You've awoken on this barren wasteland planet, a civilization once ruled and proud, but where is everyone? All the buildings are empty, nothing remains, all that can be seen is mass hordes in all directions of zombies, skeletons and other creatures never before seen. Inside isn't safe, Outside isn't safe, what will u do to survive this planet and escape? Can you survive the 1st day without death claiming you?
There is no natural light, when night time comes it's pitch black, no moon light and all that is heard is the scratching and moaning of whats around lurking to destroy you. Mining reveals unbeknownst horrors from the rocks just waiting to come out and devour your soul. Puddles of liquid blue or purple are not water, but also intent on harming you.
1: All AM2 recipes use oredict blue topaz, making GT's blue topaz work fine
2: Within GT's unification.cfg, every player manually set the unification target to true on the AM2 version of blue topaz and false in all other mod sections (Syntax should read something like AM2.gemBlueTopaz_false=true. The key is to only change the boolean after the equals sign, not both, and to also ensure that only one gemBlueTopaz is true in the whole config file.)
Oh, and a third solution:
3: Disable gregtech unification in GT's config files and don't process silk-touched Blue Topaz Ore with GT machines
I shall look @ #2 as the issue im having is When mining the blue topaz it auto converts to the GT stuff .. but now i know how to solve this issue it wont be a problem .. ive jus not messed around enough with GT configs in my pack as yet to work out what does what

So, I was trying to make a spell, and the recipe book on the crafting altar was coloured red. When I went ahead and tried to craft the spell, the altar exploded (taking out some other important stuff, I might add - I lost 150 buckets of lava in a tank [sob].)
Is the book being red and the exploding altar related? And if so, can anyone tell me why it might have happened? Is it because I had too many effects in my spell for the altar type? (It was the MOST basic altar - stone brick and glass.) That's the only thing I can think of, but there is no warning in the compendium to tell you that might happen.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Yup. If the book turns red in the crafting altar, that means your altar isn't strong enough to craft the spell.
you've already found out what happens when you try to craft the spell and add the component that puts it over the limit.

Hey, I'm working on bringing back Neo Melaphyre, under Project Melaphyre. This is going to be my best attempt at recreating the wonderous burning of stone for ore.
I don't got it pushed out to anything yet because I'm still in early stages.

A couple of questions after looking through the current config files.
1) There is a config to turn off AM2 towers. Do towers still actually spawn? I haven't seen them in my world, but I'm also using Highlands.
2) The only AM2 mobs i ever see in the overworld have been Dryads. Going into the twilight forest i see tons of light and dark mages, and mana elementals. Have not seen other elementals, darklings, etc. Is this biome related ? For the modpack, i actually sort of like it, as it adds a neat aspect to Twilight Forest.
3) Are AM2 items added to dungeon chests still? And would that be only vanilla chests? I've been doing some testing and running through roguelike dungeons and not seeing anything from AM2 in chests.
4) Other than bosses, should the Orbs and aspect Books be showing up anywhere?
The modpack we are working on is meant to be extremely challenging. The idea is to make it nearly required that you progress in AM2 to be able to deal with some of the challenges. Thanks

Quote from DerwandelndeTodjumpdid you start developing again? sorry i was not getting notifications from this thread for some reason...
Edit: taking the time to read it all
Edit2: i love you mithion for all you have done for us
Is Mithion going to continue AM2? Yes, but he won't be working on it himself. He'll still be managing the GitHub and allow others to submit code. He'll also remain in contact with us through the forums, and he'll remain the sole owner of the mod. At least, that's what I understood about his last few posts. In particular the post of the eleventh. Copy-pasted in a spoiler due to its length.
So I've been doing some thinking lately.
This community is amazing to work with, and I've come to feel like I have created something pretty cool here with AM2. I like logging on to see what people have to say about the mod (good or bad, because that is how we improve - as long as bad is still constructive), and offering my help with the various things that come up.
I was looking at the logs for the web server that handles the update checks, and I noticed something pretty amazing.
Background: AM2 does an update check when it is launched, and only then. A single update ping. Once running, it does not ping again.
That server is being queried fourteen times per second. That's incredible. That's 50,400 launches of the game every hour around the world. Honestly, I had no idea the mod was so widely used.
I still don't intend to come back to modding this game after the final update, but I've realized I don't want to see this mod die if possible. Not with how many people are getting enjoyment (or frustration...darn hecates!) out of what I have created.
So, I've decided, that if and only if I can find the right license, I will open-source the mod. If I can't, then the plan will revert back to what I have been doing so far.
Here are the conditions that it needs to meet:
The license is a limited license, and does not release the code into public domain as GPL and other like licenses do.
The code itself, and the mod, is still my intellectual property, meaning you cannot release it on your own, nor take the code verbatim into another mod, program, or project of that nature.
I retain the rights to the code and the mod, and can use them to my discretion.
Additional conditions are:
Atlas Games will continue to be credited for their allowing the use of the name. At no point will said credit be removed.
I will handle all releases of the mod, and keep this forum post up to date, and will continue to be involved in the community. I enjoy it too much
I will manage pull requests and the code repo. I'm new at it, but I need to learn to manage these kinds of things better for future plans. I'm open to suggestions and the like, but I will retain the final say.
This includes new content additions - if I don't feel it fits with the mod, I reserve the right to deny it, or say that it should be an addon rather than a core addition. I'm pretty open about it, though, so this likely won't come up too often.
Same goes for code formatting - try to mimic my code style so that it is consistent.
I would like to keep a focus on the API for content additions. This allows the mod to become more modular, and allows users to pick and choose the content they want to have, so API development would be a key concept.
If anyone knows a license that meets these conditions, please let me know and I will read it over and decide.
I do still plan to make a full game about magic, and I have some really neat ideas!
I hope most you will support me and give it a try, and be involved in it's creation by giving feedback, and following the development blog. The site is almost done, and I will be announcing the address very shortly.

Suffocating to death in a 1 high space as a bat gets annoying after a while
Attempted fix, functioning workaround (I tried to make them play nice, but in the event they don't, disabling shrink will stop all AM2 size altering code from running).
A couple of questions after looking through the current config files.

The modpack we are working on is meant to be extremely challenging. The idea is to make it nearly required that you progress in AM2 to be able to deal with some of the challenges. Thanks
1.) It's an outdated config. AM2 does not add any structures.
2.) It can be configured to work that way, but it is not default.
3.) Yep, though rarely.
4.) Blue/Rarely green orbs will show up in dungeon chests. Red in stronghold only.

================================
Also, I added this, because I couldn't resist after looking at the version number for so long: http://imgur.com/a/QRVE4
I would like to ask if it's possible to make certain mobs immune to the black aurem? because a) I run a [personal] server and using it to kill the ender dragon/the wither might be abused. and I use dragonmounts and reset the end to get another dragon egg because my black aurem killed my dragon. killing the ender dragon twice wasn't that painful due to the magic, but...
If the compendium is working properly it actually does warn you about that, it doesn't mention exploding, but it does say to not do it.
Also, I added this, because I couldn't resist after looking at the version number for so long: http://imgur.com/a/QRVE4
I love it!

I am not a coder or texture maker. I am just your average minecrafter with my own ideas on how to improve my own minecraft experience and maybe others (if they like them) as well.
Does anyone know how to remove or "replace" a broken power link? I have set up my power system so that it powers everything correctly, but I still cant get the broken power link blocks that are where my obelisk used to be to go away. This could be a problem because being around those broken power link blocks tends to make me lag for some reason.

I'm trying to make the best possible crafting altar using Quartz blocks and Sunstone Blocks, but it doesn't work. I'm building it right, but no dice. I have Chisel 2 installed - is that the problem?
I am using the right materials. too.
Can we have a pic of your setup to see if we can't figure out what's wrong?

Have you added everything? The lever, the book thing, the stairs on the inside of the structure, all five blocks? Absolutely EVERYTHING? And if so, as Wolf posted above me, provide us with visuals.

With Gregtech included when you mine the BlueTopaz Ore it becomes BlueTopaz the Gem from Gregtech rather than from AM2

Yup. If the book turns red in the crafting altar, that means your altar isn't strong enough to craft the spell.
you've already found out what happens when you try to craft the spell and add the component that puts it over the limit.
boom.

Hey, I'm working on bringing back Neo Melaphyre, under Project Melaphyre. This is going to be my best attempt at recreating the wonderous burning of stone for ore.
I don't got it pushed out to anything yet because I'm still in early stages.

Thanks

Additional conditions are:
This includes new content additions - if I don't feel it fits with the mod, I reserve the right to deny it, or say that it should be an addon rather than a core addition. I'm pretty open about it, though, so this likely won't come up too often.

Attempted fix, functioning workaround (I tried to make them play nice, but in the event they don't, disabling shrink will stop all AM2 size altering code from running).
1.) It's an outdated config. AM2 does not add any structures.
2.) It can be configured to work that way, but it is not default.
3.) Yep, though rarely.
4.) Blue/Rarely green orbs will show up in dungeon chests. Red in stronghold only.
Already fixed in .007 dev

Also, I added this, because I couldn't resist after looking at the version number for so long:

I would like to ask if it's possible to make certain mobs immune to the black aurem? because a) I run a [personal] server and using it to kill the ender dragon/the wither might be abused. and I use dragonmounts and reset the end to get another dragon egg because my black aurem killed my dragon. killing the ender dragon twice wasn't that painful due to the magic, but...
thank you for your assistance
