, install the required Optifine version for the needed MC version, and then run the XRay jar and select the Optifine version that was created when it was installed.
