Good guess but no. I thought that monsters might be reluctant to show up on Peaceful and switched it up to Easy mode to summon bosses. I had to dispatch a few nuisance zombies and skeletons and had a slime asphyxiate itself beneath my summoning platform so I'm sure I wasn't in Peaceful.
Tried again. Moved the whole setup to the ocean as per painter73's suggestion. Made sure I wasn't in peaceful. Went and beat on a few mobs while waiting for rain. Finally got rain and... nothing again. Here's a screenshot of my latest attempt:
So what's not right with this picture?
Should the boat and bucket be consumed? Or are they supposed to just bob there?
I did track one of the oddities down, not that it makes much more sense. If I open my compendium to the Water Guardian entry and then close it again the Water Guardian's boss bar pops up for about a second. Nothing else, just the health bar. So that's probably why I was seeing the health bar before while trying to summon the Water Guardian.
One notion comes to mind. I'm also using Dr. Zhark's Mo'Creatures which has a custom spawner. Do you know if this is likely to play merry hob with summoning AM2's bosses?

Sir, you did not indent the 4 middle blocks in the center, it has to be water instead of stone, THEN you will get your awesome water god of horribleness that will one shot you GL HF!
Mithion I want to say if you were made to an action hero I would have a poster of you and your epic mod creating magic up on my wall... I love you and your fellow creators because i have followed ars magica ever since it was first created... I have had many of an awesome time with your mod. And what i want to get around to Mithion is how I want you you keeping your awesome godly mod updated just for my pure enjoyment (and the enjoyment of others.. of course) , and i would like to know if you would want me to make any suggestions over what you could/might want 2 update in the mere future. Also, I just love your mod i refuse 2 update my minecraft for anything so please get back to me and tell me if you have updated it or are going update it. Thanks!
P.S.- I have failed to see or maybe have not noticed, but in offensive spells I have not noticed an EXPLOSION perk there and i think that would be a fairly godly thing to put in or somehow integrate it into the game, because I miss my ol' fireball.

Um, unless a secret update has happened that I don't know about, it's a 3X3 (It takes eight (8) redstone inlay to make, if that helps) setup is in an predominately water biome (Oceans, rivers, and swamps come to mind, but mods may add others), it's raining, and you throw the materials into the redstone circle (Make sure that it doesn't land on the Redstone inlay).
As for Speleomantes, I have some questions:
I don't really know anything about actually useful stuff, but what version are you using? That may help smarter people assist you. Also, what are those blue tools in your inventory? They look very pretty.

The setup you describe is exactly what I've got in the image that I posted. At the time of the posting the blasted thing was as useful as a rock as noted by the utter lack of Water Guardian in that image. I closed out of Minecraft, reloaded and "Voila!" boat and bucket are consumed and replaced by one grumpy Water Guardian. No idea what changed but it's been working fine ever since.
I'm running AM2 v 1.1.0 under Minecraft 1.6.4 using Forge 6.4.49.965

I said the actual dimensions of the Redstone inlay, as you'll see by my quoting of the User "ArcaneGod", to him, because he appeared to be under the impression that it was a 4 X 4 circle, with four blocks on the inside. I, though this may not have been obvious, for which I apologize, only directed my questions towards you near the end of my post, when I said "As for Speleomantes, I have some questions:". And you still never told me what mod those awesome tools came from. They're so blue. Nevermind, I completely forgot about checking the PM system thingy. Thank you for telling me.
Question - is there a list of code names of components somewhere? I'm playing around with /givespell and the names of several components - all the damage types and Starstrike in particular - are nonintuitive...
Also - do damage types stack? If I put Lightning and Frost on a single Projectile, will it do both lightning and frost damage, do lightning amount of damage that scales with both lightning and frost weaknesses, do only lightning...?
@Mithion: So, first, I want to say that this mod is awesome, playing around with custom spells is loads of fun! That being said - is there any way you could make it easier to make multiple copies of a spell? In much the same vein, it'd be really nice if the Spellbook could be Soulbound - I'm kind of tired of dropping all my hard-earned spells into lava.

Try the inscription table in creative mode if you want intuitive, there is a button that appears in the top left to make the spell after you leave the gui.

No damage types do not stack, it only applies the first occurrence of damage.

See above, you can soulbind with a book of the enchant and an anvil.
If my world suddenly crashes and closes and my level.dat files get deleted and I revert back to a backup so they get recreated, is there any way to recover my AM2 accomplishments? I get a reset Arcane Compendium and an occulus that I cannot understand... This seems to happen a lot.. Very lousy... Anyone?
OK, the silly Water Guardian was playing coy again and this time I think I've figured it out. It looks like there are two separate checks being made for game mode, one when the game is loaded and another at the moment of summoning.
If I load a game in Peaceful and then switch to Easy the summoning fails. Boat and bucket bob listlessly in the center of the summoning circle.
If I load a game in Easy then switch to Peaceful the summoning succeeds. The boat and bucket are consumed and a Water Guardian appears but only for an instant. Blink and it's gone.
If I load a game in Easy I can switch back and forth and so long as I'm not in Peaceful when summoning everything works as intended.
I'm using AM2 1.1.0. This may have already been fixed?
So I've been thinking.
How about instead of having you get thrown around in storms, instead you get a mild flight effect (like "levitation" or one of the early ones.), actually, you could keep that effect, but make it less and less pronounced as your affinity depth gets higher. This could be balanced by having a nausea (or blindness, if you want to be mean) effect when you spend too long under a certain depth or out of sight of the sky.
Fake Compendium entry: "The mage that is far along the path of Air may find that they can twist the powerful gusts of wind that occur during storms to their advantage, granting said mage a simple form of flight. More experienced mages can better control these currents, giving faster flight and less turbulence. However, an Air mage that has lost sight of the open sky can be sickened by the close walls or solid stone around them."
Or something along those lines.

So, air magi automatically get Claustrophobia? How about you get it if there aren't forty air blocks (Empty spaces) within a 50 X 50 X 50 space? This is because you'd still be surrounded by a whole ton of air, so you'd be fine. Your idea, on the whole, seems rather good, though. It'd be nice if that was implemented.
hey there mithion, or whoever else is answering this stuff. I know that bugs are supposed to go on github, but I do not want to have to deal with ANOTHER membership in a website. this one is enough, thanks. anyways, to get to the point, I found that after attempting to install the 16x texture pack you mentioned in the OP, it did not load my world. it simply is sitting on the loading screen. it has now been there for about ten minutes. I even tried removing the texture pack, rebooting the computer, nothing works. this is the second time I have almost lost this world upon installing a mod/trying something new. please, help. ARS magica version 1.1.2b. 28 other mods. no logs because .minecraft/logs does not exist. if the client output directly from .minecraft is what you want, that I can provide. thank you ahead of time for your assistance.

If you're not willing to report bugs in the right place, why would you expect a response to it from Mith?

I don't. I would like one, but I really am just asking for anyone who has possibly had this bug before, or has an idea of what may be causing it to help me. also, there are a myriad of other reasons I don't want to join github, which is the only way for me to post my problem that I know of. if you want I can list them, but I would rather not bother.
I suppose you could try copying your current world and putting it into a separate file (Perhaps labelled "World Saves for Glitches" or something), uninstalling AM 2, then try to reload the world. If it loads, then you'll lose all of your AM 2 stuff, but you'll have your world back. Then you can wait until you find out the problem with the Texture pack, and then reload the saved world with all of your stuff. I have no idea what's causing it, though.

pardon to bother you but, how can I change a potion id? I'm getting a conflict for AM2 haste potion (id 35) and I would like to change it.
Thank you so much for your time

The teaser or the next update looks absolutely AMAZING Mithion. You seem to have out done yourself again.

I believe that a few pages back someone said Keystone Doors were non-operational at the moment.
Also, did anyone look at the suggestion I had for Air affinity awhile back?
