So I was playing on a Cauldron server, and at some point someone was able to make spells. Was this fixed in some secret update or something? Because it most definitely didn't work before.
But it does now at least. Yay.
Also regarding the Otherworldy Aura, maybe the recipe could be a ritual involving a Telekinesis spell and the Focus block could be a Crafting Altar placed in the middle of some Chalk and Candles.

When you put a book (any book whatsoever) on the lectern, the book doesn't leave your inventory (even in Survival mode), and when making a spell, the Crafting Altar won't accept items.
It'll accept the blank rune, but the vinteum dust (pictured) is just sitting there, sparkling and lagging like crazy!
I have encountered this as well and found the culprit to be the Gany's Surface mod. If you don't have that mod installed you might have to go through your other mods and see if you can find the conflict.

Ah! Thank You So Much!! That was the bug I've been having, and not able to craft spells. I get to the vintium dust, and it never takes it.
I have a rather confusing issue that I'm not sure how to solve. I'm quite positive its a potion ID conflict of some sort but I have no idea how to fix it. I created a self heal spell but when I cast it it gives me a Strength buff. I changed Ars Magica to load last in my mods, but then it gave me a water breathing buff instead. There are no crashes so I don't know what to do.

With that many modifiers, the zone would last for hours (though not through a game restart - they aren't saved).
Really? When i re-opened my world the zone was still there and i had to go through MCEdit to manually delete the entity (so i could go into survival without killing myself).
About the GUI... AM2 is the first mod I've found where i can push the GUI beyond its normal limits and still not crash the world/obstruct the screen/lag the world Yeah, it's very well coded

I can confirm the problems with Ganys Surface. It causes a bug when making spells, usually at the vinteum dust. It just sits, makes noise and effects, but never takes it. The book on the pedestal can also have issues opening only for a split second before closing. Both in SP and SMP i had the bug. I went back and forth in single player putting gany's in and taking out and with it in, i had the bug making spells. We'll be taking it out of the test server later to test without it just to make sure. But that seems to be the problem. Nice little mod, but not giving up Spells in AM for redsand and poop
The final update will include (hopefully) fixed for all game-breaking and game-crashing bugs present now.

Armour XP infusion happens as you gain experience levels. It is proportional to the amount of XP you get, dispersed across all of the armour you wear.
So like magic levels I assume?

Mine is doing the same. Not a big deal. I was just thinking "wow, that was fast, did he work all night?"
